Washington State[edit]

BrianCua I made edits that put the example of 2012 into the correct section and made clear it referred to Washington state. I then amended to say "In 2012 Catholic bishops in Washington state issued pastoral statements and DVDs articulating urging parishioners to vote against marriage equality". The source (the San Francisco Chronicle) says specifically "vote against marriage equality". I was very careful to link the text in the article to the source. With no explanation other than "Put this in the paragraph with the other legislative efforts" you have changed this wording to say "In 2012, Catholic bishops in Washington state issued pastoral statements and DVDs articulating the Catholic vision of marriage and urging parishioners to support efforts to define marriage as a union of one man and one woman in Referendum 74." This isn't I'm afraid what the source says. Additionally Referendum 74 was not a vote to discuss whether marriage should be one man and one woman, it was specifically a question about legalizing same-sex marriage in the state. I'd like to respectfully give you a chance to explain why you did this. Thanks. Contaldo80 (talk) 01:17, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When you cut out part of what was included in the DVD, I wanted to go back and restore it. I've edited the text again to reflect what was actually on the ballot. --BrianCUA (talk) 03:01, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But that isn't with due respect what the source actually says. We have a source cited - the San Francisco Chronicle - and it refers to encouragement to "vote against marriage equality". Therefore that is how the language in the article is phrased. And this actually reflects the intention of the Referendum - to update the law to remove the requirement that the genders be different and may this effect to permit people of the same gender to marry. So I will restore the article to the previous version and ask that if we look to make changes then we consider additional sources and what they actually say. Thanks again.Contaldo80 (talk) 01:09, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blessing of same sex unions[edit]

The Catholic church did not authorise blessings of same sex unions in its document, in fact it explicitly says its not that. The document explains that you can bless two same sex attracted persons that are repentant and wish to have God's blessing conferred on them in order to live in a way conducive to God's commandments 203.30.12.244 (talk) 23:01, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
