Help with Peer Review needed: Jayne Mansfield[edit]

Peers needed to peer review the article (here) on this peerless actor

A mid-importance article supported by WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers that was reviewed by Version 1.0 Editorial Team and selected for Version 0.7 and subsequent release versions. The article has come a long way from a fan boy mish mash to a fair enough GA. Now is the time to take it to the next level. Currently it's going through another peer review. Please, lend a hand. Aditya(talkcontribs) 06:10, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

J to tha L-O[edit]

Hey i was wondering (if you are up to it) could we work together to get J to tha L-O! The Remixes to a GA? You said its more easier to get a remix album to GA:) well...get back to me if you can.. −Arrekea(Talk) 08:29, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My weekend just started. I'd much rather get those Love? song articles up and nominated, though. — Statυs (talk) 23:50, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm okay. Help me here: User:SoapJar21/Good Hit. −SoapJar 00:41, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I will be reviewing the article, thanks. Till I Go Home (talk) 07:47, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I failed the article, but the issues are on the review page; addressing them and renominating the article seems like the good idea. Happy editing, Till I Go Home (talk) 08:58, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Hey buddy[edit]

I actually formed a task force for Latin music two years ago which can be found here, but thanks for asking. I'm looking forward to our collaboration on "No Me Ames". :) Erick (talk) 03:56, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, haha. Thanks for letting me know. Dang, it's pretty big. Do you think J.Lo should be also included there? I have a bit of time right now to start working on it. Her Spanish song articles are really lacking information. — Statυs (talk) 03:58, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it about several times, but I'm not sure. I mean, is J-Lo's music generally considered Latin music by most sources? That's the only thing that has me concerned, but I have no objections whatsoever if you feel she should be included in the Latin music task force. As for me, I'm not really into J-Lo, but I can definitely help out in the Spanish-language albums/songs especially for Spanish sources. I saw J Lo in a concert during her tour with Marc Anthony in 2007 and I have a picture somewhere of them performing "No Me Ames". I know another user who might be of help. His name is Jaespinoza and he's a good friend of mine so I can ask him out to help. Erick (talk) 04:08, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's surely noted for it's Latin influences, mostly recently "On the Floor". Her first two albums contain Latin re-recordings of English songs, and she's released a whole Latin album. I see Christina is included, and she's only done one Latin album. You should upload it! There are barely any pictures of J.Lo on Wikipedia. I may get to see her on tour this summer, so I'm gonna try to get some pics. :P — Statυs (talk) 04:15, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's enough to convince me to include her on the Latin music task force. :P I don't exactly know where I have pictures of her and Marc it's been a long time, but I will look for them tomorrow. In the meantime, one of us can start the article on a sandbox. Erick (talk) 04:26, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, and Javier told he would like to help out on the article as well. I'll use the sandbox talk page for discussions of the article. Erick (talk) 04:44, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
YOU NEED to upload that picture of JLo and Marc singing No Me Ames!!!!! Right away. XD Btw if any of you need any help with any aspect of the article, im here;-) −SoapJar 10:30, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think I've covered everything about the song, so the only thing you just have to do is finish off the lead and that's pretty much it. Erick (talk) 19:18, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, sounds good. I'll take a look. It's the weekend now, so I have some time to work on it. :) — Statυs (talk) 01:45, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Truth or Dare by Madonna.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Truth or Dare by Madonna.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.madonna.com/news/title/madonna-will-soon-be-dancing-in-her-own-shoes. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Goin' In[edit]

So i guess JLo isn't staying with L.A. Reid :'( I'm so effing confused...Goin' In is under Island Def Jam? (look at the mastering CD!...btw that makes me excited..)... But YAY. New music. AND YAY!!! #1 on Dance, #17 on Hot 100 [Cant believe how consistent it is], #4 Canada Hot 100, #9 Digital. WOOP DA is going pretty good but we will never get into that damn Billboard Hot 100 top 10 because radio is just BLAH. I mean can't they obviously see that DA is slaying sales? NOOOO they choose to play WHERE HAVE U BEEN -.-. LOL sorry i just needed to talk to u about all of this. Also, my friend on twitter @JLofan101 trended "JLo Is POWERFUL" and it actually was a worldwide TT the same time everyone kept talking about the #1 ont he Forbes most powerful. Ahhh I'm so happy. −SoapJar 12:34, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AfD[edit]

