No, i'm australian with Lithuanian heritage though. I can read basic Lithuanian, that's about it. Just used an online translator to show appreciation for your quip. Jameson Raid (band) Afd or Speedy? The Real Libs-speak politely 18:08, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

That would be an AfD. But might be dodgy with the EMI blue link close to the bottom... it would need sourcing though. The article smells like COI/fan-boy/crap, to be honest. I would support an AfD. ScarianCall me Pat! 18:12, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
My afd box showed up with a red link. I hate it when that happen. I used TW which normally gets everything in there without error. I smelled copy//paste when I first read the page. Vut Googling some key text showed nothing... unless it was copied from a written word source. The Real Libs-speak politely 18:34, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

ACMA

Normally I wouldn't have a problem with having a link (such as that) however when you have people using Wikipedia to prove a point in having the ACMA article or the whole of the Wiki project blocked[1]. Another thing is having an editor who wants the link in the article yet they made a complaint to ACMA about the link[2]. In Wikipedia/Projects's best interest the link shouldn't be added (for now) since Wikipedia shouldn't be dragged into the internet filtering issue. Bidgee (talk) 20:59, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Bidgee, I don't want to get involved in the discussion about the link as I couldn't keep a neutral look on things. I don't like the link. I'm not talking about it's encyclopaedic value (I don't have an opinion on that); I mean, I hate those pictures and I never want to see them again. So I can't get involved. I do hope you understand, friend :-) ScarianCall me Pat!
I'm still trying to understand why the link was re-added[3] when it's stated publicly that activists are using the link to bait Wikipedia for there own political purposes. I've given a more deeper detail to why it should be added (I could write all evening on it but kept it nice and and simple). at the Australian noticeboard. I'm not having ago at you as I see you as a valuable Admin and editor but I'm just frustrated. I hope you can understand. Bidgee (talk) 06:32, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey Bidgee - do you think dropping a line to the foundation (and perhaps even the Australian foundation) would help to bring this to the eyes of others and thereby open the debate? I say this because my view (as you know from the detail at my talk page - now archived) is that the link should stay out until it is discussed adequately. I did take those steps for the sake of the project but an editor came to my talk page to complain - despite Scarian's assistance. I'd be happy to follow you up with further comments at whatever place you make them.--VS talk 23:20, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Further to the above - I have now taken some steps to inform three appropriate members of the Foundations Australian chapter.--VS talk 23:31, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Finally - just to keep it all in one place - I have also informed the foundation.--VS talk 00:52, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Linking images to different projects

Is it possible to link to an image from an another Wikipedia?
Like linking an image on the English Wikipedia to an article on the Hindi or French Wikipedia?
--Rsrikanth05 (talk) 16:37, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi Rsrikanth, I think it's possible if the image is on WP:COMMONS (But I think it has to be completely free to be on there). You can bring the image over from the English Wikipedia to whatever Wiki you wish if you remember to reference the original uploader/creator etc. I don't know a huge amount about images but I'm sure if you click around on WP:IMAGE, you might find something of use. Sorry I can't help any more than that, but thanks for your message :-) ScarianCall me Pat! 17:03, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Absolutely. Also, CommonsHelper can help you move things from Wikipedia to Commons if they're freely licensed... it makes some of the rote steps easier. ... see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons for more guidance. ++Lar: t/c 18:59, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Buttermilk1950

Hi... regarding your block of said user, which you notified them of at User_talk:Buttermilk1950#March_2009, could you elaborate on exactly which edits you think were the edit warring ones? You'll note that right above, at User_talk:Buttermilk1950#3RR_warning I had warned the user about edits in that article, and they said they would keep it in mind, and it seemed to me that the subsequent edits were more constructive and collaborative. I've been trying to work with this user since I first noticed them. You can reply here, or (better) on the user page itself. Thanks. ++Lar: t/c 17:46, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

(Refactored from User_talk:Lar per my policy) Hi Lar, as you noted on Buttermilk's talkpage, he had made 4 reverts. Even if he had not executed a fourth, I would have still blocked for edit warring. I think he is unblocked now, which would make the issue of unblocking moot. But if you think I have made an error I will gladly apologise to the said user. Your message puts doubt in my mind of whether I made a good decision. ScarianCall me Pat! 18:07, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, I was of two minds myself, and considered seeking a block (I was involved so it would not have been appropriate to block myself), but in the end decided to go with a softer approach. The block was certainly technically justified, that's not the issue, it's just that it sort of undercut my approach a bit. No big worry though. The block's over now, so hopefully no lasting harm done, the user is back to editing. Perhaps just a short note on the user's talk page from you might be good? I leave it to your discretion. Best. ++Lar: t/c 18:56, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh yeah, sorry about that Lar; I forgot you had written that you were working with the user. My apologies. I shall leave a note on the aforementioned user's talk page. Thanks for your note. ScarianCall me Pat! 19:00, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I suspect someone will come to you shortly to have me banned. I am "turning myself in" to make it easier on you. I'm not sure what I've done wrong but ... anyway, it's all about my Rodeo in the United States article that was just put up for deletion. I made some comments on the AfD page that I probably shouldn't have made. I enjoyed being at WP and I met some great people but I can't work here. Thank you for your patience! Buttermilk1950 (talk) 01:07, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

