Name[edit]

While my source review suggests there was a military operation like this, I cannot find any English source for "Central Lithuanian Offensive on Kaunas", nor Polish for pl:Ofensywa Litwy Środkowej na Kowno. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:39, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

One sided[edit]

This article totally glosses over Lithuanian Offensive on Wilno, which occupied most of the late October/early November... from what I read, Polish offensive mostly took part in mid-late November, and was a counteroffensive. Also, capture of Kaunas was a rather theoretical end game plan. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:19, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

I propose merging Battle of Giedraičiai into Central Lithuanian offensive of November 1920. It was a small offensive. The Battle of Giedraičiai was the biggest event of the operation. It makes no sense for there to be two articles that actually duplicate their content. The Battle of Giedraičiai goes into a little more detail, but not enough to justify the existence of two articles. After merging, we will get a solid, long article. I don't know how you want to do it you can just let others have their say on it. Wladekimperialny (talk) 05:18, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting proposal. I am for joining Central Lithuanian offensive of November 1920 into Battle of Giedraičiai and not the other way around because:
1) I have never seen a single source refer to the topic as "Central Lithuanian offensive of November 1920", especially not in English or Lithuanian, which means that it is most likely an WP:OR creation. Neither do I see Polish academic sources use the term. The offensive article does not even say which days it happened, just the month. It's a very questionable article that severely lacks information.
2) The offensive article is clearly inferior in quality, so it seems more logical to join whatever is not already there into the battle article, just to ease the merger's work. +JMJ+ (talk) 19:14, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Merging Central Lithuanian offensive of November 1920 into Battle of Giedraičiai would leave out teh Raid on Kedainiai which lasted longer then the Battle in Giedraičiai.
