Review of California Crazy by Spyder Monkey Genre: Alternative Rock 3.7

nice voice babe the production on the song is good. i like the guitar lick at the begining of the track. it is very cool. the mix is good. this is one of those songs that, no matter what, or how it is mixed or recorded would be good. you can tell a truly great track from slop thrown together if it captures your attention, not just how well it was recorded. this song has both, it is recorded really well, and it has a great feel about i think i will listen again. very nicely done here. rock on Extra Credit: Female Vocals, Guitars, Production, Mood, Originality.

Davis Cup/Tennis Match templates

Now it works. I think that Template:TennisMatch need some changes. (Sorry I don't speak english very well.) Kedarus 09:42, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

You don't use Template:DavisCupbox? How do you plan in future, in new pages? I would like to help you with creating new pages. Kedarus 10:03, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

There are some problems, write me if you have some tips for solution:

  • If not fill results one player of match is highlight as winner.
  • When match not end normal (w/o, not played, not completed). --Kedarus 09:12, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Davis Cup

What is better? What do you plan for split pages.

  • xxx Davis Cup - yyy Zone or xxx Davis Cup yyy ZoneKedarus 07:49, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

What do you mean about this. On pages 2007 Davis Cup and 2007 Davis Cup - World Group are same part Draw. Kedarus 07:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

What do you think about rewrite Template:TennisMatch for Template:DavisCupbox ? Kedarus 06:51, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

See on Template:DavisCupbox, there are write new arguments for using this template if match not ending normal. I thing now it is used for 100% matches. Kedarus 07:03, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Le Mans races

First off I'd like to say I appreciate your work in attempting to cut up Le Mans 24h Races into the individual articles. Just a request though, if possible, if you could possibly clean up some of the ones that you paste since they contain errors or are simply written poorly. I certainly will assist in this, but the more help the better. Thanks. The359 03:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Tennis edits

Hello there. A slightly more detailed edit summary would have been helpful so that I could see exactly why you were deleting so much material. In any event, restoring some of the detail you deleted is not the only thing I did. I made some substantive changes to increase accuracy and eliminate ambiguity.

I am not in favor of deleting the great players sections, although I would be open to revising the sections so that the people and teams listed must satisfy explicit, objective criteria, like total number of Grand Slam titles won during their careers. (Some of the people listed already have statistical information beside their names.) Many established tennis editors have contributed to these lists, and I believe there needs to be a list of great or best or significant (or whatever you want to call it) tennis players to provide historical context for this sport. Best regards. Tennis expert 06:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, "In Australian doubles, both players on the same team line up on the same side of the court, with one player at the net and one in the backcourt." - A lot of excess verbiage. The serving team plays Aussie doubles, but you allow that the recieving team might. Why mention that one player is at the baseline? That states the obvious. Where else is the server going to be? "The one in back will generally move to the vacant side of the court after the point begins, which forces the opposing player to hit the ball down the line." No, but the receiver does hit down the line. "This formation also allows the player at the net to poach more easily." Right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ken2849 (talkcontribs)

First, let me thank you for coming to my talk page to berate me, and then not signing your comment. Second, I only moved that from the main tennis article; I didn't write it in the first place. I see you've fixed it up (along with lots of other individual edits), so I guess there's really nothing to discuss. Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 00:36, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Tennis Games

I saw that you posted a link on the tennis games page I created. If you have any other suggestions or would like to add any games it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have no interest in making the Tennis article a "featured article" if making the article worse is the price to be paid for that status. I regret that you are frustrated with my disagreement with some of your edits. But if I believe you are making the article worse, then you should naturally expect me to continue disagreeing. This is not personal, as I have no beef with you personally and have no agenda about disagreeing with your edits just for the sake of disagreeing. Best regards. Tennis expert 03:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I understand that we disagree, but I'd like to know exactly how. What, specifically, did you not like about my last edit? How did my edits "make the article worse"? What else in the article do you feel needs to stay the same? Is there anything in the article that you feel could be changed, or do you feel like it's perfect the way it is? What do you not like about the FA standards? These are honest questions; I want to get a sense of your feelings about the article so we can move forward constructively. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 03:21, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Davis Cup Project

