Use of First Person

"We find that grip strength"? Since when is first person allowed in wikipedia articles? I don't have an account so I won't make the change, but I wanted to point that out. 167.83.101.20 (talk) 22:37, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Suggestion for new headings

Baseline facts & figures

Perhaps some data could be added on baseline data such as measured average grip strengths for the different types of grip. This is certainly present in the medical literature for some of the data. The best link I know of is at normative data pdf, this is pretty good too position and grip strength. --abacus 10:57, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

In medicine

Grip strength is used as a measure of fatigue in some branches of medicine. It is aslo able to predict a decline in function in old age midlife grip strength as a predictor of old age functioning. --abacus 10:57, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

In sports

Grip is an important, though often overlooked component of strength in sports. Sports where grip strength is of particular importance are climbing, judo, weightlifting, arm wrestling.

As separate discipline

From being an odd performance at fairs and circuses, grip feats have recently gained acceptance as a sport in its own right, with competitions held with increasing regularity. Feats include 1-arm deadlift, nail bending and card tearing.

History

.... This article pure gold. We need some history, grippers :D 137.238.83.3 (talk) 17:26, 19 November 2007 (UTC)gripfan

Great grips in history

The only John Brookfield in Wiki is a genetics professor. A "great grip"? Seems unlikely --Bicycle repairman 19:12, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Maybe an entry should be created for great grip John Brookfield. Search Amazon for his books. --Svein Olav Nyberg

Spam/Advertising in external links allowed??

IF SOME LINKS ARE REMOVED THAT SELL PRODUCTS THEN ALL LINKS THAT SELL PRODUCTS SHOULD AND WILL BE REMOVED

References

The references section includes this entry:

  • Adis (for the exercises that improve grip part).

I think this should either be clarified (what is "Adis", where does one find it) or removed. It's not useful in the present form. Dsreyn 14:58, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Ban the spammer?

If some links are removed THEN ALL LINKS SHOULD BE REMOVED. You don't own this page, no one does.

During my proofread, I removed the section detailing grip strength exercises via a hidden comment. I feel that it is not really fitting with an encyclopedia. Consider providing a link to an online resource instead.
