Recommended software

I will not push the matter, but I came here to see if I could find a list of software that they recommend. Steve has alot of insight into how they work, and as many of them are freeware and/or open source I didn't think it was controversial. Would it be better if I make the links point to other wikipedia pages instead of the download pages?

Removed Links

All links that I left were all relating to the subjects. (For Example: I left links to the 'Ford Sierra' Owners Club under 'Ford Sierra'.) I do not consider these links to be inappropriate (if anything they are useful as it took me years finding a owners club for my Ford Sierra XR4x4). Please could you explain why these are inappropriate.

Re. linkspam edits

All of the links I removed I looked at first (Yes, it did remove the spam note. That was because I considered that I had removed the existing spam, the reason I did the edit in the first place was to remove the spam.) I considered that they were not useful or helpful in any way, just contained a load of information that he Wikipedia already has.

All of the links I added were not to promote sites. The links I added were to help out other users. If there is something wrong with posting Owners Clubs then maybe you should check here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mondeo because it has its own owners club section. If you have noticed (a sign of me not being a spammer) all the words were correctly written. Everything was checked over and edited again to make it easier to understand and read. Spammers just post random stuff promoting a website of no use at all and not relating to the subject in any way, and then leave it incorrectly written.

Re. linkspam edits 2

I get where you are coming from now. Just to let you know that the links I added to the Ford Fiesta Article I am not connected with (but the ones I added to the Ford Sierra Article I am). I would be happy to put back the links I deleted and also putting up a selection of Owners Clubs (to both Ford Sierra and Ford Fiesta). Please let me know if you wnat me to put the links back.
