Season articles

Our main guidance for creating season information comes in the form of WP:TVUPCOMING and WP:TVOVERVIEW. We don't create a section in the LoE page until a sourced episode table can be created and we don't create a row in the series overview table until a section for the upcoming season has been created. From this it should be obvious that we wouldn't create an entire season article until such time as a sourced episode table can be created, although it is acceptable if substantial sourced information can be included in a season article for that season. Such information might include production or casting information specific to the season. Of course, none of the content should be based on assumptions. The first problem with Modern Family (season 10) is that all you really have is a date for the premiere, and that isn't enough to justify creation. If all we have is the renewal information and a premiere date, that is normally just added to the lead of the LoE page. The cast information that you have sourced from other seasons doesn't constitute "significant" information because it's not specifically about the new season. That being the case, the article should not exist at this time. Please remember, Wikipedia is not working to a deadline so articles don't, and shouldn't, be created months in advance just because you can. This issue has been addressed at length by the TV project over the years, including relatively recently. Hi Robloxian56. I'm not sure why you did so, but there was really no reason for you to license this file at {{Non-free logo}} since it's (1) too simple for copyright protection in the US per c:COM:TOO United States and (2) it's a vector version of File:Wal-Mart logo.png, which is licensed as {{PD-textlogo}}. The only possible reason why you might claim this as being protected by copyright would have to do with whether your claiming copyright over the code you used for the vector version as explained in c:COM:SVG#Copyright. However, in that case, there's no way that a non-free svg file would be allowed as explained in WP:FREER because (1) someone could do essentially the same thing and release theirs under a free license and (2) the PD-licensed png file is a perfectly acceptable free equivalent to any non-free file. Anyway, I've converted your svg version to PD because that's the only way that the file can possibly be kept. For future reference, if you convert any more Commons PD logo files to vector versions, you can just upload them directly to Commons under the same license as the other file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:39, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm just curious as to why you uploaded this file as {{non-free logo}} instead of {{PD-logo}} since it doesn't seem to be eligible for copyright protection per c:COM:TOO United States. If the only reason you did this was because the svg code for the file might possibly be eligible for its own copyright (see WP:FREER and c:COM:SVG#Copyright for some more on this) and you're not the creator of the svg version, then Wikipedia cannot keep it as non-free because someone could find do the same and essentially create their own svg version and release the file under a free license or possibly find a png version or an official svg version and use that instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:57, 20 December 2019 (UTC)

SVG images

Because SVG images are hi-resolution, they should not be used to replace non-free images as this violates WP:NFCC#3b, which requires that we use low-resolution images. --AussieLegend (✉) 04:11, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
