Report on the the Brampton Wikipedia Contributors April 8 Meetup
Since many of our participants were new Wikipedia contributors, we first set up Wikipedia accounts and logins. Then we learned some basic MediaWiki markup language and practiced by creating our own User profile pages and editing this page. Special thanks to Brampton Public Library for providing their boardroom for our meetup.

Thanks for organizing this, David. Monday doesn't work for me due to work, but I'll try to contribute remotely . All the best! utcursch | talk 00:28, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks utcursch for offering to contribute to our Monday April 8, 2013 gathering. We'll look for you online. DavidSpencer.ca (talk) 21:18, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nice job guys, hope it's going well. I tweet about it this afternoon (also in French). Hope you'll have some pictures to show to us! Good contribution day! Regards Benoit Rochon (talk) 21:10, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Montreal, Québec[edit]

Note: The first Montreal meetup was held on April 6, 2013.
Next one on April 24th.
A new editor user:Youvesse, Board member of Mile End Memories and journalist for Radio-Canada, is giving an interview to 2 UQAM students.
User:Simon Villeneuve is helping a new editor.

Hello,

We organize a contribution day in Montreal on Saturday, April 6 at the Mile End Library. The theme is the articles about the Mile End neighborhood. A short training will be given to those who do not know how to contribute to Wikipedia. To participate, please visit the project page for more details. We will also be on IRC channel #wikimedia-ca (webchat) for those who can't be on site.

Do not hesitate to organize another day in Montreal, on another subject, during the National Contribution Month. Benoit Rochon 09:41, 11 February 2013 (EST)
Ben, that link is only in French, where should we host the details in English? Alan.ca (talk) 12:50, 11 February 2013 (EST)
The French page exists only since 2 days and my plan was to create one also in English, but I've been busy organising the National aspect. But I don't know too much WP-en rules to create sub-pages. I wanted create it like w:en:Wikipedia:Contribution days/Mile End, this title would perfectly fit the WP-fr page. Benoit Rochon (talk) 14:19, 11 February 2013 (EST)
Yes I quickly tried to add an interwiki to w:fr:Wikipédia:Journées contributives without success. Amqui (talk) 15:12, 11 February 2013 (EST)
The first contribution day of the first Contribution Month in Canada was totally a success. Highly productive and highly motivated people, new contributors from the world of free culture in Montreal, from the Montreal Public Libraries Network, from OpenStreetMap, from Mile End Memories, etc.. Guys, I wish you the best for your own contribution days, it's just so cool to do these! Regards, Benoit Rochon (talk) 15:38, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Montreal, Québec (2)[edit]

Next event in Montreal is on April 24th at the Notman House, The home of the web in Montréal. We create an Eventbright to limit participants to 20 people maximum. We invite people from associations like Heritage Montreal, McCord Museum, and the open culture community in Montreal. According to the response of these associations, this event may not be available to the public.

Toronto, Ontario[edit]

Is there one in the works for downtown Toronto?

Does the event space have to be a library? JoshuaErrett 21:28, 10 February 2013 (EST)

