Good essay[edit]

I like the essay. It's descriptive of the workings of Wikipedia and all involved, and even better, it's humorous. Good work! Acalamari 19:03, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above comment. It really is a good essay. Nice work!- Rjd0060 01:36, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't like it, sorry[edit]

First of all, I dislike that we have directors and any "top level" decisions. I would prefer if there were no authority.

I also dislike separating users into groups with different functions! It makes it look like we can't be players and directors and goalkeepers and staff and whatever we want. Everyone can contribute to any area of the encyclopedia, and I certainly don't like being labeled (those user boxes saying that I'm a metapedian are just so people don't say "oh my god you have ten times more contributions to other spaces than to the mainspace, do you really think you're an useful contributor?" because I'm so tired of that kind of thing). Oh, sure, we can't all be directors, but that's a bad thing that should be fixed, as I said above. A.Z. 00:23, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there A.Z. - The point I'm trying to make with respect to the directors is that the arbitration committee are the people that have to step in if there's a problem. They're the people that make binding resolutions here. The community can deal with most things, but as a last resort, we have the arbitration committee and Jimbo, with no greater place to appeal. That's why I made the analogy. In essense, we are all equal here - and many users cross many different bands. I for one contribute in a number of different areas. I guess what I was trying to put across in the essay are the stereotypical types of wikipedians. Anyway, it's not meant to be taken seriously - it's my way way of adding a little humour in here :-) Ryan Postlethwaite 01:46, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How can one contact the first aid staff? A.Z. 03:18, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A.Z. - It's simply a humerous essay, it's not at all supposed to be taken this seriously, so I guess you can't contact the first aid staff. Ryan Postlethwaite 07:45, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
