Welcome![edit]

Hello, Yoke0003, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Brianda and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Information icon Hello, I'm MaybeitsMir. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Frank Oppenheimer, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Additionally, the language used in your additions is far from neutral, and simply seems to be complimenting the subject, which is not allowed. miranda :3 21:35, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Check out WP:PUFFERY for some more info on the sort of non-neutral language I'm talking about. miranda :3 21:37, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, Yoke0003. Listen, I'm sorry to have to say this, but what's happening with your edits is something that happens a lot when students are assigned Wikipedia editing as a course assignment: much or most of the material you're adding (or as seen in [1], which you seem to be drawing from), while it may be fine in other contexts (such as an expository essay, term paper, or thesis), is inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. Surely you can appreciate that phrasing such as his endless accomplishments ... life and work transcended the iconic Exploratorium ... testament to his innovative spirit ... Gone were the days ... beacon of inspiration ... transformative power ... unique confluence of experiences ... transformative stint ... passionate advocate ... deep commitment to humanity reflected a multifaceted personality ... monument to his vision, a vibrant testament have no place in what is supposed to be a detached biography.
To be frank, it's often unrealistic of an instructor to expect students to absorb enough of Wikipedia's rules within a few weeks or months to be able to contribute substantial new content. However, in the past it's been my impression that instructors credit students for having made the attempt, whether or not the material "sticks". EEng 23:34, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
