Deletion[edit]

I noticed on the Salvatore Leone article on the GTA3 character page, that you deleted my contribution about him being from Sicily. This isn't fan fiction,if you go to the official Rockstar GTA3 site, click on Portland, then click on gentlemans club, you will see a Liberty Tree article which supports the information.

Photo removal[edit]

The photo of a kitten on your user page had been incorrectly labeled as being in the public domain. In reality, it is a stock photo that has not been licensed for Wikipedia, so I had to remove it. How to use Car Washes in GTA:SA[edit]

I'm pretty far along in the game (after picking up Sweet from prison) and I still don't know how to activate a car wash. How do I? --Shultz 21:24, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

((Reply issued at messager's talk page))
It just so happens that I have version 2.00, the one in which the Hot Coffee mod would be useless. If I get that car wash patch, wouldn't that screw up the game? --Shultz 05:19, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
((Reply issued at messager's talk page))

Second Question:[edit]

How do I get the Rhino Tank out of the Mulholland house garage? There's only one house with a garage in Mulholland that CJ owns, and I parked a tank in there before realizing that I can't push it out, enter the hatch to drive it out, nor even tow it out with a towtruck! This has been frustrating me for a good while now, as my last save was days ago. So, how do I get the tank out or destroyed? I know grenades won't do the job, and Ammunation isn't selling RPGs in that stage of the game, so what the heck can I do about this?

--Shultz 21:36, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it looks like I FINALLY did it by spawning a Hunter with the cheat "OHDUDE". It appears to only spawn BEHIND me (or the camera), so I made the camera face away from the garage! I spawned it and Voila, the tank was gone! The hunter took the spot maybe because of some spacing conflict in the code. As I didn't have an interest for the Hunter yet, I decided to grenade it.
However, what'll happen if I save the game after I cheated? --Shultz 22:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
((Reply issued at messager's talk page))
You didn't mention cheats to spawn vehicles though. You mentioned weapons and armor. The only cheats I've ever made were to spawn a Hunter once or twice, and a Rhino several times. Nothing else, so does it still prevent me from reaching 100%? --Shultz 05:21, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural impact of video games[edit]

Well, thanks for totally deleting the piece I typed about the cultural impact of video games. In the article it said "This section is a stub. You can help by adding to it.", so I thought, well, let's add! Maybe we'd just delete the paragraph about cultural impact altogether then? What's the problem with having a little overlap? I mean, just because there's an entire article about video game controversy doesn't mean there can't be a short piece about it in the article about pc games, does it? Anyway, I really don't appreciate the fact you just deleted all of what I typed. Couldn't you instead just have added a link to the controversy article, as in "read more here..." or "see main article: controversy" ?? I added some really useful sources (links) aswel, but I don't really feel encouraged to add them to the controversy article now. I mean YOU could have done that too after you delete my contribution. You know, it's so easy to delete other people's contributions when you feel they aren't necessary, but consider the effect it has on the other person's wiki-productivity, or "wiki-appetite" if you will. Well thanks for your reply. I may have reacted a little bit heated myself. But anyway, if you can agree, I'd like to place a shortened version, together with a link to the full article about video game controversy. Personally, I do think a short few lines about it in the main article about pc games won't hurt, in fact it may stimulate people to browse to the controversy article. If you're okay with it, I'll do it anytime soon when I have time. (RagingR2 13:39, 5 April 2006 (UTC))[reply]

For hurricanes, the categories are in a particular order: first the basin, then the season, then the strength, then the location. This makes it easy for editors (i.e., me) to see at a glance that each categorization is present. — jdorje (talk) 18:57, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you clumsily commented on my user name without researching it very well - the Þ (or thorn) was originally used in Latin and gradually and you commented that it is not a Latin letter. And in Latin, the language of my Church, which is the most powerful organisation on Earth: Abyssus , vos rudis ineo in meus user nomen vacuus researching is valde puteus Þ ( vel thorn ) eram exemplar adsuesco assuesco in Latin quod sensim quod vos ineo ut is est non a Latin tabellae. Just looking through your changes at the GTA gangs page[edit]

