Wikipedia mirrors

Hi. First, let me say how glad I am that you're still plugging away at copyvios. :D We really need you. I hope you will be well and thoroughly addicted by the time you do pick up your admin tools, as we still have such a shortage of copyvio admins.

Specifically, I'm here to discuss a special situation you encountered on Aamir Ghauri. This was tagged by CorenSearchBot, but you removed the tag as a "Wikipedia mirror." True enough; it is. But strange as it seems, this does not eliminate copyvio concerns; it just means we have to figure out how this content got placed as "new" on Wikipedia by this contributor and if he had the right to place it here. For example, did he copy or split it from an existing article? Did he salvage an article that had been deleted? Either way, unless he was the sole contributor of the earlier version, he can't place the text here without acknowledging his source as required under re-use at the copyright policy. In this particle case, the article is a WP:CSD#G4. Since I can see the contributor list, I know that it is also a copyvio, as this was not the creator of the text originally. If the previous article had been deleted by PROD, I'd be restoring the history for attribution and, if the deletion rationale seemed valid, nominating for AfD.

Back to it, but I wanted to stop and explain. These don't show up that often, but they do pop up now and again and they require a bit of sleuthing. :) If you find one and need to view the history, please feel free to pop by my talk page, and I can help figure out if there are attribution issues. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:24, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

I apologize for the confusion between CC-By-NC 3.0 and CC-By-SA 3.0, thanks for the correction. I have rewritten the sentences that were too close from the main source, and added other references, which helped having more accurate information. Please, can you see wether this is now acceptable ? With many thanks in advance, --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 20:09, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Many thanks, I'll remember the difference. Sorry again for the trouble. All the best. --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 20:22, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Copyright

It's taken direct from the Refuge website, which is a product of the federal government and consequently in public domain. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:28, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Sure, it's my pleasure. Apparently there are a lot of mirrors of NWR websites out there - tourist websites, mainly - which clouds the issue considerably. I left Coren a note on his talkpage explaining what my sources are for these. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:49, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Ser Amantio di Nicolao. I hope TL doesn't mind my jumping in here. Thanks for providing the attributions to the source. I just wanted to mention that it is also suggested that you make a note about the source in your edit summary when it is copied text. For example, when creating Clear Lake National Wildlife Refuge, your first edit summary could say, text copied from PD website http://www.fws.gov/Refuges/profiles/index.cfm?id=81647. This is our preferred procedure at WP:Plagiarism#Public domain sources. It may help in keeping some of the unwanted CV tags off the article. But, more importantly, it is very helpful later on, after other editors have changed or altered the original text. Good luck with your editing. CactusWriter | needles 09:02, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

WikiCup submissions

Hi, please see Wikipedia talk:WikiCup#Why should you get credit for these?. iMatthew talk at 18:50, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. :) Thanks for the clean up on that one (and all the other ones you clean up :D), but wanted to point out that the link is a problem under WP:LINKVIO. We can link to music lyrics if they are hosted legally, but not when they are a violation of copyright. In any event, I am redirecting this one per WP:MUSIC, as it doesn't indicate stand-alone notability.--Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:51, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know! :) Yeah, redirecting the article seems like a good idea (why didn't I think of that?!). Theleftorium 20:04, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Jacksonville

I have double checked the new version and I assure you that every sentence is different. I think the history is far more comprehensive and draws from more sources than the article which you cite. Thanks. Racepacket (talk) 15:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for specifying your concerns. All four of the sentences you cited are different:

  • On March 1, 1847, the legislature established a nine-member board of trustees that was empowered to appoint a superintendent, purchase land within four miles of Jacksonville, and construct facilities for the Illinois State Asylum and Hospital for the Insane. (both paraphrased the statute)
  • All patients were to be maintained at state expense. However, patients or their counties were expected to pay for clothing, travel, and incidental expenses. (This will be fixed.)
  • At that time, the board of trustees was reduced to three members and the newly created Board of State Commissioners of Public Charities was given authority to investigate and report to the Governor on conditions at the hospital. (This will be fixed.)
  • From 1944 to 1974 the hospital provided training in psychiatric nursing for participated in a departmental affiliation program for psychiatric nursing which provided instruction in psychiatric nursing to students from general hospital nursing schools. Jacksonville's Psychiatric Nursing Affiliation Program, which was headed by the State Alienist, The Psychiatric Nursing Affiliation Program offered two-, three,- and four-month terms of classroom instruction and practical training at the hospital.

