Welcome![edit]

A cup of hot tea to welcome you!

Hello, Redactrice at DESY, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. Thank you for changing your username from User:DESY-Kommunikation so that you can contribute to improving the article on DESY. Don't forget to read about making an WP:EDITREQUEST, and declaring your WP:COI. And thanks again for uploading the photos to Commons - don't forget to add categories to them to help people find them - but maybe you've already done that; I've not checked. Below are some pages that you might find helpful. For a user-friendly interactive help forum see the Wikipedia Teahouse.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, If you need help visit the Teahouse or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! We are so glad you are here! Editing suggestions - please review[edit]

I have worked my way through some of the articles declared above and put suggestions for new / edited content on the respective talk pages. It would be cool to get feedback for these! They are:

Consider asking at WT:PHYS, you're likely to get quicker feedback there. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 01:04, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New sandbox page about DORIS (particle accelerator)[edit]

Please review: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Redactrice_at_DESY/sandbox/DORIS_(particle_accelerator)#DORIS_%28particle_accelerator%29 Redactrice at DESY (talk) 12:55, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

PLUTO detector[edit]

You don't happen to know where the NAME of this detector came from, do you? I've been searching high and low, and I can't find it. PianoDan (talk) 01:04, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately not! I've been checking a few sources (including a very nice history of DESY) but no mention of what the acronym (which I bet it is) stands for. P might be for PETRA, but the rest..? Might be a case of contacting the author of the history book; I'm on it... Redactrice at DESY (talk) 06:51, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Found it: PLUTO doesn't stand for anything, it's simply a made-up name, says former PLUTO scientist and author Pedro Waloschek[1] Redactrice at DESY (talk) 10:10, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Making future edit requests[edit]

In future, you may wish to follow the steps on this page: WP:Simple_conflict_of_interest_edit_request when you make further edit requests. It's DEFINITELY a good idea to post to WP Physics, like you did. The advantage of also using the template described there is that the request gets automatically added to a list of requested edits that editors can visit. Thanks for improving particle accelerator content on Wikipedia! PianoDan (talk) 14:23, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Further edits for review[edit]

Here comes the next set of proposed edits for the following articles (pls see talk pages)

Pls also see the proposed new article about DORIS on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Redactrice_at_DESY/sandbox/DORIS_(particle_accelerator)#DORIS_%28particle_accelerator%29

Will also post these on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Physics and follow Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request as proposed by @PianoDan Redactrice at DESY (talk) 08:38, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Doris (particle accelerator) (January 10)[edit]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Mattdaviesfsic was: This submission is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Submitter works for DESY.

Hello Redactrice at DESY. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Redactrice at DESY. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Redactrice at DESY|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. I see that you declared a COI(that notice should go on your user page, not here), but if you are employed by DESY, you must make the stricter disclosure described in this message. 331dot (talk) 11:20, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice! I have created a user page with a short intro that also discloses my COIs and have updated the list here as well (should I delete the COI reference at the top of the page?). I was advised in the beginning to disclose them on the talk page, which is why they had only been listed there.
For all articles I have worked on (comparing versions and different articles to make sure no existing information or text is lost, correcting or updating facts and language, finding new references etc.), I suggested edits on the respective talk pages accompanied by explanations. These suggestions have largely been accepted and published by other Wikipedia authors. I have thus not made any edits myself and, as far as I am aware, I have not broken any Wikipedia rules – please correct me if I’m wrong. As I am still new at Wikipedia and learning, I am grateful for any help and advice. Redactrice at DESY (talk) 09:11, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the disclosure. Yes, if you are proposing edits, that is the correct thing to do. 331dot (talk) 09:30, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New article and edit proposals for review[edit]

After most of my edit proposals for the pages mentioned above have been implemented (thanks to everybody who was involved!), here are two article suggestions on my Sandbox page for the last two DESY accelerators that don't have their own pages yet:

User:Redactrice at DESY/DESY (particle accelerator)

User:Redactrice at DESY/DORIS (particle accelerator)

I've also created a Sandbox page with suggested edits to the main DESY article to update and de-clutter it as described above:

User:Redactrice at DESY/DESY revised

Comments, support and feedback welcome as always! I will also post these on WP Physics.

Thanks for your help! Redactrice at DESY (talk) 09:16, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
