Political platform[edit]

I recently added some of the political standpoints of the party but they were removed. The explanation given was that the party's website is not a reliable source. I am not sure I understand the reasoning. We are talking here about how the party describes itself, so I think the best source for that would be the party's website itself, in my opinion. Also, the articles on the other political parties, like Freedom and Justice Party (Egypt) and Al-Nour Party have similar sections on political platform that use the websites of these parties as source for the information. We are writing Wikipedia from a WP:Neutral Point of View. That means that regularly we don't rely on sources that have a close tie to the subject itself, but only on neutral, third-party sources. For an encyclopedia it is not relevant how the party presents itself, but only how independent observers see it. To present itself, the party has its own website, and who wants to learn about the party's self-presentation and program can visit it there. Therfore I have reverted your additions. The political platform section of FJP is much shorter than what you proposed to add here, and only one of seven sources it uses is connected to the Brotherhood. The political platform section of Al-Nour already has a warning tag, because it mainly relies on the party's homepage, and I would have no problem with deleting the problematic passages altogether. --RJFF (talk) 21:03, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't Liberal Egyptian Party a more accurate translation?[edit]