I believe the articles are sufficiently different. I also suspect that the Manteno website copied it from a state website. Racepacket (talk) 15:35, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

I have addressed your two sentences. You see that I added two more sources which I have found, and that you have checked those as well. I think this is sufficiently different to withstand any copyright infringement suit from the Manteno website, which appears to have derived from the Illinois archives website. A court would look at the order in which ideas are presented (the organization of the work) as well as the individual sentences. Every sentence and their sequence are different. Racepacket (talk) 16:40, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your consideration. You are probably wondering why should English Wikipedia see new articles on these subjects only after so many years. Although these Illinois institutions were historic pioneers in the fields of mental health and developmental disability, and did much to improve the care of hundreds of thousands of patients, there is a certain stigma attached to mental illness and people don't want to spend their time reading and writing about it. It is still an important part of society and cultural heritage. Racepacket (talk) 17:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

WikiCup Newsletter XXXIII

Hello. While looking over your edits I noticed that yesterday you found and corrected two instances where WP:Split wasn't executed properly. Adair (name) and Postal codes in Israel were the split articles for which you fixed the attribution. I'm curious - how did you learn that those articles needed attribution links? Did you randomly happen across them or is there a search that helped you locate them? If there is a search procedure to find improperly split articles then I would appreciate it if you could explain how to perform that search. That's something I would be interested in helping with. If you just happened to stumble across those articles, then kudos to you for your diligence and your attention to detail. 152.16.59.102 (talk) 22:47, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I appreciate that you made some efforts to paraphrase the text on Andrew Jackson Warner so it would no longer be a copyright infringement. Unfortunately, adding synonyms and minor alterations in the sentences won't relieve the plagiarism issue. As it is currently written, the text will need to be deleted as a copyright violation. You are welcome to rewrite the text using original language. The page on WP:Close paraphrasing can provide you with some explanations and help. In the long run, it is always better to simply write the text from scratch using your own words. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Regards. Theleftorium 20:32, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Feedback request

Hi. I know you're not currently signed on with WP:COPYCLEAN, but I consider you a pretty important part of the copyright cleanup team given your current activities. :) There is some conversation at WT:COPYCLEAN at the moment that may interest you, and particularly this thread as MLauba is discussing something that will impact the workload at WP:SCV. If you feel like it, please drop by. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:11, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Oh, and a request

You may not know that Corensearchbot is not at this point able to warn individuals if they do not already have article talk pages. If you clean an article where the contributor was not warned (I see this happened at Yokohama Country & Athletic Club), could you please explain the copyright policies to them? This is important, obviously, to keep them from doing it again, when Corensearchbot might not notice. :) I'll let this one know. This is jut a request for future. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:54, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I found another one of these (not yours) and have created a form letter for the situation. It's at User:Moonriddengirl/form_letters#Text_cleaned_at_SCV.3B_contributor_not_notified. Feel free to use it. If you copy the material from ==, the only thing you need to include is the article title. :) (Again, if you see any mistakes, please let me know!) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:15, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm about to test MLauba's template on you. :D Don't worry. It'll be swiftly removed. If it works, you can save some time and just use {{subst:User:MLauba/tcclean|ARTICLE}} and get a handy notice. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:48, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

I think that section should be shortened down (like a small summary) since it's already on the main Family Guy article. This article doesn't seem ready for GAN, though. The reception section needs to be expanded. Theleftorium 23:22, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Illinois State Archives website

Hello, Theleftorium. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 October 11.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hi, TL. For your information, I left the following message on Moonriddengirl's page to see what she says.

