Qwerty084, please discuss changes here. Blogs are not acceptable references. This is an encyclopedia, not a message board. And - we don't need Obama references - she never mentioned his name. So she did. The quote is enough, don't belabour it. If you do have her Youtube video, add it as an External link. Wizzy 19:32, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article is too focused on her remarks on Israel. Very un-encyclopedic, though typical of people who only get an article after a controversy. Those sections should be shortened so they are at least less than half the length. Two sentences should be enough. jackbrown (talk) 20:52, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comments About Jews[edit]

In December 2008, she caused a stir when she implied the Israeli Embassy's Ethiopia-born spokesman Elias Inbram was a token black. [1]

At a COSATU rally on Wednesday 14 January 2009, in Lenasia, Gauteng, she made disparaging remarks regarding the powerful American Zionist political lobby. [2][3][4][5] Her initial apology was rejected by the South African Jewish Board of Deputies.[6], but after discussion with South African President Kgalema Motlanthe she apologised again, which was accepted by the Jewish board.[7] [8]

I copied this to the main page. Wizzy 16:38, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More on Comments About Jews[edit]

The issue of her comments about Jews and the Israeli embassy's spokesperson being Black is what brought her into the spotlight. The rest of her biography is 2 sentences long. This issue deserves some more room. It is of particular interest since the ANC has a platform of No Racism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by No More Mr Nice Guy (talkcontribs) 09:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

obviously you've misunderstood hajaigs comment about the israeli embassy's employee. some people WANT to bring her into the spotlight because of her comments about jews. The rest of her biography is 2 sentences long, that's right but that's exactly the problem. adding more details about this case won't solve the problem, on the contrary. her comments, some reactions, the apology and it's acceptance are already mentioned. also, the article about "antisemitic incidents during the gaza conflict" deals with this issue.--Severino (talk) 10:31, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Her comments about Jews are what made her famous outside South Africa. Look at her entry prior to this issue. It is probably the main reason people look her up here in the first place.
I think that at the bare minimum, this should include her comments, reaction, apology and why it wasn't accepted, second apology and ANC officials distancing themselves from her comments. No More Mr Nice Guy (talk) 13:33, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

you might also consider Wikipedia:NPF#People_who_are_relatively_unknown_.28.22non-public_figures.22.29 and other wiki rules.--Severino (talk) 16:22, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is material relevant to her notability. Very few people outside of South Africa would have heard of her if this didn't happen.
You might also consider talking on the talk page rather than reverting people's edits with no discussion. No More Mr Nice Guy (talk) 09:43, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

not all of these details are necessary. all relevant information is already mentioned in the older version. also, it's not acceptable to put a person in the category "antisemitism". as i suggested before, you can add more details in the article about "antisemitic incidents during the gaza war".--Severino (talk) 16:44, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not all relevant information is already mentioned. It's relevant that the government distanced itself from her comments because they conflict with their anti-racism platform. It's relevant why the apology was not accepted the first time, etc.
Also, Hitler is in the category "antisemitism", as is David Duke. Why do you think it's not acceptable to put a person in this category? No More Mr Nice Guy (talk) 21:46, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
