In this course, students will learn about the importance of considering their purpose, their audience, and the genre conventions of the text they are writing by engaging in a writing platform that is rarely used in college English classes: Wikipedia. Students will have the opportunity to publish, expand, and edit their own Wikipedia article in order to further the knowledge of the region and culture of Appalachia. This class is the students' opportunity to not only learn more about Appalachia, but also to help other people both inside and outside of the region to learn more about its history, culture, geography, etc.