I saw your discussion with Theleftorium concerning text copied from from the Illinois State Archives website on those mental hospital pages. That text is a description taken directly from the Illinois Secretary of State's website (which hosts the archival info). According to their disclaimer notice here, Information presented on the Secretary of State’s web site is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. The question is whether that that simple of a notice conforms with WP. CactusWriter | needles 07:01, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Copy editing for Lisa the Vegetarian?

Hello! I was just noticing in the list of Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles Needing Copy Edit that this article is listed. You said in April 2009 that, "the article needs a copyedit before I nominate it for FA." It's now a FA (congratulations!), so do you still need the article on that list? I was doing in manually with the help of the tool. I hope you don't mind. I didn't change any of the actual content, all I did was fix a few disambiguations and links. The actual content is the same and every link goes to the same target page (i.e. the link to Superintendent Chalmers goes to the page that Superintendent Chalmers redirects to (List of recurring characters in The Simpsons#Superintendent Chalmers). I would never change what others are saying. TJ Spyke 14:12, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey. You seem to know a little bit about the copyright policy on Wikipedia so can you help me? The editor who created this page copy-pasted from List_of_Hannah_Montana_main_characters. I read somewhere that copy paste moves/splits are bad because they do not bring over the history of the text and attribute the work properly. I reported it Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/2009_October_26. Is there anything else I should do or have I dont the right thing? Is it actually a problem or am I misremembering? Thanks.--TParis00ap (talk) 19:13, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi TParis00ap! :) This is indeed a problem so thank you bringing it up. As Wikipedia:Split sets out, when material is split, we have to provide a direct link to the source article. Instructions on how to do this are located in the Hyperlink section at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia#Proper_attribution. I will fix this one for you and leave a message at the user's talk page. Hello,

I am a bit confused at your blanking of William T. Miller. The article did indeed have paraphrasing problems when first created, but I have been working with its creator for the past couple of days to fix those issues, and I believe the article is substantially improved compared to its original state. In my opinion, it no longer is a potential copyright violation, though we have still continued to improve it and bring in a much greater variety of sources. I am unsure what information you were using when you decided to blank the article, so if you could provide a specific rationale for your blanking of the article, I would be grateful.

Best, —Notyourbroom (talk) 23:20, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Notyourbroom. If you compare the third paragraph with this then you'll see what I mean. Adding synonyms and minor alterations in the sentences won't relieve the plagiarism issue. If you haven't already, take a look at Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing for some advice. Theleftorium 10:17, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

I think I fixed the concern with the third paragraph, but Notyourbroom has moved the fix to the talk subpage. Could you please review it, so that we can get this resolved? Thanks. Racepacket (talk) 03:48, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

By copying the content you rewrote into the subpage, Notyourbroom violated Wikipedia:CWW. I therefore restored your edits on the main article. And since your rewrite looks good, I have removed the template. An admin will need the delete the subpage, though. Theleftorium 16:22, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
I apologize if I violated any policies, but I was under the impression that Racepacket had not been following the instructions on the Possible Copyright Infringement template, which specifically instructed us not to edit the main page but rather to put any revisions on the subpage. I thought Racepacket had misread the instructions and was making edits improperly to the original page instead of on the special-purpose subpage sandbox prescribed by the template. All that I did was revert to your original tagged version of the article and then move the revised prose onto the subpage, which, again, I thought was required in order to follow the process of clearing up the Possible Copyright Infringement. Please let me know what I misunderstood and did incorrectly here, because I do not want to mishandle similar situations in the future. —Notyourbroom (talk) 18:08, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
In addition, I would propose modifying that template to give more explicit directions to clear up any such misunderstandings in the future (though I'm still unclear on what the misunderstanding was!). —Notyourbroom (talk) 18:10, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
You're right that the text should have been rewritten on the temp page. However, Racepacket should have moved the text there instead of you, because otherwise it will look like as if you wrote that content and not him when the temp page is moved to the actual article by an administrator. Wikipedia's licensing requires that attribution be given to the original author. Theleftorium 18:16, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Lefty. Just wondering, about two months ago, you intoned that you would try to get around to reviewing one of my GANs when you had the time - have you gotten some time to be able to do this? Sorry if it's imposing, just want to check in, as a lot of them are getting swept up in the whole backlog at GAN. Cheers, The Flash {talk} 02:05, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Article split

