Cable News Network[edit]

Hi Teal sunset! Could you please help me understand why you reverted the recent edits to Draft:Cable Value Network? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 02:11, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You moved categories to above references. I'm new here but it doesn't look right, comparing to other articles. Maybe you could ask before doing so next time.Teal sunset (talk) 07:38, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see what you mean. I've commented them out instead. Per WP:DRAFTNOCAT, we're not supposed to put article categories on our drafts. Once the draft becomes an article, you can uncomment them so they appear on the article. Note that I did ask for permission for running the bot back in 2014 - see Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/BattyBot 33. Good luck with the draft! Non-free image use[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically Draft:Cable Value Network, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:23, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was trying to undo another revision only. Sorry yours was unintentionally caught up in that. Non-free image policy understood.Teal sunset (talk) 07:42, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You can re-add the file(s) after the draft has been upgraded to article status. Since they are licensed as non-free content, you will have to make sure that their use complies with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy for them to be used. Right now, the files are orphans and do not satisfy WP:NFCC#7. This means they will unlikely be deleted per WP:F5. If that happens, do not panic. Files which are deleted are not gone forever; they are only hidden from view. Such files can easily be "undeleted" by an administrator as long as there are no outstanding problems with using them. For non-free files, this usually means showing that a valid non-free use rationale for the way you want to use the file. If it comes to this, you should either discuss it directly with the administrator who deletes the file or at WP:REFUND. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:37, 4 September 2017 (UTC); [Post edited by Marchjuly to correct silly error as explained below which changes the meaning completely. -- 13:26, 5 September 2017 (UTC)][reply]
If they're "unlikely be deleted," why the novel of a response after I said I understood?Teal sunset (talk) 13:05, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. That was a silly mistake on my part. I meant "likely". Sorry about that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:26, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Cable Value Network, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:33, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Gold Rush (disambiguation)[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your edit to the disambiguation page Gold Rush (disambiguation). However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the disambiguation dos and don'ts, you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry
    • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references

January 2022[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to assume ownership of articles, as you did at QVC, you may be blocked from editing. Behavior such as this is regarded as disruptive, and is a violation of Wikipedia policy. I have read through the sources; Q2 was clearly a cable network and had no designs on becoming a broadcast network, and your entire edit history involves QVC. Please accept proper changes to the article for readability. Nate (chatter) 20:45, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop the disruptive editing yourself. You have shown disinterest and lack of knowledge in the subject by saying "I don't understand why a TV shopping network's history is framed around CEOs nobody cares about..." when there are clearly dozens of sources framed around said CEOs. You provide no reasoning for changes other than your own opinion with "but the headings need changes" and show that you haven't read the sources with "CVN wasn't even a competitor to anyone" and make sassy comments such as "Q2 as a fifth broadcast network...nope!" that are disruptive and disrespectful of the subject matter. You deleted important information about a current event and the tragic loss of a man's life. You keep claiming that I am reverting the article but each time I have carefully added clarification and important updates from sourced content that you clearly are not paying attention to and thus you are "disrupt[ing] progress toward improving an article or building the encyclopedia."
You are a liar. My entire editing history is not in this one article or even subject matter. You constantly make disruptive edits to the article and falsely claim that I feel ownership over it, as if you know how I feel. You've edited this article over 30 times, and you're saying, that I assume ownership over it? You have added nothing of value except a line about sports broadcasts that is now obsolete. You edited the page on September 10, 2020, leaving the expanded history section intact for a time yet arbitrarily removing it this week. You claim to speak for the average reader, yet as a top 1600 Wikipedian, you are nothing but. You have a prolific posting history on sports television pages and extensive edits to ESPN and NFL pages, and yet you deride me as being "an owner." I welcome the encyclopedic and critical edits by users TVSRR, E789999, Lslong427, AndreCarrotflower, JMyrleFuller and Denim&Co. but not you sir, you are a troll. Teal sunset (talk) 23:28, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted vandalism from an IP on that date, as should properly be done. You're now warned to stop the personal attacks immediately. I restored the warehouse fire information while removing inane content about corporate changeovers outside Barry Diller's openly-public tenure that is more appropriate for the Qurate Retail Group article, rather than this article about a television network. And once again, no serious attempt at a fifth broadcast television network (again, Q2 was a cable network) would be accepted by the viewing public as a full-time shopping channel. The average reader should be thought of first when it comes to writing an article, and that's what my edits have attempted to communicate. Nate (chatter) 00:02, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop leaving personal attacks on my talk page. First you said I was disruptive and now you are saying what I contribute is inane! Teal sunset (talk) 00:39, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I did not attack you directly, just said that the content belongs on another page which I directly pointed to, and is otherwise unimportant to the QVC article. And outside three edits, your entire editing history consists of QVC and home shopping topics, suggesting there may be a conflict of interest involved with your edits, which do include several with overtly promotional content. Nate (chatter) 00:46, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
About my editing history, that's not what you said before. You are not reliable with the truth, you made disruptive posts and you delete important information, posted gratuitous comments in edit history, claimed that reporting in respected publications is false, made direct attacks against me, baited me, and made unfounded accusations against me. You are warned to stop the harrassment. Teal sunset (talk) 06:58, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