Great work on the historical Davis Cups. Where are you pulling all your data from? The official site? You should make a note about what you've done/how you've done it on the WikiProject Tennis page. I'm going to create draw's for all the men's and women's French Championships from 1925 to the start of the Open Era, so I'd like to make sure my player links match up with yours. --dantheox 16:35, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the props. All the data comes from the Davis Cup site; it's got every tie that ever been played. I'll post a note on the project talk page. Mostly what I need help on is the team pages. Only a few are beyond stubs. As for player links, I've just put in names that are on the site's database, since I don't really know what the most common nickname for most of these players would have been. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 20:01, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
I was mostly interested in a list of player names, if you've got one or can easily generate it. --dantheox 06:26, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
No, I don't have anything like that. The best I can offer is the Davis Cup site's player search (although it doesn't seem to be working right now...). You can get lists of every player by country. Fed Cup has one too, although that will be of less help in the pre-open era. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 22:13, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Porsche in motorsport

Congratulations on your recent changes to Porsche in motorsport - they've greatly improved the article. -- DH85868993 03:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! It needs a little more work; it barely mentions the 956 and 962, Can-Am, maybe talks a little too much about Lake Underwood, and the prose is confusing and awkward at times. I'll watch my Victory by Design tape and see what else I can do :).--Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 03:47, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

From my understand, the Mil Milhas will remain a 1000 mile event this year even though the Le Mans Series is competing. However, a quick look at the official LMS website doesn't specifically state the race distance, so I was wondering if you had something more concrete regarding this. Anyway, thanks for creating the recent articles, they've really been needed. The359 03:29, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

To be honest, I just assumed that they would shrink it down to 1000k like the others. I see now that that assumption was wrong. My bad. On the plus side, there's been some good info added! --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 07:28, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for tidying up a couple of tennis player articles I started. I noticed them on the requested articles page and was surprised players I'd heard of like Pascale Paradis didn't have pages. I guess that dates me! I'll do a few more when I can, people like Sharon Walsh should definitely have pages. Thanks again. Nick mallory (talk) 08:01, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

What Constitutes a Stub (Tennis article question)

I noticed that in your edits to the article on Stakhovsky that I began yesterday that you replaced the bio-stub tag, which I was about to delete, with two additional stubs, european and ukrainian stubs.

Given that the article has sections on his junior career and every year as a pro for the last four years, it seems anything but a "stub" at this point.

What is it about this article that makes you feel it is still a "stub"? ShabbatSam (talk) 20:46, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey there. No, this is just a case of me not thinking while editing. I just saw the general stub tag, so I updated it. It's well beyond a stub, and actually quite a good article. My apologies. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 21:47, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Beer category decision

A discussion has been opened on changes that have been made to the existing Beer category system. The changes reverse the decision made by the Project in April 2006. The changes were based on agreement by only two people, and by a discussion that took place outside the Beer Project. There may be some merit in the changes, and to prevent future conflict it is important that there is some discussion of the matter. Regarding AL highways template

We don't really do those templates for roads in the US - see WP:USRD/P for previous such debates. --Rschen7754 (T C) 02:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

What about Template:WA Interstate, Template:WA U.S. Routes, Category:California county route templates, Category:Michigan county highway navbox templates, and Category:Washington county highway navbox templates? --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 03:02, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
The main problem with your template is that it only represents some of AL highways - not all of them. You're missing the AL state highways. However, if you were to list all of them, the template would be too big. Therefore, this template should not exist. --Rschen7754 (T C) 03:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Coordinates

Thank you for your help with adding coordinates to articles. Just one small caveat: in Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve you indicated "type:lake", which is close but not quite right. According to Template:Coord/doc, the correct type for lakes is "type:waterbody". Keep up the good work, --Stepheng3 (talk) 05:42, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Similarly, in Bear Island (South Carolina) you added "type:island". That should have been "type:isle". --Stepheng3 (talk) 06:22, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Your NRHP images

