Capitalization of food names[edit]

Please don't capitalize names of foods. This requires a lot of cleanup. The only exceptions are certain German-origin foods (because in German many nouns are capitalized that aren't capitalized in English) and any words in a food name that are a proper noun in their own right, as in oysters Rockefeller or chicken Kiev. Thanks for your attention to this in the future. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 16:25, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

March 6[edit]

Hello I’m Freddie Cas, please next time make your researches very well before including anything on Wikipedia, you added Chinedu to the article Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, I removed it because is false and please next time when adding anything on Wikipedia do provide a source to avoid confusion. For example, sources are now carrying and publishing on the name Chinedu because you added it on Wikipedia. Freddie Cas (talk) 23:00, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Researcher of greatness here. His middle name is Chinedu. He confirmed it himself in a club house interview and he contested for a political seat previously as "Chinedu Gbadegbo Rhodes Vivour". This is common knowledge. No, he was well known to also have the name Chinedu and it was spreading on social media before my Wikipedia edit.
I don't understand why you are against the fact that Chinedu is one of his names? As well as Patrick by the way, Which is written as the first name in his University certificate. Are you also denying that. I just edited the truth, but I'm tired of this back and forth, for now. Researcherofgreatness (talk) 14:30, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Yoruba women's clothing[edit]

Hello, Researcherofgreatness,

Thank you for creating Yoruba women's clothing.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for creating Yoruba women's clothing; the topic is clearly important. I've placed a few maintenance tags on the page, because at the moment it isn't structured like a Wikipedia article should be. Please take a look at Inuit clothing, a featured article on a similar topic; that is the sort of structure you should be aiming for. It would also be very helpful if you can explain the non-English terms you use, but please remember these need to be supported by reliable sources. Happy editing,

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Vanamonde93}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Okay I will add more citations when I'm less busy if you want 😃. I only write on accurate history which you have a complex about. You will still get triggered and change it no matter how many citations I had. The facts remain facts, and the information is written in books and all over the Internet which is what matters. No body takes Wikipedia as a source anyways, so you can keep at it. The power of the truth is not in your hand and will never be. Researcherofgreatness (talk) 17:46, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

South West (Nigeria) page[edit]

Could you explain this edit on the South West (Nigeria) page? Thank you, Watercheetah99 (talk) 18:43, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. South West Nigeria is a geopolitical zone and region that refers to part of the Region that is Yorubaland in Nigeria. This refers to 6 states, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun. Kwara and parts of Kogi are Yoruba regions and part of Yorubaland in Nigeria but aren't generally groupedas south west due to location. The native language spoken in South West Nigeria is Yoruba, there are some migrants who can speak their own languages at home but those arent languages for the south west. Ewe and Gun also aren't any kind of Nigerian language.

