Hi community -- could you kindly help me?

I have read the guidelines around biographies of living people. I think the edits I've requested on the talk page for an entry about one of my clients are ones that I may or may not be able to update myself [1]. I have disclosed my COI. I consider my talk requests independently verifiable via the footnotes provided on the talk page.

After reading the Autobiography page here [2], could you advise: Are the edits I've requested on the client's talk page clear-cut fact updates that I can do myself?

Thanks for your help in advance. Sydneyellenwade (talk) 07:48, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I'm SydneyEllenWade. I created a Wikipedia account in March 2017 in an effort to update the entry for (edit: my client) Kim Ghattas, which does not have any updated citations since 2013. I've declared my conflict of interest on the relevant Talk page here [3].

I am considering implementing the proposed edits I've made the Kim Ghattas Talk page, provided that I have declared my conflict of interest and my request to update the entry with updated information and links.

If I have failed to follow the spirit of #4 in the FAQ of Article Subjects, please kindly tell me on this Talk page. I believe I have tried to act in good faith, and if I have not, I'm happy to learn and adapt to the best practices.

I look forward to contributing more to the Wikipedia community.

Hi Sydneyellenwade. Thank you for being upfront about your conflict of interest. You should also be aware that the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use require that you specifically disclose any paid relationship with your client - the correct ways to do this are outlined at WP:PAID (the easiest solution is to just add the {{paid}} template to your userpage). With regards to the edits you propose, no, you should not make those changes yourself. Wikipedia has no deadline, and so it can on occasion take a long time for requested edits to be implemented (at the time of writing, there were 162 requests at Category:Requested edits awaiting attention). Please be patient, and your request will be reviewed in due course. In the meantime, you are more than welcome to edit other areas of Wikipedia and contribute to the encyclopedia in other ways. I have actually now addressed the requested edits myself - so you don't need to wait after all. Yunshui  15:48, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Yunshui! I've learned a lot from you -- thank you for taking the time to explain the edits you've made. I've added the paid template to my talk page, as you recommended.
I'd like to make one factual change: Kim did cover the US State Department but is not currently doing so now. The current BBC State Dept correspondent is Barbara Plett Usher[1].[2] Sydneyellenwade (talk) 22:04, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
