Thank you for the welcome and offered help. I primarily joined to edit and basically set the record straight about a world record holder and the Wikipedia entry that falsifies the facts of the situation by claiming another has the record when it was set 3 years prior to the current listed record holder on Wikipedia's attempt any help you could give or advice on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated SofaKngJEDI (talk) 22:49, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shear'Ree moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Shear'Ree, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. I understand the reason slightly and will work on it but I am lost as to why the published newspaper article is not a reliable source. and also I added the info to other pages like progression of the bench press just to find that some one searched for every edit or anything no matter how small I've done and reversed them in a way that is malicious and intentionally makes it hard to resubmit and I would have to manually do so. not yours, I'm sure you are correct as I'm new, but the other person did it anonymously. I'm asking at this point for your help, the article is factual and did happen, i even went to the library to put the archive paper and got scans as anyone can. I may not know how to do everything correctly yet but i do know fact and truth are what wiki should be about. I hope it is at least..... please if you can any help would mean a lot. thank you. SofaKngJEDI (talk) 21:42, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. You added unofficial records sourced to instagram, which is why they were removed.
Offline sources are fine, but you also need to work on the tone. Causes Shear'Ree championed are not encyclopedic and read as promotional. As you revise this, please read WP:REFB, which will help you cite the articles you've found. Star Mississippi 23:25, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on First man to Bench Press 700 pounds requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – Popo Dameron talk 06:59, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, First man to Bench Press 700 pounds, is not suitable as written to remain published. This is a duplicate subject of the other draft you created. Please pick and improve one and do not move it to mainspace until it undergoes review. Star Mississippi 12:17, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I got a notice it was reviewed, I then made the minor suggestion from the reviewer and i moved it. The article was completely in guidelines and impartial. Had 5 cites and ref all newspapers and it was about only the event that happened. I abandoned the other and wrote a neutral article. So this deletion seems targeted SofaKngJEDI (talk) 19:17, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're actually supposed to resubmit after drafts in case there are persisting issues with the draft. (Courtesy ping for Star Mississippi). I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:10, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Deletion is not targeted and it was not reviewed. @Eejit43 just disabled the categories. If you resubmit it, please wait for an AFC reviewer as you're not quite familiar with the guidelines yet.
If you have truly abandoned Draft:Shear'Ree, please tag it with {{db-g7}} so it can be processed. Star Mississippi 01:48, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The OC register only archives online from 2002 till present or somewhere in that range. I had to physically go get a scan from the library and then was told I can't use it due to copywrite. And on top of that was told if I did anymore work on the submission i'd be banned. SofaKngJEDI (talk) 03:32, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Banned from the library? Or from Wikipedia? I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 04:20, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, just looked at the draft (and also scrolled up!), it looks like @Star Mississippi gave you an overly severe warning about editing with a conflict of interest (you can do it without being blocked, you just shouldn't), and @Drmies rightfully warned you about uploading copyrighted material to Wikipedia. However, you misunderstood their warning. If it's not online, then you can add page numbers, etc. in the citation without relying on online sourcing. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 04:26, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not advertising or whatever, I just have tried to put up one thing and I've been constantly crapped on about it. This one topic for some reason I did at one point have page numbers and a scan but was deleted. Ive asked for help, redone it 3 times and get a ban threat for adding 1 sentence with a proper web link? SofaKngJEDI (talk) 04:32, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are not, in fact, writing neutrally and sourcing the draft properly, whether or not you acknowledge it. You've been told this by multiple people; three to five, including myself, in fact. You're the only person in common between us all.