Hey, I've been working on some of the NRHP articles for Montgomery and just wanted to stop by to tell you thanks for all of your hard work and the awesome images. Your photos inspired me to get to work on Montgomery's articles. It took me quite a while to get the ones for Mobile done, though I still have about five left to do. I know from my own personal experience that it can sometimes be a pain (and sometimes a little dangerous) to get the images. My goal is to get photos for all of the properties (except any "address restricted" sites that we can't locate, much less photograph), since we have a little section at the NRHP project mainpage for fully illustrated lists. I hope to get Mobile done soon and was hoping that maybe, just maybe, you wouldn't mind getting the last few for Montgomery. Aside from the address restricted sites, it looks like all that we're lacking is images for the Brame House and North Lawrence-Monroe Street Historic District. It would be great if we could get images for the three address restricted sites too, sometimes they can be located despite the NRHP designation. I hope to keep creating the articles for Montgomery until we have articles for the entire list. That will make two very nice lists for the NRHP's in Alabama's major cities. Anyway, thanks again! Altairisfar 22:57, 14 February 2010 (UTC) (Jeff in Mobile)

Hey, another question. I hope you don't mind if I bug you about all of this NRHP stuff. Do you know when the Gay House at 230 Noble Avenue burned? Since it looked fairly recent in your photos I wrote that it occurred in 2009. Also, do you know if it is being restored or torn down? It looks like it was a really nice place before the massive damage. Any help appreciated... Thanks. Altairisfar 21:07, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Hey there. Thanks for your comments. It can be an adventure at times, can't it? I've actually got a bunch more from Cloverdale and the Garden District that I haven't uploaded yet; hopefully I'll get to that soon. The Brame House is gone, or at least it's not at its stated location anymore. I looked at the Google Earth historic imagery going back to 1992, and it's gone even then. Similar story for the North Lawrence-Monroe district; it's now a parking garage for the RSA Tower. I have some ideas where Muklassa might be based on some old maps. I haven't been able to find much on Harrington or the Jere Shine, though. I'm not sure when the Gay House burned, but it did look fresh when I was there in June. I don't know about any plans for it; pretty sure it's privately owned. The Opp Cottage is another one to look out for; it was condemned when I went by there in May, so it would be a big effort to restore, on top of being in a dicey neighborhood.
When the weather gets nicer, I'm planning on going to Wetumpka/Prattville and Selma, and I'll probably hit the Lowndes sites on my way there. I'll also get more of Huntsville whenever I'm there; there's a lot of sites in the small downtown area. Keep up the good work on the articles, and great job on the ARLH lists. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 03:57, 16 February 2010 (UTC) (Chris in The Gump)
Well that sucks that they are gone. Dang it. I came across two similar situations in Mobile. The Tschiener House burned down a long time ago and the Coley Building site is now a parking garage for the RSA Battle House Tower. Most of the NRHP project members take photos of the empty or rebuilt site if the historic structure is gone, so that's what I did in those two cases.
Cool, we need more images from those locations for sure. I recently did a few articles for Autauga, but I had to use HABS photos or, in some cases, no images (Bell House (Prattville, Alabama), Daniel Pratt Historic District, Montgomery-Janes-Whittaker House, and Mount Sinai School. I grew up near Selma, but I don't get back up that way very often. There is so much historic architecture there. I'm hoping to get back to photographing some sites in the spring also, after everything starts to green-up again. I hope to work on Baldwin County next, then maybe Monroe. I'm glad that you liked the lists, please feel free to add to them or rework them if you want too. I'll be seeing you around! Altairisfar 15:33, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Prehistoric sites in Montgomery Co.

I've done a little research of my own if you're interested:

  • Muklassa: 32°25′30″N 86°09′44″W / 32.42511°N 86.16228°W / 32.42511; -86.16228 (From the U.S. Geological Survey GNIS Database, so it looks pretty definitive.)
  • Jere Shine: According to online archaeological sources, it is a Mississippian site with 5 mounds and numerous shell middens, but it hasn't been well preserved. It is located somewhere on the Montgomery side of the river near the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers. It's #78 on a map located (here on page 39). The map seems to indicate that it may be somewhere near the Wetumpka Highway bridge, which is the first real high ground above the confluence of the rivers.

