File names in articles[edit]

Information icon Please do not change the name of files in articles as you did to Yashwantrao Holkar. It breaks the link to the file. I have corrected the mistake. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "Show preview" button is right next to the "Publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask on my talk page, or to post at the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Sam Sailor 16:15, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Nikhar[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Nikhar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Nikhar/Neekhar[edit]

Nikhar/Neekhar / (निखर हिन्दी में)

"Nikhar" is a sub-caste of Gadaria society. Neekhar was a cattle herder and nomadic clan which is now known as Gadaria. Nikhars are called Himalayan Shepherds because the Nikhar clan is associated with the shepherds of Himachal Pradesh who are known as Gaddi Pal. Until they were settled during the British rule, the Nikhar people used to roam around with their livestock, sheep and goats during the summer season. They used to go to the Himalayan Mountains and come to the Terai region when it snows, that is why the Nikhar caste is found only in the Terai region.
The shepherds of Himachal Pradesh are called Gaddi Pal or Gaddi Puhal. Pal itself is called Puhal in the Pahari dialect of Himachal. 99 percent of the Nikhars use the surname Pal. Some people of the Nikhar community also use the surname Baghel because the Nikhar people used to kill lions and baghels in the forests to protect their sheep, due to which they also came to be called by the surname Baghel.
Nikhar is called Hatkar in Maharashtra. Nikhar people are a warrior, fearless and fearless caste. Hatkar (Nikhar) were the bodyguards of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
In ancient times, the Neekhaar clan used to take herds of sheep and goats from one place to another in search of pasture for grazing, due to which these people kept traveling all over India.
Every person of the Neekhar caste had a herd of thousands of sheep. Along with sheep and goats, the Neekhar shepherds also kept a herd of indigenous breed of cows with them. The place where sheep and goats live is called "Rivada" (barn). These people also used to make blankets from the wool obtained from sheep. These people were also very skilled weavers.

These people used to earn their living in old times by selling milk and blankets. Even today, the Neekhar people have big dairy industries in the surrounding districts of Delhi. The famous and best quality "Garhwal Paneer" of Delhi NCR is the gift of the Neekhar (Gadriya) community. A large number of industries named as "Lakshmi Dairy", "Lakshmi Ice Cream" and "Pal Dairy" can be seen in Delhi NCR. Nikhar (shepherd) is the only caste that believes in Sanatan Hinduism.

The family deity of Nikhar caste is Lord Adi Shankar Pashupatinath.
And people of Nikhar caste believe in all the Hindu Gods and Goddesses like Lord Vishnu, Mata Lakshmi, Lord Shri Ram, Lord Shri Krishna etc.
"Nikhar shepherds" are known by different names like: - Among the shepherds of North India, they are known by the name Nikhar.
In Malwa and Mewar, Nikhar is called Purbiya Gari/Gadriya (Gadriya) and Kambalia Gari/Gadriya (Gadriya).
In Gujarat, Nikhar is called Mota Bhai Bharwad (Gadriya).
In Maharashtra, Nikhar is known as Hatkar (Mendhpal/Gadariya).
In Karnataka/Andhra Pradesh/Telangana/Tamil Nadu they are known as Hatti Kankan (Kuruba/Gadariya)

Origin of the word Nikhar "Nikhar" is a Sanskrit word which means "pure", "pure (Nikadu)" or "pure native or pure Indian". In rural areas, the best shepherds are called pure Indians or pure natives.