Thank you for the advice, for future reference. Before doing the split, I read the relevant procedure [note the tag, for example]. This talks about (a) putting a tag on it to ask an administrator to do it or (b) be bold and just do it. I didn't see the 'copied from' tag that you mention, but I know about it now. No need to reply. --Red King (talk) 11:07, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I found some very nice Fattingman photos, but I don't know if they're "bakkels" and they aren't licensed for Wikipedia use, but I could ask. [1] ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:06, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Munk is the Swedish term for "doughnut". Those images are definitely Fattigmann (I renamed the article "Fattigmann" by the way. It's more common). Theleftorium 15:25, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

I've never seen The Art of Negative Thinking actually. I'm not usually a fan of Scandinavian films, although I do love Elling (both the film and the books). You should see the prequel, Mors Elling. It's almost as good. :) (the article for that film needs to be created, btw.) Theleftorium 15:07, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
That's nothing to be ashamed of, really. I'm not sure I've even heard of it. But based on its merits, I'd say Kunsten å tenke negativt does warrant an article on enwp. And Mors Elling too :) decltype (talk) 15:32, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

"image is unnecessary"

Care to elaborate why the image is "unnecessary". I think it's kind of relevant to the article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Reinfeldts_and_Obamas.jpg Should we remove the other image as well, with FR and Bush, or is that more "necessary"? --Winterus (talk) 16:15, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Since it's a short video, shouldn't the title be in quotes ("Charlie Bit My Finger") rather than italics, throughout the article? I noticed that the Sydney Morning Herald italicizes all of the videos they covered, but per WP:MOSTITLE#Quotation marks, you probably oughtta do quotes. Such a cute video, it would be a great DYK subject (I saw that you nommed it). :) JamieS93 01:03, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Bågenholm FAC återigen

Please see Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Anna Bågenholm/archive1. Nice article but needs some more adjustment and better references IMO. Tip: Search http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed with search term "Hypothermia"[Mesh] AND ("Drowning"[Mesh] OR "Near Drowning"[Mesh]). A short review about the preclinical aspects is here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC286328/pdf/bmj32701336.pdf, and the case itself and the original article are mentioned there. A more detailed review is for example: Giesbrecht GG: Cold stress, near drowning and accidental hypothermia: a review. Aviat Space Environ Med. 2000 Jul;71(7):733-52, though that may be not freely available online. Thanks and good luck. Kosebamse (talk) 10:48, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your comments. I will do my best to address them. :) Theleftorium 12:06, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your work! I'm going offline now but will look at this again, tomorrow perhaps. I do think that the factual questions can all be adressed, but that leaves stylistic matters, such as the over-referencing, the linguistic style, which for my taste is a little bit too reality TV-like, and the quality of the references. I'm not saying the article should not be promoted once these are adressed, but these matters might need another look. Some more input from other medicine men might also be warranted, perhaps one might ask at some medical collaborations noticeboard. Sorry that I can't be more specific but I am so disengaged from Wikipedia these days that I can't give better advice. Kosebamse (talk)
Hiya. Didn't find the time earlier. It seems that the FAC has been closed, citing mostly my points - stylistic problems and quality of references. I do think that this can be helped. If you wish to give the article another attempt at FAC, why not take some time out and consider these matters more thoroughly. I can absolutely not promis that I'll find enough time for this, but please ask if help is needed. Best, Kosebamse (talk) 01:20, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll try to fix the issues that were brought up at the FAC and then give it another go. Theleftorium 10:20, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Weight Gain 4000 FAC

