Your problem:[edit]

Since July of last year (when I started) I have been subjected to what I perceive as consistent incivility by User:MONGO, who enjoys broad support in the community (for this and other reasons). His abuse culminated with an attempt to intimidate me physically, which led to an AN/I, an informal mediation, and an RFC. Throughout the process I have been supported by a handful of editors who have themselves been attacked as "enablers" of vandalism and liars.

As a result of the broad support for MONGO during the RFC, and the equally broad (if somewhat ambivalent) denunciation of my work, I have so far decided to go inactive. I would like to know whether it really has to be as MONGO's supporters argue: namely, that because of what I do, I deserve the sort of treatment I am getting. At this point it looks like only ArbCom can decide this question for me.

The RFC gives a good indication of the problems I face and the sort of discussion that has resulted. While my immediate concern is to establish conditions under which I personally can work, there may be a larger community issue here as well. The articles in this area seem to be turning into a battleground.

Please note that I somewhat rashly have once taken my case to ArbCom (during the RFC), and withdrew it when I realized my aims had been misunderstood. It is to avoid this that I turn to the AMA. I look forward to hearing what an advocate might be able to accomplish in this case.
