  • Krishna Das Gurwala was a grandson of Mulk Seth Ramji Dass Gurwala of Chandni Chowk, an Agrawal, the money-lender to the Nawab of Avadh and the Mughals in 1857[1]. Mulk Seth Ramji Dass Gurwala was executed in front of his shop by the British, after the 1857 rebellion, for financing the Mughals[2] and his property was confiscated. Krishna Das Gurwala's father, Narain Dass Gurwala, revived the family's fortune only to be ruined again in the banking crisis of 1913.
  • About the Founder, Shri Ram College of Commerce</ref> and later turned it into a conglomerate. Lala Shriram, in the 1930s, introduced practices such as profit sharing with employees and worker participation in management. He founded, or was closely associated with the Indraprastha College for Women, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Lady Shri Ram College for Women and the Shriram Institute for Industrial Research. Shriram, in the 79 years of his life, built an industrial empire, manufacturing goods like -textiles, sugar, alcohol, heavy, chemicals, vanaspati, pottery, fans, sewing machines, electric motors and capacitors[3]. The Government of India appointed him to be the Chairman of a number of committees and institutions dealing with industry, finance, agriculture and planning. Help needed with rename/move[edit]

Hi I'd like to rename this article. Unfortunately I made the mistake of creating the new article as a blank page Delhi Cloth & General Mills in preparation for the move. This is now preventing me from using the move tool and completing the renaming of the article. The reason for the rename/move is because this company has many iterations and names. One of them is Delhi Cloth Mills but that was not the original name and there are very few sources for that search term. The article name[edit]

I had renamed this article because all of the secondary sources in the article cite Delhi Cloth & General Mills as the original company name.

I've left two messages on the user talk page of User:TechLion but they have not come to the talk page to discuss even though they are editing daily. Since User:Rotideypoc41352 has also not responded, I've asked for a third opinion at WP:3O. Third Opinion[edit]

A Third Opinion has been requested. I don't see any reliable sources for a name of Delhi Cloth Mills. The original name of the company appears to be Delhi Cloth and General Mills, and the current name of the company, according to its web site (which is a reliable source as to the corporate name) is DCM Limited. Hi Robert, and thanks for your offering a third opinion. As you know WP articles are based on reliable sources. you've confirmed that Delhi Cloth and General Mills is identified by all of the sources as the original company and is the focal point of their coverage. If I may though, I'd like to point out a few things:

There is no website for Delhi Cloth and General Mills. The company was founded in the late 1800s before the Internet was around :-)

I would point out that DCM limited is not the "current name" of the company, it is a different company with a similar name. It is one of several splinter companies owned or managed by family members and their descendants. They include but are not limited to: DCM Ltd, DCM Shriram Industries, Shriram Industrial Enterprises and DCM Shriram Consolidated. To my knowledge there are no sources that give DCM Ltd the notability for a stand alone article. I may be wrong but I haven't seen them. Also, I don't see how a spin off company article would preclude an article about the original company which included reliable sources. Don't you agree?
I also think you would agree that we wouldn't give priority to a primary source (DCM Ltd's website) with a PR story line on their website and allow it overshadow the history given in multiple secondary sources (listed in the article) per WP:Secondary. Another point is that Delhi Cloth and General Mills was the company name for 90+ years and the split into four segments (of which DCM Ltd is but one) occurred in 1990. So DCGM clearly takes precedence on very level.-- — Keithbob • Talk • 18:55, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
