AG Edits[edit]
Hi, SD. I went to the Ravnsborg article to see what I might be able to help with but wound up doing a lot of edits to delete redundancies and trivialities, reformat the article, correct misspellings, etc. I got sidetracked to work on two related to each other, high visibility articles that need work. I'm going to get back to it to see if I can address your edits and see if I can assist. I've been to every state except Vermont, though a couple of my best friends have been living there. I just talked with one yesterday but he's possibly leaving and the other has sold her house and is moving back to Massachusetts. Both, who only met each other once, long ago, had expressed precisely the same problems each had experienced. I am guessing that I might be agreeing with you. The article was drowning in filler and light on substance, I felt, so your edits should have probably been welcomed since they dealt with actual policy. I'm on the Wiki state projects for a half dozen different states, but regarding some of those, I know little to nothing about the A.G.s Activist (talk) 11:37, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
- I noticed that in your correspondence with "Nat" that you hadn't gone to a new paragraph, but added your text immediately following his(?) response to you. It's easier and clearer if you simply hit enter then use a colon to indent. For the second response, it would be two colons, etc. I went to one of the AG articles where I've posted, Derek Schmidt's, and updated it by expanding on the nature of the three cases (one of those three was a combination of three different individuals with federalism cases) granted cert, the other two being death penalty cases. I'll take a look now at the edits that you were concerned about to leave you some feedback and possibly add to them. I had removed some of the "fruit salad" military awards in the Ravnsborg article, as they seemed less important than those I'd left (I wasn't sure of the importance of the two joint force awards, but perhaps they should go as well). The CIB and bronze star awards are considered very important. I think that there are editors, paid{?} or voluntary, that inflate the service record of biographical article subjects of by adding endless ribbons. Somehow the editor either missed a "Good Conduct" award that most GI's get, or perhaps he didn't get one. A huge amount of the Ravnsborg article was prima facie redundant so I wondered if it hadn't been left just to make the article look more impressive than it actually deserves. I don't know why he fought the $5 million appropriation for expanding broadband. Such expansions ameliorate a common lack of parity in rural or impecunious areas which are particularly salient in S.D. I should note that many invitations to states to participate in class actions are sent to the complete list of 56 A.G.s or equivalents (i.e., in D.C.) to see if they want to sign on. I suspect that few might submit amicus briefs, so their case participation is essentially token though cumulative, perhaps. Schmidt is the president of NAAG so I assume he would sign on to all and any with which he might not have a problem. The reversal of position on DACA, I think, by the TN AG, was extremely unusual, I believe. I appreciate your enthusiasm that you've given to the task of improving and expanding Wikipedia. - I just reread what I'd written. On second thought, the Bronze Star might also be eliminated. The "important" version is the one with a "V" for "valor." The one lacking the "V" was diluted in importance around the time of the U.S. invasion of Grenada where they were given out like Crackerjack prizes, awarded for "service." This continued in the brief war with Iraq over Kuwait, where they became "participation trophies," it seemed. Activist (talk) 20:12, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