So, instead of telling me how you're being "crapped on," here's how to spend your time instead: add the page numbers if they aren't online. You don't need to use the scan, nor should you. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 04:41, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow thanks for the kind help there mentor SofaKngJEDI (talk) 04:44, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to lie to you and say that you aren't mostly responsible for the situation you're in, but I think that's what you want to hear. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 04:56, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
no I just wanted some actual help without people being mean spirited or some reason trigger by a simple submission which pierced can't be done without malice so thank you no worries SofaKngJEDI (talk) 05:15, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I need to read up on what's going on here, SofaKngJEDI, but I'm going to tell you already that your comments are way out of line, and below this section I am going to drop a warning for your harassing language. Drmies (talk) 14:53, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SofaKngJEDI Almost all of us literally trying to help you, not being malicious or mean-spirited. Not assuming so actually violates behavioral policies. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 05:44, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@I dream of horses check their deleted contributions. They are here only to promote this person and their weight lifting record including page moves and other shenanigans. I don't think it was overly severe, but glad you're helping the editor. I do think they might be more neutral if they edit about a topic to which they're unconnected. Star Mississippi 12:10, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Star Mississippi For context, I'm not an admin, and wouldn't be able to check deleted contributions. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 00:30, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see that @SofaKngJEDI is committed to improving their edits, for which I'm grateful, so I won't belabor it. If you could see them I think you'd have been less likely to deem my warning overly severe. It's possible that as @Drmies said that we should want an article on this subject, but it wasn't clear from their initial months of edits that Jedi was going to be able to write it, which is why I advise on writing something you're unconnected with. Star Mississippi 00:52, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, the draft/article was not written in an encyclopedic style. In fact, it does not look like an encyclopedic article at all, and it certainly does not follow our guidelines. If you had looked at how articles here are written you would know that.

Second, the sourcing: you had 1. "the O.C. Register newspaper"; 2. "4WD magazine"; 3. "The Kiowa Review and Record"; 4. Snyder, Hal (November 16, 1982). "Shear'Ree lifts a record weight off his chest". OC Register. pp. D1, D6." The first three are names of newspapers and magazines, I think, and as citations they are woefully incomplete. The fourth is complete, but unfortunately I cannot find that article in the OC Register's archive. And yes, uploading a scan of copyrighted material is a copyright violation. Either way, you would have, at best, one acceptable citation, but from a local newspaper, for a draft in which half of the text is promotional--"multiple titles and accolades", "respected coach", "championed many humanitarian causes"--and the claim one of the greatest powerlifters of all time", which would need some SERIOUS sourcing. That's fine, but if, on top of that, you start yelling at the people who tell you how the writing of encyclopedic articles is to be done, then we are approaching WP:NOTHERE territory. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 15:06, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Examples and giving more info on exactly how I was not going about this was all I was asking for. Thank you Drmies for that. if this comment is "harassment" doesn't matter because I think I'm just done. I wanted to learn and write about something I thought was interesting and didn't understand why the hostile or dismissive attitudes that I received especially when the first interaction was so welcoming kind. Sorry to waste all of your time, was not my intention. SofaKngJEDI (talk) 15:33, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, here's the thing: we want (or, we should want) that article on Shear'ree. But we can't properly judge whether it's notable until we see the sources, one way or another. So, if you're up to it, here's what you can do: gather all those sources and document them--write down the full bibliographical information, etc. Don't upload them onto Wikipedia, don't put a link on Wikipedia if the website is committing a copyvio. But get all those sources, fully documented, as many as you can, from reliable sources. The OC Register is fine, but we'd need to see more than just one, you know? When you have that, then we can be in business and I'll be happy to help you write it up. OK? Take care, Drmies (talk) 18:54, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I'm honestly very thankful for this message and I really mean that. I will get working on it. I know you have better things to do than hold my hand so I can only say thank you I will do my best to listen and learn SofaKngJEDI (talk) 19:22, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, no worries--take your time, find the sources, and we'll talk again. Drmies (talk) 00:57, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Do I submit for review or wait for input first? Hope it improved a bit SofaKngJEDI (talk) 01:51, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I beleive the tasks you suggested have been completed, If you have any other suggestions or ive not done the formating correctly please let me know and again thank you for your help, All of you guys even when i was confused. @Bonadea @I dream of horses @Drmies @Star Mississippi SofaKngJEDI (talk) 21:51, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like there are currently 11 sources that lack a title. The title should be the actual title of the newspaper article, not the title of the publication, which belongs in the "newspaper=" field. Some of the references in the draft have it right – have a look at references 1 and 2, for instance, to see what I mean. --bonadea contributions talk 20:45, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, will get on it. Thank you SofaKngJEDI (talk) 23:29, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I removed 1 reference and implemented the changes to the others, if you have time and im not being too much of a bother as i know you have other things to do. thanks again @Bonadea SofaKngJEDI (talk) 18:54, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