Alas, my beautiful day yesterday was spent inside at work. I'm headed out this morning so I can spend this beautiful afternoon inside watching hockey :) --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 15:03, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, the trip was kind of a bust. Muklassa is behind two gates, so I wasn't able to get anywhere close. I looked here 32°26′15″N 86°11′52″W / 32.437515°N 86.197915°W / 32.437515; -86.197915 for Jere Shine, but came across a sign that said "Trespassers Will Be Shot". I didn't try to call their bluff. I'm not sure about the Harrington location; there are lots of power line cuts along Catoma Creek, and since your link mentions a water/sewer line, it may be closer to here 32°17′33″N 86°17′27″W / 32.292556°N 86.290956°W / 32.292556; -86.290956 (there's a water works facility of some sort nearby on 331). At any rate, I did get some shots of the West Boylston Mill (ARLH) and Garrett Coliseum, and the US beat Canada, so it wasn't a completely empty day. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 03:35, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Wow, what a shame. You wanna go out in a couple of weeks and call their bluff again? I'll bring a really, really mean dog. Drmies (talk) 06:04, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
LOL. Doc, didn't you mean a really, really, really big gun? We are in Bama ya know. One shouldn't bring a dog to a gunfight... Altairisfar 19:36, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, that really sucks! But I for one really appreciate your attempts at checking them out. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Its great that you were able to get some other photos, I see that Garrett Coliseum really needs some expansion with sources and maybe an infobox with one of your nice photos (if you plan to upload them). Catch you later. Altairisfar 19:36, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 20:46, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Listing Deletion

Hi,

I have recently had some edits removed by you and I was hoping you could tell me why. I work with Fortis College (http://www.fortis.edu). Fortis has 27 U.S. locations and is under-represented in Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure Fortis was mentioned in the Educaiton section of every city page that Fortis has a campus in. I included a link to the location page, so a user could not only find out more information about the college, but the specific campus.

Can you tell me why all of my edits have been deleted?

Much appreciated,

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted in Troy, Alabama

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're a member of WikiProject Alabama. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Troy University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

I know Alabama is a big state, but if you happen to live near Troy and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from Troy who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey

Are you the one who did the map of the Baltimore Grand Prix street circuit? It's actually wrong. If you look at the Baltimore Grand Prix website, the track layout is different. Maybe you should change it, and if you do, it has to be in .svg format. B-Machine (talk) 23:10, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

The map is actually an older version that they had on the website last year. Looking at the current route on Google street view, it seems like the pitlane and the turns just before it might have to be redone. Also, I'm not aware of any requirement for files like that to be in SVG. Yes, it's nice, but grabbing the data from Open Street Map produces a file in the neighborhood of 2.5MB. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 23:50, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, then forget what I said about the file format. B-Machine (talk) 04:09, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Racing driver moves

Why have you been moving disambiguation article titles for racers to "(racing driver)"? There should be a central naming discussion to determine consensus before something major like this happens. It seems like a waste of time to me but there should be a consensus decision since there are many articles with various naming schemes. The question that I ask is: Why is "racing driver" preferable over "driver" or "racing driver" (etc.)? A mass rename like this should be discussed, probably at WP:MOTOR. I'm not saying that your scheme right or wrong. The world view needs to be considered. Also, some drivers race in multiple genres where other names are preferred, such as "rider" for motorcyclists. Several aging motocross greats are branching out into truck racing genres such as NASCAR or short-course off-road racing series (Traxxas TORC Series). Can we please discuss on a broad level this before doing any more? Royalbroil 13:24, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

First of all, I think calling this a "mass rename" is overstating things a bit; I've moved 5 articles in the last 2 weeks, and maybe a few others over my last 14,000 edits. To me "driver" is too ambiguous. It could be used for a taxi driver or a zamboni driver. "Racing driver" gets the point across without getting too specific (sports car driver, Formula 1 driver, etc.). Beyond that, "racing driver" is used on the majority of articles needing disambiguation (and nearly without exception on non-American drivers). If you're going to start a discussion about it, I will hold off on any more moves. Also, if any of the 5 I've moved are "crossovers", let me know, and I will revert myself. --Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 04:28, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

thanks for your help with my AAA racing project!! I have not been able to work much on it the past few months and to my surprise you come and help out. Hello

I saw your motorcycle map for Daytona. Could you do one for Indianapolis? B-Machine (talk) 21:18, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

