Traditions[edit]

  • curious as to why no one has mentioned the history, tradition, and customs of the NYR fans ?? Nyrmetros <>
    • There was a separate article on the fans traditions. I have now merged that article into this one. MRoberts <> 15:36, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Here is the discussion from the traditions page Talk:New York Rangers traditions. MRoberts <> 15:51, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • I had no problem merging the 2 articles, as long as both stayed intact, which it did. Now we need to work on referencing the entire article, as it seems only the Rangers traditions has been referenced. Nyrmetros 22:06, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • What is the concensus here on having Dancing Larry as part of the traditions section?

I would put in Dancing Larry but would also add Dancing Granny who frequently gets a spot during games.

A section on cult favorite fans? Dancing Larry, Dancing Granny, Bobby Granger, and of course Cheif. Nyrmetros 20:15, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Here is some video and text proof about the Rangers stick salute to the fans. Maybe someone here can add it to the references. The article also takes about how the Rangers fans serenaded the team with the famous "Let's go Rangers" chant after being eliminated in the 2005/2006 playoffs at MSG. Nyrmetros 04:31, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let's go rangers[edit]

The idea that Rangers fans invented the "Let's go (team name)" chant at best needs a citation to a reliable source, and at worst is highly dubious. I'm going to remove the text that suggests this until and unless a reliable source is cited. Croctotheface 16:00, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Newyorkrangerslogo40s.gif[edit]

File:Newyorkrangerslogo40s.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:39, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:NewYorkRangers1940s.png[edit]

The image File:NewYorkRangers1940s.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --03:52, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great page.. there's nothing that makes you prouder than hearing John Amirante sing the Star Spangled Banner right before the game kicks off at MSG. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.121.100.9 (talk) 23:09, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unnotable information[edit]

The information inserted in this edit has been discussed on various talk pages as being insufficiently notable for inclusion as part of the New York Rangers articles. In addition, the information was removed by SNIyer12 from the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals article as well. Please don't reinsert this information into articles, particularly ones where it has been removed before, without discussing it on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey page. isaacl (talk) 12:23, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Potvin sucks" chant[edit]

A section describing this tradition was removed by an IP back in 2011, and it hasn't been restored. Is there a reason for this? The one reference that isn't a dead link [1], seems to confirm parts of this, though I'm not familiar with Rangers traditions, and came here from this false positive report. Should the section be restored? Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 00:18, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