Hi. Would you like to comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hip pop? Please excuse the more recent barrage of comments there. Dan56 (talk) 03:42, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Status![edit]

Can I ask you how you came across the article Hip pop? Thanks in advance, Arcandam (talk) 03:52, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Am I not allowed to remove my own comment? No one has replied to it, right? It was a mistake, I overlooked the fact the answer to my question was 2 centimeters away. Arcandam (talk) 04:44, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe for a single second that you didn't see his comment. I am allowed to keep messages on my talk page if I ever so wish to. Once something is out there, it's out there. — Statυs (talk) 04:47, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Weird. Why don't you believe that? My browser starts at the top of every newly loaded webpage, not the bottom. What would I have to gain from asking a question I know the answer to? Arcandam (talk) 04:50, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Quite shocking, actually. Because nobody in their right mind would ask someone how they came across an article. Especially since Wikipedia has a category for AfD debates, in which it is included in. I could have come across the article all on my own, or tracked it down for commenting on AfD debates. — Statυs (talk) 04:54, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe. Aha, nah, of course I knew in advance that it was very very very likely he was canvassing, check the bottom of my talkpage. I even asked him: "Did you read WP:CANVASS?". Still he tried to canvass... strange. Arcandam (talk) 04:56, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
From the looks of it, they were all appropriate notifications. There weren't that many posts and the messages were neutral, although the audience may be questionable. I don't see much of a problem from it. The only real flaw I'm seeing is him asking editors who don't even edit anymore to comment. — Statυs (talk) 05:03, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, those are the ones who may have voted keep. The audience was not questionable, it consists of inactive users who may disagree and people he knows and likes. Arcandam (talk) 05:04, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The audience questionable in that exact sense you speak of. — Statυs (talk) 05:06, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
True, sorry, I was unclear. What I mean is that a "questionable audience" sounds like a big understatement to me. To me it is very clear he is canvassing. I've seen this type of stuff happening before many times. Arcandam (talk) 05:11, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Summer Love[edit]

The Signpost: 28 May 2012[edit]

I am considering rolling back my recent edit on it as a dispute on the 1998 re-entry of "Put a Little Holiday in Your Heart" seems debatable to me as the re-entry is actually 20 hits lower then it's 1997, it dropped from 51 to 71. So I am of course comparing it to "Sparks Fly" where it re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 but it did not peak as high as a single as it did in 2010 when it was not released but I just wanted your opinion should both entries be posted or just one? Swifty*talk 21:43, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The table is for peak positions, so obviously the greater number would go there. Look who decided not to quit after all. :) — Statυs (talk) 22:36, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2012 May newsletter[edit]

We're halfway through round 3 (or the quarter finals, if you prefer) and things are running smoothly. We're seeing very high scoring; as of the time of writing, the top 16 all have over 90 points. This has already proved to be more competative than this time last year- in 2011, 76 points secured a place, while in 2010, a massive 250 was the lowest qualifying score. People have also upped their game slightly from last round, which is to be expected as we approach the end of the competition. Leading Pool A is Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), whose points have mostly come from a large number of did you knows on marine biology. Pool B's leader, Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions), is for the first time not our highest scorer at the time of newsletter publication, but his good articles on The X-Files and Millenium keep him in second place overall. Wisconsin Miyagawa (submissions) leads Pool C, our quietest pool, with content in a variety of areas on a variety of topics. Pool D is led by Scotland Casliber (submissions), our current overall leader. Nearly half of Casliber's points come from his triple-scored Western Jackdaw, which is now a featured article.

This round has seen an unusually high number of featured lists, with nearly one in five remaining participants claiming one, and one user, New York City Muboshgu (submissions), claiming two. Miyagawa's featured list, 1936 Summer Olympics medal table, was even awarded double points. By comparison, good article reviews seem to be playing a smaller part, and featured topics portals remain two content-types still unutilised in this competition. Other than that, there isn't much to say! Things are coming along smoothly. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