It's about the Rodeo in the United States article. Montanabw has put it up for deletion. I made some comments of the AfD page that I think will irk others. I wasn't thinking when I wrote. I don't know why she's on my case. I am trying to work out the POV stuff but I guess I'm not working fast enough or something. She seems to be very confrontational with others. I always feel pistol-whipped after she drops in. Buttermilk1950 (talk) 01:18, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

The Barnstar of Integrity
Most admins on Wikipedia lack a 'good pair' when it comes to defending the Wik. WP doesn't have a barnstar to reflect admins who go above and beyond to protect the project from becoming anything less than a trusted resource IE 'the balls to do what is right'.... but the scales of justice that appear on this barnstar can be a stand-in for abundant 'pair' that you possess and use on a daily basis to make Wikipedia a better place. The Real Libs-speak politely 13:01, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
  • Nice well deserved barnstar - but to assist in validity do you have any third party sources on "abundant" ... but no photo's please! Cheers Pat my friend.--VS talk 00:19, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

The Real Libs-speak politely 18:36, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

You speedy deleted this article about a year ago as Wikipedia:CSD#A7, but it has recently been recreated following a deletion discussion about one of the band's albums, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bass Player, in which sufficient notability was established for the album that the AFD was withdrawn. I believe that the original article, which was much more detailed than the current stub, also claimed sufficient notability for the band, although it lacked reliable sources.

With your permission, I will restore the previous version and merge content from the current stub. If you still consider that the band is non-notable, I may raise the matter at WP:DRV.-gadfium 22:16, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey as the above article I'm having trouble with genre warring IP's. I got the article to GA so I take responsibility for the sourcing. I used a newspaper in the article body, which describes the song as funk. I recently noticed that I hadn't added this to the infobox. So the moment I added it to the infobox several ip's descended upon this obscure article, removing funk from the infobox. Because they can't read the source they don't believe it which is irrelevant, we don't have a ban on off line sources. The newspaper is reliable. Could you take a look? Help monitor this? Cheers. — R2 18:33, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Scarian, the IP is now causing a load of drama over genres on other MJ articles. I find this post very objectionable and a blatant personal attack against another good faith editor. I have been fairly open to discussion in the past about my actions, but it is about time you explained some of yours. What did you find particulary wrong about the article? Was it horrible enough to delete the bulk of it without reviewing what mattered most? I thought we had come to terms with this. --Jake Z. (talk) 18:18, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

This account smells of sockpuppet...

But who???? Old account... familiar with permanently banned Leyasu... I am thinking it mught be this perma-banned d**k.... but who knows? Thoughts? The Real Libs-speak politely 14:35, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Also... BBHS??? Seemed pretty knowledgeable for a new account back in Jan.... lots of music edits... maybe... Thoughts? The Real Libs-speak politely 14:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Don't know about the first guy but pretty sure Suede isn't BBHS; he likes Snow Patrol too much :-D What's the background on the first guy? ScarianCall me Pat! 16:17, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Sumthin just looks snakey. Deathrocker (Daddykindsoul) and Leyasu were known enemies (pure hatred between the 2) and this dormant account appears out of nowhere after a long sleep... and it has a "lets get Leyasu" previous agenda. The Real Libs-speak politely 17:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Maybe you should investigate more before casting spurios allegations around. I gave up working on wikipedia for two reasons: one was Leyasu, the other was Deathrocker/Daddykindsoul. Come on, take a guess as to which of those two arseholes did the reversion that caused me to give up on wikipedia. I hated the way they treated articles as if they own them. I thought maybe wikipedia has improved by now and so I've been slowly trying to get back but I guess nothing has changed. Some people still have ownership issues. --Anarchodin (talk) 18:00, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Please be careful on the way you call people (such as call them D*ckheads and arseholes) since it can be classed as uncivil. I do agree with your reverts on the Ritchie Blackmore article which I have since reverted Wiki libs revert and have placed a note on the users talk page. Bidgee (talk) 18:24, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I didn't called anyone a d*ckhead. I used the word a-hole and that was for two notoriously problematic editors that have been blocked for good from wikipedia. Thanks for your support on the Ritchie Blackmore page but if I could have predicted that my edit there would result in someone accusing me of being a sockpuppet of the editor that led me to give up on wikipedia a few years ago, I would not have bothered. --Anarchodin (talk) 18:41, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I've striked out part of my comment above and added what you said. Was 4am local time so I slightly misread and apologise for that. Bidgee (talk) 03:25, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Wadya think

The article for Jean-Pierre Danel is TOTAL peacock... and the entire refs section is in french. I thought EN_Wiki req'd EN verifiability? I also believe that the editor of this page is either Monsieur Danel himself (or his manager... or his Mum). Its fluff city... to me anyways. Wadya Think? UK based IPs... there have been similar pov edits from other UK IPs.... do you know any UK based sockpuppeteers?

this UK based IP seems very familiar.. but can't clear enough cobwebs from my memory. Very Johan Rachmaninoff-ish though... not sure if he was UK based... but something tlls me he wasn't an NA dweller. The Real Libs-speak politely 17:54, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

It's a sock farm

I'm going to get brought to ArbCom by a sock farm! See this. I have reason to believe more IPs are involved. Enigmamsg 19:20, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

re: My earlier response to you on my talk page...

Check this out 92.X has yet another range to access Wikipedia through. I count 16 pages that need an rv and prot. What is the procedure here with this type of IP habit... range block all of Russia? The Real Libs-speak politely 19:03, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