To sign your message, please use ~~~~. The event space doesn't have to be a library, this is only the more common place for those type of events in the past, but this is all at the discretion of each local organizer. We are only beginning at gathering people at this point, but I'm sure there will be more from Toronto area. If you are volunteer and have an event space in mind, please share it us. Amqui 20:31, 10 February 2013 (EST)
Josh - I am currently tossing around the idea of organizing this in the Toronto area, or perhaps in the Mississauga area. Many resources available. Any suggestions, Assistance or Feedback would be appreciated! Enti342 20:56, 10 February 2013 (EST)
Cool. I was thinking about this space in the west end called the Academy of the Impossible. It's sort of an informal education lab. A good spot for a editing, and the space gets a decent amount of publicity for its events. It also has a built-in audience of people who would make great contributors. I took the initial step of emailing the owner of the event space and he is game to host a Contribution Day. I'm not sure if there's an approval process or vetting of organizers, but I would be interested doing it. If it is deemed I would make an acceptable organizer, what are the possible dates? JoshuaErrett 21:28, 10 February 2013 (EST)
The exact date are completely up to the organizer, the intent is to have them during the month of April, that's it. But, if I may suggest, try to pick a date where most people can attend as well. Also, nothing refrain from organizing one in Toronto and one in Mississauga if there are interest. The more the merrier. Amqui 21:38, 10 February 2013 (EST)
Oh and there isn't any real vetting process for the organizers. The only real requirements are that you need at least two people who know how to contribute and what are the main 'rules' on Wikipedia (i.e. cite your refs, no original content, free license, etc.) and are willing to share this with new contributors, to add the date and location of your event to the main list of events and to submit a summary of your event after it's completed (with info like attendance, some stats on the articles improved, recommendations for future events, etc.). We strongly recommended that organizers work in team, since it makes it way more easy (and fun) for everybody, and gives flexibility of having an alternate if one can't attend because of last minute unforeseen events. It would also be nice if some pictures of the event can be taken and uploaded to Commons (we will create a designated Category). If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask here. There is also the possibility to set up a Skype conference call if you wish to talk to people who organized events like that in the past to get some advice, just let us know. Amqui (talk) 12:35, 11 February 2013 (EST)
It would be Awesome if the two guys from the Toronto area could work together. It's always best to organize events in pairs in case one person cannot make it. If you guys choose a Saturday that is different from the Montreal event, I may be able to stop by and say hello. Alan.ca (talk) 12:48, 11 February 2013 (EST)
Unfortunately I don't know any other Wikipedians, so I won't have another person to organize an event with. Too bad. JoshuaErrett (talk) 15:08, 20 February 2013 (EST)
Joshua, I think Enti342 said he was interested too to do one in Toronto area. Amqui (talk) 20:02, 20 February 2013 (EST)
No need to know people. Our first step is to find one or preferably two persons in the same area to organise a contribution day. Then Amqui and I, will do a campaign on Wikimedia Projects, social networks, etc. So if there's already a place (or two) in Toronto, when the campaing starts last week of March, you'll surely find people!
Honestly, don't worry it's very easy to organise : you need only a room with internet, and a theme to contribute to. And THEN you'll know Wikipedians around your area! If you need help, feel free to ask our help. Sincerely. Benoit Rochon (talk) 13:00, 24 February 2013 (EST)
I have no qualms with organizing for Mississauga if Joshua wants to take Toronto - or we can organize together for a larger area! So far I have mentioned this to four people and all are interested in attending. Enti342 (talk) 01:35, 26 February 2013 (EST)
If anyone needs assistance in organizing this I am available. Poyani (talk) 22:07, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've organized a Toronto event. It will take place at the Academy of the Impossible on April 11, starting at 7 pm onwards. Here's a post about it. Thanks for the help! JoshuaErrett (talk) 13:55, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Awesome! I'm very glad we have one more! Thanks Joshua. I add it to the calendar (feel free to modify if needed). Anyone else? Enti342, Mississauga? In 4 days I start a communication campaign : banners on WP French and English, Twitter, Facebook; I already have an interview April 6 on French CBC... So if you're willing to start one in your region, you'll surely find some people to join your event. Need help? Leave a message here. Benoit Rochon (talk) 02:31, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Joshua! I'll be there unless there's another event in Mississauga (or unless work keeps me late at office). Let me know if I can be of any help. utcursch | talk 00:35, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would go, except asking my parents if I could go downtown at 7pm to meet a bunch of fellow online encyclopedia editors might sound a little weird ;) nerdfighter 19:55, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I Tweet about today's event (in EN and FR). Have a good Contribution day! Benoit Rochon (talk) 15:53, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good look for your event. If you can take a couple photos to add to your quick report . Amqui (talk) 16:55, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Toronto, Ontario (2)[edit]

Report on Toronto event, April 17th, York University[edit]

rosw organized an event for the Writing Department at York University. It was attended by six faculty members and writing instructors.

