Is this a meetup?[edit]

Is this really a meetup? Editathons are a different beastie surely. Of course I wholeheartedly support this event, but I'm not sure that it should be listed alongside all of the pub sessions. I can't think of any other editathons that have this status. Bazonka (talk) 18:57, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It appeared on my radar because of this edit. I've not read the page in detail, but some other combined editathon/meetups have happened in the past - I'm thinking of most of the Cardiffs plus the lone Plymouth. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:06, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This seems to be all editathon and no meetup. I'm sure some people will wander off to the pub afterwards, but that's not on the agenda. Conversely, the pages for Plymouth and Cardiffs 2 and 3 don't mention any editing activity. Cardiff 1 is an editathon not meetup, though I think that's misplaced too.
On one hand, it probably doesn't really matter if these editathons are headlined as meetups, but they won't get the same prominence in the geonotice as e.g. the Lancaster editathon is getting. Bazonka (talk) 20:35, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging @Mhbeals: about this. Would be a shame for it to not be advertised. Sam Walton (talk) 09:18, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. I did not have this page properly watched (somehow). It is a primarily a Edit-a-thon, though we are hoping to bring the local Wikipedia community to get involved. If it needs to be moved under another heading, I am happy for it be so. Our department has a local pub and we would love to host anyone for a round afterwards! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mhbeals (talkcontribs) 09:26, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No worries about the location, the guide to running editathons says Wikipedia:Meetup: is fine, and Jonathan Cardy has requested a geonotice for you here. Sam Walton (talk) 17:48, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
