Help me! with my status?[edit]

Can you please help me clarify my editing status? I'm not sure I'm allowed to edit pages on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, because I don't know where I stand with the new 500-edit anti-war rule. I do greatly appreciate and respect your efforts to restrain wars on these controversial sites! However, I'm an academic researcher (political science professor) specializing on the subject and do wish to contribute well-documented information to some of these pages. I have never been sanctioned, for my contributions to these pages (or any others). Many thanks!

Tafkira2 (talk) 17:37, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tafkira2, you will have to wait 30 days and have 500 edits to edit this article. There's nothing that we can do. If you really are serious about editing this article, wait until you can edit it, as it shows that you are not a vandal. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 17:42, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Platypus. How do I see how many edits I have already? Tafkira2 (talk) 17:47, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The entry on Cuzcatlan is really terrible, drawn apparently from outdated and government sites that tell little of interest to most readers and get many details wrong. Shocked by the quality I've made some quick changes to amend some of the more egregious mistakes - such as treating the mythical Atlacatl as a real person! - but the page still lacks citations and proper scholarship, providing only a list of websites. I can keep working on it, as I worked with the literature briefly at one point, but the article should be flagged as badly needing proper sources and citations by historians.Tafkira2 (talk) 13:53, 19 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Note[edit]

Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

July 2018[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

ARBPIA General prohibition[edit]

This edit violates the WP:ARBPIA3#500/30 restriction. I strongly suggest you self revert lest this be reported to the appropriaye forum.Icewhiz (talk) 19:23, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Icewhiz - since you've done me the courtesy of alerting me to my violation of the editing rules, I hand this issue over to you. My edits were made purely to correct factual mistakes in the original. I've described these in detail but they were reverted without explanation. If I cannot make them myself, I suggest that in the interest of Wikipedia's integrity as a source that you may wish to make these changes yourself. Thank you.
