You broke a lot with this edit, so I have reverted it. What were you trying to do? Perhaps I can help? In general, it's good to test these edits: find a few species taxoboxes that use the template you edit, and make sure they still look right when you are done. Thanks! Oops sorry. I was just trying to expand on the taxonomy thing.Sauropodomorph (talk) 16:08, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok; if you'd like to give me more details about what you're trying to do, I can try to explain how to do it. ie, are you trying to get a taxon to show up on a particular taxobox? ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 16:50, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am trying to get the taxa to show up. There's a massive gap between "Tetrapoda" and "Eumaniraptora" in there, where a whole load of taxa got skipped. I tried to complete the taxobox.Sauropodomorph (talk) 10:12, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to get the taxa to show up"which taxon would you like to see where? Ie., which article's taxobox? The gap that you note is deliberate and due to a technical limitation: apparently there is a limit to how "deep" templates can recursively include each other. I'm not sure what the details are, but if Taxonomy/Haliaeetus leucocephalus included all the templates all the way up to Taxonomy/Life, it wouldn't work. So we have these skip templates. If we had an article Eumaniraptora, then it wouldn't use that skip template, it would use template:Taxonomy/Eumaniraptora, which has the detail that is missing from the gap. If this craziness is causing a taxon to be missing from a taxobox, then please let me know and I should be able to fix it. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:06, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I did not know that there was such a technical limitation. Well, I was just trying to fill the gaps, but thanks for telling me why that can't be done.Sauropodomorph (talk) 17:32, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's a drag. If there are any gaps at template:Taxonomy/Eumaniraptora it might work to add them. Or the important thing is: if there is a taxobox with a missing immediate parent, let's fix that. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 16:38, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
