So how would I ever be able to edit this then so others know that it does in fact grow here in Northern Wisconsin? I took a photo because I have never seen it before. And this is what it is 100%> Rschubert9807 (talk) 01:46, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

What you have run into is that editing Wikipedia is somewhat more complex than it first appears. It is not enough to know a fact personally you have to WP:proveit. Also, editing plants can be somewhat more complex than average because as a scientific subject there is all sorts of complexity in understanding subjects like Synonym (taxonomy) in addition to learning how to correctly cite books, databases, etc.

In the case of Spinulum annotinum you could actually look at the references on the page. The link to the USDA PLANTS page actually shows they know that Wisconsin is part of the plant's range under the name Lycopodium annotinum. The information is available, you just need to figure out how to phrase it.

To get yourself a new citation to the World Ferns database which uses the correct name and also lists everywhere they know it to be native. It will produce a reference like the one that will appear under this comment. So decide if you want to learn what you need to understand to correctly edit facts into pages, if you want to just do grammar or spelling edits, or if editing is not for you.