Thanks! — Hunter Kahn (c) 15:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Speaking of weight gain, did you tell me what Hjorte Bakkels and Futimonbuckles are? The second is just an alternate transliteration of Fattingmanm bakkels? Is it legitimate? Can we redirect. And the hjorte ones sound tasty. Can we add a bit about them (or even a section) to the main fattingman article and redirect? I know this seems trivial, but compared to the "Johnny bit my finger gag" this is Nobel worthy. ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:56, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Futimonbuckles appears to be a misspelling of Fattingmanm bakkels (see [2]) so that is probably not worth redirecting. I have no idea what Hjorte Bakkels is though, and there are no results for it on Google (except for Wikipedia mirrors). Perhaps you could ask User:Decltype, he's Norwegian. :) Theleftorium 16:31, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
The mystery of the Hjortebakkels has only grown. On the one hand I have established that they are a real thing, that they can look like this [3] and be made like this [4], and yet I'm still not entirely clear on how best to include them. They seem to be sometimes treated as a synonym or variant of smultringer, but they are not actually torus shapes. This is a very knotty problem. ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:22, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
I know one thing for sure, they seem delicious! Your addition to the Smultring article looks good to me. Theleftorium 15:07, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help. I don't think hjortebakkels are quite the same thing as a smultring. I only say this because I do not associate the foul stench of hornsalt with regular smultrings being made. And clearly, hornsalt is a required ingredient for hjortebakkels. decltype (talk) 15:27, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Actually I haven't seen horn salt mentioned as an ingredient. I think the "horn" part of the name refers to the shape, which seems to be the key difference with smultring, and can perhaps be seen as being horn shaped (two horns overlapping?). Or maybe I'm just engaging in wishful thinking. Some mysteries aren't meant to be solved. Thanks to you both for your assistance on this important puzzle! :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:13, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Bacon Materializer

Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 before the New Year even starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who enjoy some sizzle, but object to or don't like messing with pig products. This year's event also includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! The more the merrier. 2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation!

To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.

It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:

  • Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
  • Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
  • Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
  • Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
  • Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
  • Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
  • Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
  • Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
  • Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
  • In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.

If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! Hi there Henrik, quick question if you don't mind: Which are the best forums to get answers to everyday questions related to Sweden (kind of like our Reference Desks)? I know of flashback, but I found the registration process to be rather tedious. Thanks, decltype (talk) 09:31, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Webforum.nu is probably the best (after Flashback). You may find some useful links here as well. Theleftorium 16:11, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Neat, thank you. Webforum looks promising. decltype (talk) 16:20, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

DYK Questions

Since I've never done a DYK, would something like "Architectural journals poked fun at Davenport, Iowa city leaders for only spending $100,000 for the construction of the Davenport City Hall" be good? CTJF83 chat 22:19, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds good. The hook may require some copyediting though. Theleftorium 22:22, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
The article is too small though. It needs to be 1500 bytes of prose (the current version is 800 bytes). Theleftorium 22:27, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I'll see what I can add, thanks. CTJF83 chat 22:33, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
I always have a problem understanding IN-U, even after reading it a few times. Are we not suppose to write pages in a historical context? Like everything kinda happens at the same time? For List of CSI: Miami characters, shouldn't status be removed? Also, Tim Speedle, shouldn't the "was" be changed to "is" and his date of death removed? Can you try and explain IN-U to me better? CTJF83 chat 09:44, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
I think it's better if you ask this at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (writing about fiction). Theleftorium 11:31, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

