Birthdate sources[edit]

Please note that "Astrodatabank has the birth record" is not sufficient reference material to reliably cite a birthdate for any person, living or dead. Without a proper and verifiable citation, please do not change birthdates based on what would perhaps be what you saw. It has to be cited, and without that, the current date should remain. FYI: the Astrodatabank is the most reliable source of accurate birth data on the planet. Mae West was born on 1892 not 1893. Jackie Mason was born in 1928 NOT 1931 or 1936. Not looking for a pissing contest Wildhartlivie, just accuracy. Wiki should purchase a copy of the ADB (astrodatabank) it would serve to eliminate thousands of inaccurate entries and enhance Wiki's reliability.

There is nothing to discern from any published material I've seen from Astrodatabank that verifies its sourcing, which is a requisite for providing facts on Wikipedia. Wikipedia isn't in the business of purchasing databanks compiled by anyone. Meanwhile, that Astrodatabank has licensed software from Wikimedia does not mean that Wikimedia nor Wikipedia certifies information on that website. It is a wiki, that means it is a tertiary source and it offers no indication of sourcing. The statement given that Astrodatabank is "partnered" with Wikipedia is misleading in that way. Wikipedia doesn't provide sourcing, nor does it endorse the use of that site over other reliably published 3rd party sources. Wildhartlivie (talk) 02:43, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Susan Boyle[edit]

Hi!

Can you be a little more careful when editing? With this edit you changed a claim so that it no longer matched the reference supporting it, and with this edit you changed a reference itself, claiming that the reference was titled "Never Been Kissed' Singer, 48, Wows Cowell" when it is in fact titled "Never Been Kissed' Singer, 47, Wows Cowell".

I'm glad to be careful :-), When I changed the birthdate for Susan Boyle (to April 1st from the incorrect June 15 date), it was after a conversation with the registrar in Scotland who read her date of birth right from her birth certificate to me. Starfish1014 (talk) 19:50, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate edits[edit]

You have made a number of edits to birth dates which are changes from what existing citations show. You are claiming that "astrodatabank" is the source, but it does not appear to be what is considered a reliable source. Also, do you have some sort of reference to show that it is "partnered" with Wikipedia? I'm trying to understand what you are referring to.

Your birth date changes have caused a level of "back-and-forth" activity that is not in keeping with accepted practice on Wikipedia. If you wish to achieve consensus, please go to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard.

Meseritz Shul, AKA Edath Lei'Isroel Ansche Meseritz, is a 1910 Orthodox synagogue on New York city's Lower East Side. It was built by a congregation established in 1888 consisting of immigrants from Międzyrzec Podlaski (Mesritch, Poland). The synagogue is located at 415 East 6th Street. Rabbi Pesach Ackerman and Rabbi Berish Welz have served as Rabbis. (Rabbi Ackerman served since 1969, and Rabbi Berish Welz has served since 1994).[1]
