Information icon Hello, I'm ButterCashier. I noticed that you recently removed content from Samarra without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ButterCashier (talk) 09:07, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the note above: please do not delete content that is supported by cited sources and then replace it with material that does not cite any sources, as you did at Assyrian people. All content on Wikipedia must be verifiable, and original research (content that you believe is correct but is not supported by reliable sources) is not permitted. If you believe there are problems with the existing content of an article but you're not sure how to improve it, you can also raise this issue at the article's talk page instead. R Prazeres (talk) 17:19, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to List of Indigenous peoples, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at List of indigenous peoples, you may be blocked from editing. Donald Albury 16:43, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I accidentally submitted the changes without explaination. I made another edit and explained both it and my previous edits in that one. I know it’s messy but i do not know how to edit a submitted edit summary. Please revert my deleted edits if you know how :) TruthInMesopotamia (talk) 01:26, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi? I’m confused as to why I’m getting this message? I’ve literally put through through paragraphs of explainations about the changes that need to be made, particularly in the edit section. Please revert this asap and let me know why you have removed all my contributions. I provided more than adequate explainations not only in my edit summaries but specifically in the talk page. Please fix this asap. TruthInMesopotamia (talk) 12:22, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

THis[1] is nonsense. You're deleting sourced text, writing " though a larger majority of the population identifies as irreligious." - what in the world is a "larger majority"? Do you know what "majority" even means? I don't have the energy to look at the rest of your edits.@Donald Albury@ScottishFinnishRadish@R Prazeres@Pizzaplayer219 ANI or block? Doug Weller talk 13:49, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure but I am leaning towards an ANI due to the fact that they are a new editor and to perhaps get them a second chance. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 14:08, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No strong conviction on my part, but ANI is probably reasonable as it seems like they've started with bad habits that could change if they take feedback seriously. If they continue this behaviour in the short term, though, a block would be helpful. R Prazeres (talk) 15:33, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that’s what I meant. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 15:34, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah agreed. Also, presumably obvious anyways but I forgot to mention we should continue to keep an eye on their image uploads too (see below). R Prazeres (talk) 15:37, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see evidence in the user's edits that they understand how to edit on Wikipedia. If a trip to ANI helps the user to learn how to edit properly, great. If they do not mend their ways, however, they will end up blocked. - Donald Albury 15:47, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Doug Weller, probably needs ANI as the edits aren't clear vandalism and they're engaging in discussion. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:06, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ScottishFinnishRadish agreed, but I still don’t have the energy. Doug Weller talk 16:08, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, TruthInMesopotamia

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Red-tailed hawk, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Mount Ridley College, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Red-tailed hawk}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

An article you recently created, Great Anish (Al-anīsh al-Kabīr), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:49, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not mark edits as minor unless they really are minor[edit]

I noticed that most of your recent edits on Religion in South Korea were marked as minor when they involved major changes in the article such as removal of a pie chart (admittedly I think there is an overuse of pie charts but removing/adding one is not a minor change). Marking as minor such changes looks suspiciously like trying to hide the changes which, as a new editor, you might not be aware of. Best practice would be to restrict minor to changes that do not change content (e.g., minor changes are fixing broken links, correcting typos or grammatical errors, or similar). I've also started a discussion on the article talk page about the changes which in the meantime I have rolled back. Erp (talk) 13:12, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Sorry about that, as a new editor that’s my mistake for not knowing what would be considered minor. The reason why I feel that you should roll back on your roll back and restore the changes I made is because the 2015 census is, while admittedly yes, used by government websites and such, not really a census. It was an online survey that was only a sample of the population, and the huge drop and then rise in religious belief (mostly Christianity and Buddhism) in 2005–>2015–>2020 is because the 2015 census was only really surveyed South Koreans who actively used the internet and chose to participate- and wasn’t a proper full-population government census like the 2005 one or the ones in the rest of the world (it wasn’t really a census as defined by surveying the full population). Its data very strangely implies that there was a massive random dip and then surge in religious belief in the ten years since 2005 and the 5 years to the implied religious revival in 2020. The census has been a point of small controversy in South Korea, with Christians particularly speaking out against it and then not being represented. I admittedly also did not want simply delete the 2015 census and data, so thought it best to be moved it into a new subcategory. If you could please restore all the changes that I put through over these last few days as soon as you have a change (and possibly offer a solution as to where the 2015 census information should go if you know) that would be really great :) thank you! TruthInMesopotamia (talk) 13:35, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the piechart a are all glitched out but they should fix themselves in the edit restoration. Im not too sure why they weren’t autogenerating correctly but they managed to fix themselves after I changed the colours to better visualise the charts. TruthInMesopotamia (talk) 13:37, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect the glitching is a caching problem with your browser. Time (or a reload) will fix it. Note you should take the discussion on content up on the talk page for Religion in South Korea. Erp (talk) 23:45, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:SacredHeartCathedralFiji.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:SacredHeartCathedralFiji.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Vladlen Manilov / 16:34, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:SudanChristians.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SudanChristians.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 17:15, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page File:SacredHeartCathedralFiji.jpg has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/sacred-heart-cathedral-43779.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. —C.Fred (talk) 17:17, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:ChurchTongaCentral.webp[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ChurchTongaCentral.webp. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. You cannot upload files you find on the internet[edit]

I just deleted a file you uploaded after finding it on Shutterstock. You cannot upload images that you found on the internet unless they are clearly marked as being under a free license. If you continue to violate copyright by uploading images of that nature, you may be blocked from editing. —C.Fred (talk) 18:54, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TruthInMesopotamia: As a new user you might not be aware that you can search in commons for pictures which you can use (unless recently uploaded and not checked). Also note that copyright is rigorously checked as violations can lead to legal trouble for Wikipedia. --Erp (talk) 03:33, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@C.Fred I think we have a CIR issue here, not just with uploads but mainly with English, making changes that don't make sense. I don't think we can let this continue. Doug Weller talk 08:27, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:SudanChristians.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag and if necessary, a complete fair use rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Neutrality[edit]

Hi there, TIM. Wikipedia is based on a neutral point of view. Your Username suggests that you may not be so committed to maintaining Wikipedia's neutrality when it comes to topics such as Assyrians, Chaldeans, Mesopotamia, heredity and ethnicity of such areas. You have also garnered numerous warnings already on your talk page in a short period of time here on Wikipedia.

I must duly warn you that the Assyria/Chaldean topic areas of Wikipedia are infested by nationalist intent and very few people are able to hold themselves to neutrality when editing articles. I hope that you can rise above this and rely on the reliable secondary sources especially scholarly articles and publications, when it comes to such topic areas. It is, of course, also helpful to have a collaborative attitude and respect for other editors' contributions.

TIM, can I count on you for those commitments? Elizium23 (talk) 06:03, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My name was simply random and the name Holy Qurbana is the name of the Eucharist not the mass, which is what the women are doing. The women are Chaldean Catholics, who are by, all scholarly accounts, ethnically Assyrians. As it is the Assyrian page, I specified that they are Chaldean Catholic Assyrians. I’m not some nationalist, that’s just what they are. The Holy Qurbana thing is true, it would be like saying that Roman Catholics are “attending the Eucharist”. It’s a Catholic mass. TruthInMesopotamia (talk) 13:00, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi TruthInMesopotamia! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Peter Phillips that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.
