Article by Richard Warner, cited in an article CFI blog[edit]

This article [1] refers to futher research, which is a little more detailed on the suspect Joseph Mumfre or Momfre. It, in turn, cites an article, Richard Warner, ‘The first Mafia boss of Los Angeles? The Mystery of Vito Di Giorgio, 1880-1922.’ In The On The Spot Journal, summer 2008. Mr. Warner says the suspect was named Frank “Doc” Mumphrey, also known Leone J. Manfre. He says the suspect was killed on December 5, 1921, at the age of 45 years, and was killed by Esther Albana, the wife of a Mumphrey associate, Angelo Albano who was never heard from again after leaving to meet with Mumphrey. There is more in the article.

Citation, Rewrite, and Expansion[edit]

This article is poorly developed, sourced, and written and requires significant attention. Some information in the article is unsourced and either needs to be given proper citations from reliable sources or removed if none can be found. Some sections are poorly written and will need to be rewritten, the Popular Culture section is poorly sourced and formatted, and needs to be rewritten so that it's formatted into the proper paragraph structure instead of bullet points. Some of the information found in the article is unsourced and either needs to be given proper citations from reliable sources or removed if none can be found. There also needs to be a section on the killer's Modus Operandi and Criminal Investigation added to the article as well (with proper citations from reliable sources). Considering the importance of this article (among other articles on unidentified serial killers) it's surprising to see it in this state as it could easily make GA and FA if enough attention is given to it considering the abundance of sources on the subject. Hopefully someone comes along and gives this article the attention it needs to fulfill its full potential.--Paleface Jack 16:19, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

Background Section[edit]

I’m not sure if it’s an issue with formating or just a troll, but there’s a pretty out of place letter or something similar without quotes and with about 3 lines of space between the start of the letter. Fjossollkern (talk) 13:35, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suspects section conflicts with newspaper clipping[edit]

the body of that section contains a paragraph that details that there was no evidence that anyone by the name of Monfre or Momfre was killed in Los Angeles. But the image subsequently shows microfiche of the Los Angeles Sunday Times with an article on such a murder happening, as reported in that time frame. So either there is a source for this information, or the entire article is perhaps a hoax.StrangeApparition2011 (talk) 01:02, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
