Synopsis[edit]

A love story between Park Do-ra and Go Pil-seung, the two met as youngsters and reconnected as adults and faced great obstacles to love each other. Do-ra's family suffered misfortune as her father died, leaving her mother (Baek Mi-ja) to take care of the family. Mi-ja is selfish and an irresponsible mother as she tried to make Do-ra famous to help make ends meet while conning others out of their money. After running out on their last landlord, Mi-ja met the Go Family and convinced them to let her rent out their apartment. Do-ra fell in love with Pil-seung but he didn't reciprocate her feelings he's a teenager and she's still a kid. Despite the age gap, Do-ra did her best to spend time with Pil-seung.

It was during this time that Mi-ja took advantage of Pil-seung's grandfather, Kim Joon-seop. Joon-seop pitied Do-ra's family and helped the family with emotional and financial support. Mi-ja took advantage of Joon-seop's kindness and started a secret romantic relationship. Unfortunately, Pil-seung's family found out and deeply objected towards it as they see Mi-ja a con artist. Mi-ja denied ever loving Joon-seop and it broke his heart and he died. Mi-ja didn't want her kids to know she caused Joon-seop's death and quietly ran away in the dark. Shortly after, Do-ra would successfully gain an audition that would jumpstart her career in acting, making her the golden goose for her family for years to come.

Fifteen years later, Pil-seung is now a TV producer and Do-ra has become a famous actress. The two would cross paths once again, but Do-ra didn't recognize Pil-seung and he didn't want to reconnect with her. Unfortunately, Do-ra was a diva and didn't like Pil-seung and wanted him off their project. It was then he decided to reveal his identity and their past connection; the reveal saved his job but also reignited Do-ra's feelings for him. Pil-seung resisted Do-ra's romantic advances because of their family's past, but he couldn't deny is feelings for her and the two quietly began dating. In between, Do-ra's mother creates new troubles to everyone involved with her.

Mi-ja is a gambling addict and emptied Do-ra's fortunes to fuel her addiction. To cover up her actions, she approached Gong Jin-dan (heir to the App Group) to help finance Do-ra's new drama and hope the two would fall in love and resolve their financial situation. While Jin-dan was smitten with Do-ra at first sight, Do-ra was indifferent and later avoided him as she sensed his aggressive obsession over her. Pil-seung's and Do-ra's family discovered the two were secretly dating and was against the two together. Despite the opposition, the two fought to stay together until Do-ra discovered she is bankrupt and in severe debt.

After Do-ra discovered she owed millions to people because of her mother, Do-ra would do her best to try to recover by working harder and breaking up with Pil-seung. Unfortunately, Jin-dan's influence and social media releases over her debts cornered her as her popularity vanished and her financial prospects gone. Jin-dan offered his money to save Do-ra if she agree to be with him, but she couldn't do it and Do-ra ultimately jumped into the ocean to release her from the burden. Do-ra's supposed death would devastate Pil-seung and drive her family into poverty, but it also meant a new life for Do-ra.

Do-ra survived her suicide attempt and was rescued by an old woman. With head injuries, Do-ra suffered amnesia and the old woman declared she was her granddaughter, Kim Ji-young. For the next two years, Do-ra/Ji-young would live a quiet life until Pil-seung encountered her while directing a new drama. Unable to recognize Do-ra from her new appearance, she was hired as a new production assistant for Pil-seung. Over time though, Pil-seung would find himself drawn to Ji-young and noticed similarities about her with Do-ra. He would eventually discover the truth that Do-ra survived but lost her memories. Rather than try to recover her memories, Pil-seung decided to let her live her life as Ji-young but quietly protected her. Things would unravel as her past begins to catch up with her.