Hey, I noticed that you made this edit to the List of gangs in Grand Theft Auto series article and wanted to mention that, in early copies of Vice City for the PlayStation 2 (as well as its strategy guide), the gun make and model were used (i.e., "Colt 45", "Uzi", "MP5", "Ruger" etc.). I suppose Rockstar had to use generic terms in later games to avoid legal problems, but nontheless the real gun names were used, so I'll change it back. By the way, I apologize for changing the "Forelli Exsess" vehicle name to "Excess"- I wasn't paying attention to the game and didn't realize the "s" was correct. HL2 Character Headshots[edit]

Hello, ZS. I'm trying to contact any HL article editors I can find (Although I can't find many, if any who appear to be common editors of all Half-Life related articles) regarding some mass edits made by GaMeRuInEr. There isn't one common place to discuss HL wiki realted things, so I'm just adding this to relevant user talk pages (As opposed to adding this to every single article discussion page which has been affected).

User GaMeRuInEr has recently gone through every single HL2 character article and added, or replaced, the main character headshots with his own. However, I don't think some of his screenshots are an improvement over the originals for reasons I am listing here:

(Forgive my choice of wording with some of these, because although I actually only intend for you and the few other people I'm going to try to contact to read this, I wrote it hoping that somehow everyone involved with editing HL articles would see this)

  • All of his pictures appear to be taken in a model viewer with a black background (It might be just spawned models in Garry's Mod's black room, but the results are the same), while the original screenshots of these characters were taken in-game in environments where they were actually encountered (moody lighting and all). I feel that these black void pictures don't do the characters justice as these are supposed to be, although fictional, people deeply involved in an expanding plotline that's quite indepth compared to other games. Putting them in front of a black background makes them feel very far removed from the games' reality, and somewhat awkward if you ask me. I have no problem with model viewer screenshots for generic enemies (Such as Combine soldiers, Xen creatures, etc.), but these are unique characters in the game, so I believe that the in-game shots were very suitable for their articles.
  • Also, the black color tend to make certain models blend into the background, which is especially true for any character with black hair (However, I'm not implying that all these pictures should be redone with a different color background).
  • As another side effect of taking a screenshot from a model viewer (Or spawned models in Garry's Mod), none of the characters have facial expressions. They just use the default blank expression, which looks kind of creepy and doesn't really occur as such in-game. Since realistic facial expressions are one of the most significant features of the Source engine, and what makes these character seem more lifelike and believable, I think the in-game shots are far more appropriate in this regard.
  • All of his pictures have been uploaded as png's. Now, I have nothing against the image format, but it's just not necessary for these types of pictures. These aren't simple 256-color, low-resolution game screenshots that the png format works so well with; these are fancy high-poly character models with the works. Png files in this case just make images needlessly large (One of his uploaded pictures in png format is 1mb). A jpeg can have twice the resolution at half the size with a more than acceptable quality level.
  • Just a nitpick here, but he neglected to add an image license to all of his uploaded pictures. It wouldn't be terribly difficult to go through all 25 or so pictures he uploaded and add a license, but since I'm arguing to remove some of them, I don't think the effort would be put to good use.

Now, I'm not saying that all of his uploaded pictures or all of his edits are bad, but I disagree with the headshots he has added (And in some cases, replaced entirely). I don't mean to offend this person as he seems to be new, but I think he was just a bit overzealous with his first actions. I would like to revert his headshot pictures the originals, but I don't want to act without some sort of discussion and consensus first. I have only been able to contact to one other person about this, though.

I am also posting this on my talk page so there can be a common place for this discussion (I really don't mean to make this a big issue, though). Anyway, thank you for your time and help in the matter. MarphyBlack 15:12, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know I have the discussion thing on my page, but it seems that GaMeRuInEr hasn't been around for a few days now. Most of his pictures may get deleted soon as most of them don't have image licenses anyway, so unless he responds in the next few days, his images may get removed anyway. I am arguing for the removal of some of his pictures from the articles, though. MarphyBlack 14:24, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Gauss Cannon[edit]

I just wanted to point out that the weapon mounted on the Hunter-Chopper and later on Gordon's airboat is very specifically identified as a "Gauss Cannon" several times in the HL2 Prima game guide (And at one point misspelled as 'Guass' Cannon). The guide refers to the weapon on the dune buggy as a "Tau Cannon", thereby avoiding confusion with the name of the HL1 weapon (Although I'm sure everyone knows that name anyway). City 17[edit]