Researcherofgreatness (talk) 16:28, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, Ewe and Gun are both indigenous languages of the South-West (mainly spoken around the Badagry area); additionally, Itsekiri and Izon are spoken in parts of Ondo State — all four of those languages have thus been readded. Secondly, that section is *not* just for languages native to the South-West, it is for major languages *spoken* in the South-West — thus Hausa and Igbo have also been returned (no one can claim these languages are not major in the SW). In the future, please explain edits in the edit summary space and research prior to making mass deletion edits. Watercheetah99 (talk) 00:41, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are wrong about Ewe andwhich are not indigenous to the south west Nigeria or any part of Nigeria, Yes Egun is spoken in parts of the Badagry area, thats about it. Adding non native languages conflates random things. Pls go do your research again if you think Ewe is spoken in South west Nigeria. If yiu mean some immigrants you might as well add wolof and french. 102.88.81.86 (talk) 16:42, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, non-native languages does not "conflate" anything, do you want me to remove English because it isn't native? No, of course not. Major languages is used in every page for all 6 geopolitical zones, using only native languages would be misleading, unhelpful, and play into ethnic/linguistic jingoism. Secondly, I appreciate you conceding that Gun is common in the Badagry area but you have missed that there is an indigenous Ewe community there as well — to be fair, your confusion may come from the fact that the community is sometimes labeled "Fon" but it is certainly present. One thing you could argue is "the indigenous Ewe community isn't large enough for their language to be major," which would be a fair point but as you noted, there is a large Ewe-speaking immigrant community so Ewe overall (Nigerians and immigrants combined) likely is a major language. Additionally, I don't think there is a large enough Wolof-speaking community in the South West, but you made a good point about Francophones so I will add French to the language list. Lastly, your most recent edits is false; there is no governing entity of the South West, thus there cannot be an "official language" of the South West. Further edits in an attempt to elevate Yoruba over other languages or sourcelessly remove non-Yoruba languages will be reverted and considered as evidence that you are not here to build an encyclopedia. Watercheetah99 (talk) 00:23, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
you are just a Nigerian south south Efik or Esan trying to attach yourself to Yorubaland. Researcherofgreatness (talk) 01:32, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because of Nigeria. Editing Wikipedia would not move you to an alternative universe. Researcherofgreatness (talk) 01:32, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Edits in an attempt to elevate Yoruba over other languages or sourcelessly remove non-Yoruba languages will be reverted (just like edits to elevate Igbo on the South-East page and Hausa on the North-West page) and considered as evidence that you are not here to build an encyclopedia. You are already on a thin line with many of your edits (examples: 1, 2, 3, 4), ethnic-based direct attacks on other users do not help you and will be reported if they continue. Watercheetah99 (talk) 03:10, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've converted your malformed unblock request into a comment. You may have only one unblock request open at a time.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:00, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You were notified about the discussion at ANI and participated in that discussion, which presented a number of specific edits you made that allegedly violated policies. To pretend that you have no idea what you did wrong and to claim you were prevented from giving your side of the story is extremely disingenuous. You had days to give your side of the story, but instead, you made no explanations and declared that you would *not* be giving your side of the story, by your choice. That leaves administrators in the position of having to look at the evidence themselves, without any explanations from you that may have served as a mitigating factor. Indefinite blocks are not necessarily permanent ones; you appear to have a lot to offer, especially in the realm of West African cuisine, and everyone's hope is that you will be able to edit again. But nobody's content is so valuable that they get to ignore policies, whether they be about sourcing, edit-warring, casting aspersions, or in at least two instances, threatening other users with administrative consequences using rights that the community has not granted them. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 18:25, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well nobody asked me anything. I saw that I was mentioned, went there to see a discussion that was concluding. Days? I remember seeing it and the next day got blocked. I also have things to do in everyday life, so of I don't come here for days, that's typical. I didn't pretend I have no idea, my argument that whatever I did didn't warrant this. But that is up to whoever is moderating anyway. I apologise if i ignored policies, which if I was told before being indefinitely blocked almost immediately, I would have taken note of. I was not given any sort of warning before the fact. But its okay. Cheers. Researcherofgreatness (talk) 20:09, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You ignored very detailed examples from the filer. I literally linked you four things that you appeared to have violated and your direct response was, and I quote, "I won't even bother addressing the other accusations, that blatant lie alone is clear."
You response to very specific statements was to call the filer a liar -- without presenting any evidence or even the slightest argument that they lied -- and then refuse to respond to anything else. So now, the question is, how do you respond to this? You've got two options: you can either convince one of the administrators that you understand the problems with your behavior and that the behavior will not be repeated in the future, or you can be remain blocked. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 20:29, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(I will not be participating any further in this discussion. I gave my opinion as an uninvolved editor and gave you what I believe to be good advice that would give you the best chance of being unblocked, which is all I can as a non-administrator. You are free to take or ignore my advice.) CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 20:32, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Obe (Soups) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Sourced entirely to blogs, and thus not establishing notability. Fails to show that 'Obe' is more than a Yoroba word for 'soup' and/or 'sauce', given the wide range of constituents described. If it can be shown, through proper sourcing, that Yoroba cuisine as a whole is a valid topic, it would make more sense to have an article on that.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
