How many Jews in Beverly Hills?

I undid this edit just now. I agree that the source is reliable, and I have no problem with including the information. However, the source doesn't mention the total population at the time of the count of the Jewish population, so it seems to me that including it in the sentence is WP:SYNTH. Also, there's no way this should be the very first sentence of the demographics section. I'm not sure where it should go, though, so I'm bringing it here for comments. — alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 19:50, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Why is it important what percentage of people practice a particular religion in any given town? It is unbalanced to include that IMHO, unless we provide a percentage of every religion's participants. Why should Judaism be singled out? BTW, this edit has been put forth on this article before and was shot down. Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:12, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

I moved the following reply here from my talk page:

Perhaps the source does not mention the total population in 1997, but the 1990 data shows a population of 31,xxx and the 2000 data shows a population of more than 33,000, thus the 1997 population could not be much lower than 33,000; plus, I stated that this is an "approximate" estimation. I believe, there was no need to remove my changes.Ethnic and religious statistics belong to the category of demographics. Since the section was filled with 2000 and 2010 statistics, it was reasonable to use the data in the beginning to avoid confusion. Please reply back. User: Ari777m 8:00, 12 May 2013 (UTS)

I don't care much either way. I just don't think it should be the first sentence of the section and I don't think it should include the total population in the same sentence as the Jewish population since the source doesn't do that. That's my whole opinion on the matter.