Hi there! I added on the City 17 page that the city was on the seashore, but you disagreed. But when you get out of Ravenholm to get the buggy, you can see by viewing the citadel that you're not far from the City, you're in the suburbs. And it's a big City, since Breen wanted to establish his admin. there. So I think City 17 is on the seashore, Gordon didn't walk 1000km from it to get to the sea, since City 17 is on the seashore, I think. So, what do you think? List of Combine Technology etc[edit]

Hi ZS, thought I'd drop you a line since you seem to be a regular maintainer of the HL2 stuff. What do you make of the NPOV claim posted on Talk:List of Combine non-combat technology in Half-Life 2? Because of the rather antagonistic tone and the failure to mention any specifics or to actually remedy any of the alleged problems, my first thought is that it's just someone trolling. I've asked them to go into more detail, but given the somewhat unhelpful attitude so far I'm not sure that any will be forthcoming, so do you think that the (somewhat peculiar choice of) NPOV warning should remain on the article?

PC Box art for NFS: MW[edit]

You ask me why the PC box art is more important than the X360 one? What are you sitting in front of right now? What are you using to view Wikipedia?

Although it is widely known that MW was an X360 launch title, using its box art for the article here in Wikipedia doesn't suggest at all that it was a launch title. PS2 has had a lot of exclusive titles and their articles here use the PS2 box art(of course!!). Does this mean that they were all launch titles for PS2? Definitely not!

Using the PC box art in Wikipedia makes more sense because Wikipedia was developed for viewing on Personal Computers(rather, Wikipedia is meant to be accessed with a PC). I hope you take my comment in the right sense.

As a general rule of thumb, I say that the PC box art should be used for all games that have a PC version.

P.S.: Okay, exceptions like Halo can be allowed. Let's discuss this...

Hey ZS - Sorry about the edit. Personnally, I was unaware that you could do that on nearly all the NFS games, it's just that it seems wierd to me to you can tune a car during a pursuit (even though the tuning options are too simple in Most Wanted IMO), so I thought it would be worth mentioning it and I was going to add that it seemed "wierd" to have such an option during a pursuit but not for a race, but I don't mind.--Skully Collins 15:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images in the Black Mesa Research Facility article[edit]

There is currently a discussion at the BMRF article concerning the images being used. Specifically, an admin, Geni, believes that there are too many, and has already cut way over half the images that were previously in the article. He says that the number of images was not in accordance with Wiki's fair use criteria. In order to meet this policy, I believe that a certain and specific number should be kept. Since you took or updated many of the images, I would greatly appreciate your opinion on the images I have proposed to keep. However, Geni has already added the orphaned fair use tag to many of the images, so they will be deleted in about five days. I don't mean to hasten your response, but unfortunately a time limit has been imposed in this case. :( MarphyBlack 03:17, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SimCity 3000 screenshot[edit]

I feel that the in-game screenshot of SimCity 3000 that features the World Trade Center should be deleted and replaced with an image that does not contain it, since the WTC is a highly sensitive issue. I understand that the screenshot is used in the discussion to demonstrate the gameplay, however I feel that the image as it is may not be keeping in with a NPOV, since some people may become upset by it. Surely, having the WTC in the screenshot is not necessary to illustrate the play of the game. I feel that the image should be replaced with a similar in-game screenshot, but without the WTC. I don't have a problem personally with the image. I was just concerned in case anyone else would have found discontentment with it. I apologize if my comment was at all disconcerting. You did a good job on that city, too, by the way. Stovetopcookies 03:34, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, ZS. I was surprised to see that you replaced the PC box art with the PS2 one, after all, you had agreed that the PC box art of games that have a PC version should be used. Today, I got a message from one of the admins that the Image:NFS U PC.jpg was orphaned. I saw that you reverted it because of the EA Classics cover. Could you replace the cover with a standard PC box art instead? Because whenever I upload a new version of any picture, it doesn't get changed. Regards rohith 14:37, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: NFS:U[edit]

I can't replace an image with a new version of that image. The old version will still be displayed, with the dimensions stretched/shortened to that of the new image. And, it doesn't get cured by clearing my browser's cache either. And mine is a broadband, too(384kbps). Anyway, what I was trying to say was that could you upload a new version of Image:NFS U PC.jpg or Image:Nfsubox.jpg?(As opposed to uploading an image as a new file altogether) And could you upload the PC box art this time? rohith 17:19, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering whether you could upload a new PC box art and replace either of the existing ones.(I'm nearing my max. data transfer limit) rohith 18:04, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GTA Navigational boxes[edit]

I noticed that you have redesigned the navigational boxes on the bottom of GTA related articles. I personally believe that the following template would be better because it is what most articles seem to be using. Also when many different sized and / or styled navigational boxes are placed at the bottom of an article it can look quite unpleasant. This template could be used for all GTA related navigation boxes too.

