Issues to be mediated[edit]

Primary issues (added by the filing party)

The editor asserts that Mr Lee Kuan Yew is the only leader in the world that changed changed a country from third to first world in a single generation.

While it's true that he changed Singapore, there's other miracles outside Singapore. When I tried point out that Taiwan and Japan had parties ruling that went through similar phenomenon, he went to give some invalid citation that have the exact copy and paste from the article and said Taiwan changed from third and to first world but not within a generation. Taiwan founder led for 42 years. That's more than a generation. The issue of neutrality and validation of sources are in the spotlight. Pls refer to the talk page for further information.

Simply to put it: he is NOT the only person out there that led a country from third to first world.

Additional issues (added by other parties)
  • [1]: Lee480 said other countries succeeded as well, I pointed out the text states that only Lee did it in a single leadership.
  • [2]: He said Lee wasn't the only person who developed SG, I explained that that was why the word "leader" was used, cos he lead a team.
  • [3] And finally, he compared it to Japan ruling party, but thats a party, not a leader (a single person - it went though many leadership changes) so its an Apple-Orange comparison.
  • The Taiwan part Lee480 is trying to argue is that Taiwan and Japan similarly went through a similar phenomenon - yet you won't ever find Taiwan or Japan described with these specific words "third world to first in one generation", only Singapore. Because Taiwan and Japan were never described as "third word" much to begin with.
  • As to the definition of "Generation", its not up to us to argue what or how long a generation is. Rather I understand that Wikipedia requires us to show that as long as reliable sources agree with the usage of the word, its okay. If more sources are needed about the "third world to first in a generation", [4][5]. And note that I never said it as a fact, I just said that LKY was "described as a person who moved the country from third world to first in a generation", which has many sourced attributions.