We reviewed a list of Wikipedia articles on topics related to academic and professional writing and writing instruction. The goals were to:

  1. identify opportunities to contribute new topics and add to existing articles on the theme of Writing.
  2. explore how Wikipedia is being used to help post-secondary students develop research and writing skills
  3. Assess interest in a longer-term contribution strategy based in courses and extra-curricular activities

We will have a follow up meeting to move some of these ideas forward. Rosw (talk) 20:42, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Another Toronto event!

  • Theme: Academic and professional writing
  • Where: Writing Department, York University
  • When: April 17, 2.00-4.00pm

Help from experienced Wikipedia editors will be welcome. --Rosw (talk) 20:32, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Winnipeg, Manitoba[edit]

Hello,

I read somewhere that someone around Winnipeg wants to organize a Contribution Day... was I dreaming? I can't find this discussion anymore. Amqui, can you give me a tip where I can reach this person? Benoit Rochon (talk) 10:05, 6 March 2013 (EST)

Hi There,
I think it would be great to run an event in Winnipeg near the end of April (April 20th - Saturday, perhaps). The best place would probably be either the University or Millenium Library. If anyone is interested please respond to this feed, because without any interest we could not run the event. Thanks, Alana. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Umkernaa (talkcontribs) 13:49, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You might want to get in touch with User:Tenbergen#National Contribution Month, he talked about it for Winnipeg! Benoit Rochon (talk) 14:13, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I could be interested in this. Not sure what's all involved, but let me know. --Trb333 (talk) 05:49, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I might be interested in attending. I have e-mailed the Winnipeg Public Library to see if they would be willing to host such an event on April 20th. MBueckert (talk) 21:32, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am tickled to see MBueckert took this on. I have been procrastinating with this page open for 2 weeks and just now had another look at it. Did the library ever get back to you? Count me in. If the library isn't open for this I can find another space where we can meet, likely Skullspace[1] (confirmed availability of space as long as we don't mind sharing, they have two other events on that weekend). Not much there for reference works, but with any luck we could find something to contribute to contribution month even from there. Even if only to get together some Winnipeggers interested in Wikipedia. What time? Tenbergen (talk) 17:05, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Never heard back from anyone for this weekend. If people are still interested we could try next weekend. Anyone? Tenbergen (talk) 14:17, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

topic?[edit]

Most other locations have a theme/topic (see Wikipedia:Contribution_Month_in_Canada_-_Locations). Do we have something Winnipeg or Manitoba specific we could work on? Ideas... Bill 18, Flooding, this year's budget? Other ideas welcome. Would be good to know ahead of time especially if we were to not meet in a library. That way I could pick up some reference stuff from the library. Tenbergen (talk) 17:30, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Someone can give a call (604-331-3603), get one of these free room, and add this to schedule? People will sure show up. Be bold! lol :-) Benoit Rochon (talk) 13:38, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Last time we didn't even book a room, and there's space anyway. If someone sets this up for late April I will come. InverseHypercube (talk) 21:46, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll show up, sounds like fun. -- œ 01:43, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, all!

I am one long-time reader, an interested party in this event. Though I have not contributed much for lack of familiarity with all the little steps.

I'd like to take this chance to learn how to approach this best as a contributor. I live in Richmond (been here for 15 years), but it is an easy ride via Skytrain to downtown.

Anywhere with free and fast wi-fi access would make an ideal meeting space, like this Waves Coffee in Richmond that comes with a meeting room good for 8 or so, though it is rather popular with the students from a local college.

I am hoping to find more contributors in my area focused on Hong Kong and Chinese contents, perhaps some Japanese too. Personally, my interests are very wide, active on Twitter, focused on Thatcher stories right now.

Cheers!