Seconds From Disaster[edit]

You sent me a message earlier about whether the articles i was doing was based on the seconds from disaster program and in fact it is. I've put stuff which i picked up from s.f.d on the articles is because some things which were on the previous articles did not have enough info about what really happened. For example the American Airlines 587 article previously said why the tail fin came off. when i saw s.f.d i decided to put points i picked up and put them in the article so that people know the reasons weren't caused by something else, say a fault in the fin itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by B06Todd (talkcontribs)

Reply: The last post that you had provided doesn't indicate that it was concerning who is editing who (it would be appreciated if sufficient details are included when discussing in this talk page), and as such, left me to assume that the post is referring to casual discussions. Neither have I expected one to direct a message to the wrong user and leave the message uncorrected for almost a day.

On that note, have you looked into the history page of the article again? The page should locate specific editors who made specific edits accurately. You could also try additionally to bring up discussions on article changes in the article's talk page as well (although the likeliness of replies varies from topic to topic).

Btw, I've used GTAForums with few conflicts with other forum goers; it's expected to be a proper place to discuss GTA topics as long as one has proper etiquettes. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 16:28, 7 December 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories box.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories box.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 17:51, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GTA Gang Edit War[edit]

Man this is rediculous! What do you think of all this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Craxy (talkcontribs) 08:58, 17 December 2006.

Reply: Given the current edit war has been prolonged by one editor, it's not as serious as it is. But he/she failed to respond to any calls to discuss the change in a talk page, and continued to perform similar reversion without any justifications (despite the disapproval of several editors). RIght now, it looks like the editor was temporarily blocked for 24 hours for clearly violating the 3RR. We'll see if he/she will cool down and opt to discuss this issue properly, or not. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 12:43, 18 December 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

All right! It just seems like there's been so much changing and I'm getting a little confused.

Request for Article Protection[edit]

Since people either refuse to or just don't think to or know to discuss the verification of information on the "List of GTA gangs" article, I vote for a lockdown of the article to force people to go to the talk page and help us decide the fate of said article. The edit war (if it ever slowed down) is somewhat beginning to pick back up, if not a little bit. I think something has got to be done, because this is somewhat ridiculous. I'm still fairly new, so I don't want to do anything outside of the proper channels, which is why i come to you; should i lock down the page, and, if not, which course of action should be taken, if any? BishopTutu 06:41, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind. It's been taken care of; the page has been locked down right now. BishopTutu 03:26, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May i ask[edit]

How the fuck do i revert because i want to bring back the Vice City Triads. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sean mc sean (talkcontribs) 01:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Reply: Each page has a history page (like this history page, for example), which contains every single revision made since the article's creation, created each time the article has been edited. In order to locate removed content, you have to backtrack to earlier revisions, and click the link that reads as the time and day that each new revision is created. After opening any previous revision, you can view the raw content of the article by selecting the "edit this page" tab (but you can't change previous reversions), and selecting any wanted contents to be amended at the current revision. In the case of the Triads section, you may need to search a few revisions before you can find it, because certain revisions may or may not contain the section (because it was removed or not at the time).
Help:Page history should provide detailed guides on how to use these pages. hope that helps. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 12:43, 18 December 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Command & Conquer: Red Alert Series Story[edit]

Why did you delete The Command & Conquer: Red Alert Series Story? that page was awsome when I first read it I loved it and i printed it out and right after that my computer died and it took me two whole years to get another computer and I lost my Printed copy of the story and I went looking for the page on wikipedia and to find out it was deleted by you and I was just wondering if you could restore it or send me a new copy of it if you can? i would be very happy so if you do this send it to my talk page at Protos99

Reply: You must have the wrong person. I was never involved with any changes made on the said article (nor am I an administrator to be capable of deleting articles), so I can't help you in this. But if I recall, WP:NOT and WP:FICTION do not recommend an article that serves solely to provide plot summaries, so the deletion is justifiable. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 08:58, 31 December 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]
