Hi there, Welcome to my talk page.

Happy Editing and God Bless to all!

Hello and Welcome and Response[edit]

Hey there WhitePal! Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm glad you've decided to join the editing side of this important project, and I hope I can be of help. (Mind if I ask how you decided to contact me? Just curious.) If you haven't already done so, it's important to read The Five Pillars of Wikipedia, and explore some of those linked pages in depth. Lots of people have written lots of great stuff to help new editors.

Sarah Geronimo looks solid at first glance; articles about film and music personalities usually aren't as controversial as politics, history, or religion. However, it's good that you're striving to achieve a Neutral Point of View. Can you tell me a bit about why you're nervous about remaining neutral? I assume you're a fan of hers? Are there certain areas in the article which you're most worried about?

Alas, I am very very busy right now, so I can't promise to do a full review of the complete article. However, I am friends with a number of superb people here on Wikipedia, who may have some time to help out. (And all of whom are very friendly.) It can't hurt to leave a message on their talk pages, to see if they have a minute to take a look. Moni3 is an administrator and does lots of editing work. Figureskatingfan has done several Featured Articles and has worked on several entertainment-related pieces. And Scorpion0422 has worked a lot with TV articles.

Once again: Welcome! Scartol • Tok 12:50, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah Geronimo images[edit]

No, the images can't be used here because they are tagged on Flickr as for "non-commercial use only". Our licensing terms don't allow that kind of release - it has to be for all uses. If it didn't have the NC tag on the Flickr license, you'd be good to go. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:39, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure what you are changing. The image sources are both still tagged as being permitted for non-commercial use only. (ESkog)(Talk) 15:30, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • No, the image is still tagged as non-commercial, even after I clear my cache. I'll give you some time before I delete again, but please double-check that you've made the proper release on Flickr. (ESkog)(Talk) 15:41, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Those licenses look better now. You can use the "self" templates if you want, since they are your own work, but the CC templates will also work fine. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:08, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops[edit]

WP, I just saw that I had promised to review the Sarah G. article and that was two weeks ago! Sorry for the flakiness; my husband blames it on my blondeness. Actually, I'm more gray than blonde these days, but he insists that it's a state of mind. Then I withdraw certain favors from him, and we're even. ;) Anyway, if you like, I can still review it, probably tonight as I'm watching figure skating during the Olympics. Let me know. --Christine (talk) 17:13, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WP, I finally got around to reviewing this article. I'll try and do a copyedit in the coming days. Thanks for the opportunity; I learned lots! --Christine (talk) 07:51, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah G[edit]

Hi there, thought I'd answer your question over here. I looked at some the sources you added to Sarah's article. Like I said before, I think that the article needs a good source review, and I'm willing to do that down the line. Before that, though, I think it could benefit from some fresh eyes. I'd like to get another reviewer's take on the sources, for example. I think that this article depends a little bit too much on too few sources, like Sarah's webpage. Sometimes the subject's webpage is the only source out there, especially when it comes to film and TV credits. Before I do that, though, I think it'd be a good idea to submit this for a peer review. I suggest submitting it here: WP:PR. There's a huge backlog there, so I would also request an editor to do a peer review. They'll have more suggestions for the sources and the images, and go over my faulty prose. The next step after that, I think, would be my source review, and then I think you can submit it for good article review. Don't worry; all the hard work will be worth it, and rest assured, you'll learn loads. ;) --Christine (talk) 04:39, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back too[edit]

Hi WP, saw your note on my talk page. Sorry to hear about your 'puter woes. I was gone, too, and only for about a week, but mostly due to general burn-out and weariness. I want to return to my past editing as well. I'm also glad that you're gonna go back to editing about Sarah G; let me know any way I can help. Christine (talk) 11:18, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed blackout in protest of R.A.10175[edit]

Dear White paladin888,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 14, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

Tito Pao (talk) 02:16, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah Geronimo[edit]

Products and endorsements[edit]

Not sure if I'll add this.

In 2004, Geronimo signed with Jollibee for a promotional deal, including several appearance on TV commercials, as well as radio jingles and Internet advertisements.[1]

Replaceable fair use File:Santino MBP.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Santino MBP.JPG. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 17:57, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