Lets do this in Victoria, British columbia as well. Anyone interested in meeting at University of Victoria? I can get a room/ lecture hall with wi-fi. Post it here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.104.124.250 (talk) 06:16, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Let's do this in Victoria. Let's pick a date (hopefully at the end of this month), put it out there, and have a day at it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CodyGregory (talkcontribs) 14:56, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm up for this too and will try to round up others I know might be interested. Sooner we can announce a ae and place, sooner we can start publicizing it. Nessman (talk) 17:37, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am for UVic too and - might be banned for this but cannot help it - I would sponsor with coffee and cookies if you edit articles on my MediaWiki for 30 min. Anyway I will stay around to learn and help for Wikipedia. Mike2013a (talk) 03:00, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone?

AAMOF, I live on the north shore of Lake Erie. Anywhere within a reasonable distance would suit me.

There is one in Brampton and one in Toronto, see Wikipedia:Contribution Month in Canada - Locations. Amqui (talk) 18:21, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thnx, Amqui, but even Brampton is the better part of two hours away for me. Leaves little time or energy for producing results. SewerCat (talk) 22:53, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be interested in attending a Hamilton one! Grande (talk) 21:12, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Someone interested to get together in Ottawa or in Gatineau? I saw that Dmitri Lytov add his name in the calendar. So drop a message here if you're interested! Regards, Benoit Rochon (talk) 12:26, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd consider joining in if something was organized in the Ottawa area. Cheers, Dawn Bard (talk) 12:57, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What about your availability next week? Would Saturday, April 13 be a good option? As for the place, I'd propose to meet in one of Carleton University's cafeterias, there must be free wi-fi (I'll double-check anyway). --Dmitri Lytov (talk) 12:36, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would be interested in joining and will try to come out. --Kathleen O'Grady (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:29, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please post the building and room number for the meet, for all lurkers to find. And... if possible, find out if there's free parking there. The last time I went to Carleton, they wanted an arm and a leg for parking. If not, the Ottawa Public Library offers free wifi to anyone with a library card (free for residents). The Centrepointe library has a large, free parking lot. 173.206.176.77 (talk) 01:46, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Some hints on free wifi can be found via http://apt613.ca/best-wifi-hotspots-in-ottawa/ 131.137.247.6 (talk) 21:12, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Carleton doesn't have free parking perse. There is free parking across the street on Bronson and then it's a hike to where you want to go. There's no free public wifi either on campus, you need to be a student and login with student id and password.

Let's discuss once again available dates and possible locations. As I can see, some of us have concerns about free parking. Also, only few of us said what date and time would be best possible. Let's summarize our preferences below:

User name Desirable locations Desirable days/time Concerns
Dmitri Lytov Canadian Museum of Nature
(meeting in the cafeteria,
free WiFi, free entrance at this time/day, parking $5 flat rate)
11/04 from 5pm to 8pm None
Rick Graham April 13, flexible None
Dawn Bard Accessible by OCTranspo or STO
Kathleen O'Grady
Vstdenis Week of 15 Apr or later
Deinocheirus
Vir cotto Thursday, Friday evening
173.206.176.77 Centrepointe library Free parking
Earl Andrew Carleton is fine (somewhere close to the Mac library). Also would suggest Main branch of the Ottawa library. Somewhere in Central or South ottawa Evenings & Weekends except Thursday Accessible by OC Transpo; I might invite my partner and 2 year old daughter, so a "child friendly" environment might be nice.