New form letter

Hi. :) Based on a recent fiasco, I have a new form letter that you might find useful, here. I've created it for article talk pages. It works for contributor talk pages, too, but said recent fiasco convinces me that the article talk page is better. :) See it in action at Talk:Sea rescue (in conjunction with nothanks template to the article's creator, including (see talk) after the URL of the infringement.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:02, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! :) Theleftorium 20:01, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

FAC

Hey, for an FAC, do I strike out the comments when I fix someone's suggestion, or do they do it, after they see I've fixed it? CTJF83 chat 20:21, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

I think the reviewer should strike them. If you want to mark something as done, just use {{done}} or {{Done-t}}. Good luck with the FAC! :) Theleftorium 20:25, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! CTJF83 chat 20:33, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
No sense in starting a new section....When you source to an episode, how do you format the reference? CTJF83 chat 20:47, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Template:Polltop, maybe? Theleftorium 21:20, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
That works....also, how do I get that pink section (your edit note) to appear on my page? CTJF83 chat 21:31, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Just edit User talk:Ctjf83/Editnotice. Theleftorium 21:35, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Can you make the bottom of the table on List of Glee episodes? CTJF83 chat 03:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

I have no idea why you deleted my addition on Dan Castellaneta page. I am a resident of the community, my two sons go to Oak Park and River Forest High School, and I'd be happy to show you a picture of the Wall of Fame with his photo near Earnest Hemmingway's! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.174.10.188 (talk) 01:35, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Do you think you could do a ce of this section according to the concerns of the 2nd comment by the last commenter on the fac? You know my transitions aren't the best. CTJF83 chat 22:53, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't think a copyedit is necessary there. The opposer wants you to add more general information about the history of Davenport. Theleftorium 18:57, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok CTJF83 chat 20:41, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Zorglbot was supposed to transclude the pages, but I've never seen it actually do it. Theleftorium 14:29, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Sigh. I'll toss it in at my existing bot requests. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:31, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Citations

I respect your position on citing for my contribution to 'Crepes of Wrath.' Ideally, every entry should be cited. Nevertheless, I feel your removal was hasty and possibly even impertinent. My reasoning is thus: not every item in Wikipedia is cited, and generally items of what might be considered common knowledge are often never cited. I will (if I remember) return my contribution with a citation, but I do proffer a small objection to your removal without discussion or substantial cause. Regardless, I appreciate (honestly) your reminder that added information is best cited. Snideology (talk) 02:57, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Replied at your talk page. Theleftorium 10:22, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I have no complaints. What I had thought was a very minor affront was instead clearly aligned with Good Article policy. However, I was both unaware of such a policy, and was subsequently unaware that this article qualified. After reading the entry defining a Good Article, though, I am left confused how a person could determine if an article meets that criteria. Featured articles have the star, but outside of perusing the list of good articles, how can I tell if an article meets that definition? I apologize for taking your time in this; most of my contribs qualify as minor edits. Admittedly I find the policies for adding material so complex that I often feel daunted (despite the 'be bold' policy). TIA! Snideology (talk) 21:30, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Re:Happy New Years!

I haven't been too bad. I've been busy, but I have missed working on articles (though I have had time, it's been tough getting back into my old editing patterns). As for Flaming Moes, I had been planning on working on it next week. I am also in the WikiCup and though I won't make it as far as you, I had planned on trying to get in some token offense and making the second round before withdrawing. If you're looking for articles to work on, why not the season pages? Seasons 10-14 have books, so they should be easy enough. You could also work on season 10-12 episodes, though that may be harder because the commentaries suck and the complete guide doesn't cover them. If you're looking for FAs, why not some bios? The one on Harry Shearer is particularily close and I've always meant to whip it to FA shape but never gotten around to it. I'd like to try and get our topic drives done soon, we've been close for a while now and interest in them has waned. I'll most likely retire from working on episode pages (well, aside from maintainance, updating the new ones, etc.) once we finish seasons 2 & 3, my goal was to get all the classic season episodes to GA (or higher) and amazingly, we are very close. -- Scorpion0422 00:42, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
