The Peru women's national volleyball team was one of the dominant forces in women's volleyball in the 1980s,[citation needed] culminating in the silver medal won at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. The team's nickname is Las Hijas del Sol (Sun's daughters)