I am also available the whole day 04/04 by Skype (lytovs), if you want to discuss anything quickly, without writing messages on this page, or by e-mail (don.lytov AT gmail.com) --Dmitri Lytov (talk) 02:29, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Or you guys can use Wikimedia Canada's chat room for a talk : #wikimedia-ca connect. Also, my experience at Université Laval, I bring my router plugged in the wall, and couple RJ45 to plug our PCs; and that was the best since we were not students, Wi-Fi was not available. And don't forget to bring multiplugs. Benoit Rochon (talk) 13:41, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If we schedule the meeting on Saturday then the whole day parking at CarletonU costs just 2 dollars. There are large parking lots beside Loeb Building and the University Center (close to OC Transpo station). --Deinocheirus (talk) 23:44, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Has there been any discussion about which articles we could look at working on? It occurred to me that, if we have enough people who are able to contribute in both official languages, we might consider working on some English-language articles that rely mostly on French-language sources, and vice versa. (I'm a bilingual anglophone.) This is just a suggestion though - feel free to tell me if you think it's a terrible idea. I definitely wouldn't want to exclude people based on language. Cheers, Dawn Bard (talk) 14:37, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So far, the best location for a meeting seems to be the Canadian Museum of Nature (240 McLeod) on Thursday April 11 between 5pm and 8pm when it closes. The entrance is free at this time, and the cafeteria is spacious enough to find a very quiet corner (just in case, I will be there half an hour in advance). Parking costs $5 for unlimited time starting from 4:30pm. Free parking is possible west of Bank street. Wi-Fi is free.
One of the reasons why I am proposing to have the meeting in the museum is to have an opportunity to discuss possible cooperation with museums under GLAM. I also contacted some libraries but rooms seem to be booked off for quite a long period in advance. --Dmitri Lytov (talk) 22:01, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If this location or time is not good for everybody, we can arrange a first meeting and then have another one in a week or two. --Dmitri Lytov (talk) 14:00, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
April 13 or 14 are also OK for me, but in this case it should be rather something like Bridgehead (see above about libraries booked-off and universities not having free Wi-Fi). Dmitri Lytov (talk) 17:30, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK place and time for me. Close to bus routes. Vir cotto (talk) 07:35, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Barring anything unforeseen, I will probably attend. Good idea about GLAM. --Deinocheirus (talk) 20:10, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh. Had to pick a Thursday... oh well. I may attend anyways. What will the topic be? -- Earl Andrew - talk 02:07, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would be interested in learning how to contribute to wikipedia, particularly articles related to Inuit and the arctic. is the meeting on the 11th of April confirmed? if so, is it appropriate for beginners to attend? InuitTapiriit (talk) 19:52, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is this definitive. Can I announce on Wikimedia Canada networks : April 11, from 5pm to 8pm, at Canadian Museum of Nature. Please confirm. Regards, Benoit Rochon (talk) 12:00, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I can see that only about a half of us can attend. So let's have this small meeting at CMN cafeteria, meet each other and prepare a draft agenda for a larger one, and will decide on its location later. Dmitri Lytov (talk) 13:37, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly suggest to just pick a date, there will always be some people who can't attend, no mather which date you choose. Benoit Rochon (talk) 14:38, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, let's consider the date and time chosen. Dmitri Lytov (talk) 18:29, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying you should make it on 11th, I'm just saying pick a date. And since there's a lot of people in Ottawa who looks interrested, maybe you can organise two?  :-) Héhé! Benoit Rochon (talk) 20:00, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I will be there. Or at least, there's a 90% chance I will be, and I'm going to bring a friend who is interested in getting more involved in Wikipedia. -- Earl Andrew - talk 21:38, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We are meeting in the Museum's cafeteria (I'd advise using one of the corners next to wending machines and farthest possible from the boutique - where it is quiet enough). Entrance is free after 5 pm, but if you want to come shortly before this time, please leave me a message, either in Wikipedia or by e-mail: don.lytov AT gmail.com (I'll keep checking it as often as possible, and will use my laptop during the meeting). I will be probably the earliest to come, and will be wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans. Dmitri Lytov (talk) 00:56, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I work until 5, so I will be 10-15 minutes late. -- Earl Andrew - talk 11:52, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I tweet about today's event (in EN and FR). Have a good Contribution day! Benoit Rochon (talk) 15:52, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck with your event! Please, if you can, take couple photos to upload to Commons. Amqui (talk) 17:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
FTR I will be wearing a Winnipeg Jets baseball cap. -- Earl Andrew - talk 20:54, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm at this location now. I don't see anyone else who arrived - only regular people eating in the café. --Sigma 7 (talk) 21:48, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was there from 1630 to 1730, saw Dmitri, presented myself and then I don't know where he went to? I left around 1730. Vir cotto (talk) 22:41, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure you saw me? It was probably you leaving the cafeteria just as we were entering it, but you did not talk to us. Dmitri Lytov (talk) 15:52, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We were in the back of the cafeteria, you had to go into the far corner, around the bend. It's too bad you missed us, it was fun... but we will be planning a follow up event, so maybe we can organize something better. -- Earl Andrew - talk 02:38, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Calgary, Alberta[edit]

