Question from Dennis.insect.filmer (02:59, 5 December 2023)

Hi Seri,

Thanks for being my mentor.

I added this video to the page geometer moth. I want the still frame to be the first frame. Thumbtime=0 does not accomplish it. Can you help? Thanks Dennis.insect.filmer (talk) 02:59, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Dennis.insect.filmer: - I'll be honest, this isn't an area I have much expertise in. Could you try, for example, 0.01 to see if it works? Apologies that I can't be of more assistance here. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 17:53, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
Seri, I discovered using <gallery> made them ignored. I droped the gallery and added the attribute center instead. Perfect. Dennis.insect.filmer (talk) 23:29, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

RfA

Hi ser! I'm currently on the lookout for users who could make good use of the administrator toolkit. I noticed you've steadily been working away on Wikipedia making valuable contributions, and are semi-regularly requesting admin actions (particularly page protection and sock blocks‎). I wondered if you might have any interest in having access to the extra buttons. I think you could be a good uncontroversial RfA candidate from an initial look. What do you think? Sam Walton (talk) 23:29, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Samwalton9:, thanks for the message! I will say it would definitely come in handy to be able to protect pages and block socks as a great deal of my Wiki work is involved in that, as well as anti-vandalism work. With a vote of confidence from an admin in good standing like yourself, I certainly would consider running! ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 09:08, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
@Ser! Great to hear :) In the past I've set up a user subpage to discuss and prep, I'll start that so we can discuss further if you're happy to move forward? Sam Walton (talk) 10:10, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Sounds good! ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:18, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Talk Radio More (04:19, 23 December 2023)

Hello Mentor, I made eight edits to the Hammond Organ page and none of them show up later. My account still says I made eight edits and has their names. I'm new to this editing wikipedia, what can you tell me about this? Thanks! P.S. I worked on Hammonds and Leslies for about ten years, went through factory schooling, got certified, etc. --Talk Radio More (talk) 04:19, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Talk Radio More:, welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for your edits! Looking at that page, I believe your edits were reverted because they did not have a source backing them up. On Wikipedia, you need a reliable source to ensure that any content added is verifiable. I also note that the Hammond organ article is listed as a Good article - this means there are more stringent requirements on what the article includes and does not include - see WP:WIAGA for this. Again, warm welcome to Wikipedia and I very much look forward to seeing your edits in future - it's always good to have new faces around with expertise in topics like this! ser! Question from Talk Radio More (02:38, 28 December 2023)

Hello, how and when will I know I am auto-confirmed? --Talk Radio More (talk) 02:38, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi Talk Radio More, once you reach 10 edits and your account is over 4 days old, you will reach autoconfirmed status. See WP:AUTOC for more info on this. — ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:53, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Talk Radio More (02:41, 28 December 2023)

Is there a way to refute, or present an alternative view of, the slant of a wikipedia article? Some of the refutation will be documented but the rest would be commentary of a general logical nature. Thanks. --Talk Radio More (talk) 02:41, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Talk Radio More, I believe you would be able to include differing views on a subject, but they would have to be given due balance and weight per WP:DUE and attributed to relevant experts in whatever field. But it would probably depend on what article you're editing. — ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 10:54, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Colin hollis (12:47, 29 December 2023)

Hello I am requesting that the line in my entry that says ïn 1990 Hollis was convicted of exposing himself to a plain cloths policeman in a public toilet. He was placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond".This was 30 years ago. I pleaded Not Guilty. It was a Police entratement which is now illegal. By it being there, I am being punished, I served my 12 month good behaviour bond, I have no police record, This activity by Victorian Police is no longer permitted so I am requesting that the line be dropped, If this is not accepted It should be added Hollis pleaded not guilty --Colin hollis (talk) 12:47, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Colin hollis:, you might be as well raising this on the talk page for your article (Talk:Colin Hollis), but be aware that in general it's not common for sourced content to be removed at the subject of the page's request. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 16:26, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
