There's a sentence in the article that says "Following the release of the Watergate tapes, Fitzgerald was mentioned by President Nixon who boasted that he was responsible for firing Fitzgerald." I don't know the facts of the case, but I might guess that what this sentence means to say is "When the Watergate tapes were released, it became known that Fitzgerald was mentioned in them, with President Nixon boasting that he was responsible for firing Fitzgerald."