I'd be interested,--SpenserTimothyAndrewRogerMolnar 12:35, 2 April 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spensermolnar (talkcontribs)

I would also be intereested in attending in Calgary. laniganj@telus.net 75.154.118.86 (talk) 20:15, 3 April 2013 (UTC) Jim L.[reply]

Since you are two, I suggest you get together and find a place where you can hold the event. Once publicize in the main list, more people will surely show their interest. Thanks, Amqui (talk) 16:58, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fredericton, New Brunswick[edit]

Wikipedia Contribution Month in Fredericton!
Thursday 25 April 6.30pm
Meet at Fredericton Public Library
12 Carleton St
Fredericton media outlets, such as the Here newspaper, are raising buzz about the city's Contribution Month event! Vpescanlar (talk) 01:34, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Might anyone else in Fredericton be interested in gathering to pump up/out some articles?

Where - We could meet at the Fredericton Public Library downtown for access to online and written source material, or anywhere else downtown thanks to Fred e-Zone wifi.

What - We could concentrate on Fredericton- or New Brunswick-related themes/articles: details about our city neighbourhoods, history, etc. Meeting at the Library would make getting citations from pre-digital sources ideal.

When - Weekday evenings after 6.30pm or weekends would work for me; once there's a few people signed up below I can make up a Doodle to hammer out the best time to meet.

Cheers! Vpescanlar (talk) 22:23, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm interested! HazelAB (talk) 16:30, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm interested too! Those times work for me. Weekday evening would be best. Bottleneckconsensus (talk) 23:17, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you HazelAB and Bottleneckconsensus for replying, and SaadKhan for signing up! Still hoping to get more replies, but by this weekend I'll create a Doodle with some dates and times (likely into the following weekend/week, 20 Apr onwards) for us to choose. In the meantime, please spread the word! Vpescanlar (talk) 22:08, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Three people is more than enough to get the ball rolling. More people will show up their interest once the event date and location is "officially" publicized. Thanks, Amqui (talk) 16:59, 11 April 2013 (UTC) P.S. Too bad I moved out West last summer, cause I would have definetly joined you.[reply]
Thanks Amqui for the note. Yes, too bad you can't make it - we'll definitely try to come up with some quality articles to remind you of life back here in Fredericton though! Vpescanlar (talk) 02:13, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, depending on what time (since timezones matter) you have your event I could be connected the same time and translate your new quality content into French. Keep us informed. Amqui (talk) 16:40, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks everyone so far for signing up - and anyone else who's lurking! I suggest we meet at the Fredericton Public Library, 12 Carleton St. Please use the Doodle at http://www.doodle.com/udng3u3u7ptadgiu to share when you're available. Based on the replies, I'll post a mutually-agreeable time by Wednesday 17 April. If none of those times work, or if you have another location to suggest, please reply on this talk page and we can all work something out.Vpescanlar (talk) 02:13, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply on the Doodle! It looks like Thursday 25 April at 6.30pm works. Let's meet at the Fredericton Public Library, 12 Carleton St - they are open until 9pm so we can work there and be able to look up books as needed, or if we end up wanting to work over coffee, there's plenty of options around downtown. I'll be the short Filipino guy in black squarish glasses. (Make sure the guy is short and Filipino, and the glasses are black and squarish.) See you then! Vpescanlar (talk) 23:39, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I guess tonight wasn't really good timing after all... but if anyone else in Fredericton is up to set up another time, I'd be game! Vpescanlar (talk) 22:06, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