On the Daytona map, all I did was change the highlighting on some sections of the map User:Will Pittenger made. You could ask him to make a new Indy map; I don't have the skills to do the new sections from scratch. Also, there is a map already at File:Indianapolis Moto GP.svg. —Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 21:34, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Lindenwood Sports Categories

I noticed you created Category:Lindenwood Lady Lions ice hockey and Category:Lindenwood Lions. Thanks so much! That's been on my short-term to-do list for the next week or so. I've been very busy this week and it was a nice relief to see those categories created and organized. Keep up the great work! Bhockey10 (talk) 05:48, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Glad I could help. I think all of the U.S. college teams should be squared away on categories now. —Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 19:17, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Help with categories

Hi there. After at first disagreeing with the changes you've made recently to the categories of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies article, I then saw how they fit the current system being used in, for example, Category:Atlantic 10 Conference teams. That led me to WP:Categorization, where I found the following excerpt:

The question arises as to whether eponymous categories should be placed in (made subcategories of) the categories which their corresponding articles belong to. Logically they usually should not (for example, France belongs to Category:European countries, but Category:France does not constitute a subset of European countries). However, by convention, many categories do contain their articles' eponymous categories as subcategories, even though they are not "true" subcategories. In any case, an article should not be excluded from any set category on the grounds that its eponymous category is made a "subcategory" of that category.
If eponymous categories are categorized separately from their articles, it will be helpful to make links between the category page containing the articles and the category page containing the eponymous categories. The template {{Related category}} can be used for this. An example of this set-up is the linked categories Category:American politicians and Category:Categories named after American politicians.

Reading that makes my brain hurt. I think it says that a category like Category:Atlantic 10 Conference teams should actually contain the articles on the teams rather than (or in addition to) the eponymous categories relating to those teams, but I'm not sure I'm reading it right, and in any event that doesn't seem to be how it's being done right now. Could you shed light on this for me? Thanks!Jbening (talk) 00:16, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

St. Bonaventure Bonnies was located in Category:Atlantic 10 Conference, not Category:Atlantic 10 Conference teams (see [1]). IMO, there is no reason it should have been there.
The convention is to only have the categories; see Category:College sports teams in the United States by conference and Category:Universities and colleges in the United States by athletic conference (only Category:Big East Conference schools does not fit this). If you'd like to add the articles to those categories, feel free, but you might want to gain consensus with WP:WikiProject College football and WP:WikiProject College Basketball first. List of colleges and universities in Alabama

Hey, what seems to be holding up your FL nomination? I looked at the discussion and couldn't figure out why it is taking so friggin long. It used to be finished (one way or another) within one or two weeks. Although it looks like you've taken care of everything very well, if there is anything I can do to help with it, let me know. Keeping college navboxes as collapsed

Just as a heads up, all American colleges' coaching navboxes are kept as "state = collapsed" via consensus between WikiProject College Basketball and WikiProject College football. It was a compromise we had with non-college sports editors who were afraid that by incorporating full names and tenures into the navboxes that they would take up too much footer space on articles. (This edit on {{Clemson Tigers basketball coach navbox}} is what prompted me to bring this up). The collapsed states also apply to soccer, lacrosse, baseball etc. navboxes as well. Thank you. Historic Birmingham Fire Station #6

Hey, really great job on all of the NRHP photos. I was surprised to see that old fire station #6 in B'ham has hardly changed a bit in 15 years. I lived in the area back then and volunteered every once and awhile at the Old Firehouse Shelter. Do you you know if it is still operating out of there? Unusual to see it without people standing around outside. Brings back some "vivid" memories. Altairisfar (talk) 04:52, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! I wish I'd been able to go up and some more. At the firehouse, there were a few guys working on the roof, so maybe they're doing some renovations. Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 02:44, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Re:Elisabeth Carpenter Satterthwait RM

In evaluating the RM on this, I think there's a couple of things to consider. First, there is nothing preventing any editor changing this title. However, even though the majority of the content is about the book, it is written as a biography, not a book article. If the the title is changed to the book title, then the article itself will need to be reworked to bring it in line with book article standards. As you haven't contributed to the article and it is relatively new, i would reccomend you engage the creator to see what the longterm intent is before moving the article. Just changing the name isn't really a long term solution. I am going to relist, to allow this type of discussion to occur.-Mike Cline (talk) 18:38, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
