Thanks for the warm welcome. Being a Wikipedian is a little like being part of history. I intend to be an asset. RavenQuoth (talk) 19:06, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop blanking the redirect at YaVaughnie Wilkins. Blanking is (almost) never the correct way to handle bad content. Blank pages can cause problems on the project. I've several times now directed in the edit comments to the correct way to handle the redirect if you truly believe that it is bad. You need to start a discussion at WP:RFD, and explain there why you think that it should be removed. - TexasAndroid (talk) 16:25, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RavenQuoth (talk) 19:33, 5 May 2011 (UTC) Sorry, but I only took the redirect off one time. If it's been taken off before, it was not by me. And I left a note that I thought it was vandalism. I would never blank a page without a message. In fact, I tried to undo my own actions as I suddenly felt I had bitten off more than I could chew, but failed at that. I still think this redirect is a form of vandalism, but I will let others take the lead on this and stay out of it from now on. I appreciate the instructions for starting a discussion on removal of a redirect, which I will follow if this should ever come up in the future. Please feel free to write me back. I'm new at this.[reply]

Ok. Here's a question. What makes you think that the redirect is "vandalism"? The article does mention her, and as she's not notable in her own right, only in connection to him, standard practice around here is to redirect to the associated notable person. If she was not even mentioned in the target article, and her association to him was only unsourced tabloid stuff, then it would likely not be proper to have the redirect. But as it is, the section in the target article looks well sourced, so my initial thought is that the redirect is likely proper. But I'm open to hear reasoning otherwise. - TexasAndroid (talk) 21:29, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RavenQuoth (talk) 22:20, 5 May 2011 (UTC) It is my belief, on reasonable authority, that a person close to the situation initiated the redirect. If you look you will see that the first user to redirect has been permanently banned. In my former career I was a legal news producer and aware that one of these parties has, shall we say, been focusing a lot of attention on the other. When I happened to notice Wilkins does not have an article, I read up what I could on Wikipedia protocol and it seemed to me redirect was meant to connect articles, not an individual to someone else's article. Am I wrong? Then I got a little concerned for my own safety and tried to undo my removal. I have no dog in this fight. But I want you to know my only intention was to be a good Wiki-citizen. I take my responsibility very seriously.[reply]

We have a policy here called WP:BLP. Bio of Living Persons. It boils down to needing to take extra care with articles that have anything to do with living people to make sure that they are very well sourced. Especially for something like a politician and his mistress. That said, this particular case does appear to be well sourced.
For redirects, take a look at WP:REDIRECT. I'm not seeing what I'm about to say listed, but from general practice, it is quite common to have redirects from non-notable associated topics to a notable main topic. Non-notable songs on a notable album. Non-notable individual band members in a notable band. Minor actors in a television show. Family members of a notable person. Etc. It is into this type of redirect usage that I would classify the redirect from YaVaughnie Wilkins.
As for the original creator being banned, if he was not (yet) banned at the time of creation, then that likely plays little role in the situation.
Ultimately, whyever it was created, I do not see that the redirect is against policy. And blanking thing most definitely *is* against policy. If someone really wants it gone, they need to start a deletion debate on it. - TexasAndroid (talk) 14:55, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RavenQuoth (talk) 15:15, 6 May 2011 (UTC) I realize that now - that I needed to start a discussion. Thanks for clarifying the correct policy. I did a little reading, but evidently not enough. You were very clear in your response to my blanking it; the only reason I wrote back was because it seemed you might have thought I was doing it repeatedly, as I saw some people were. One thing I am is a quick learner. Thanks for helping me through this, it will not be repeated.[reply]

It *has* been blanked repeatedly. Seven times by three different IPs and three different user IDs, including you. You were, however, the first to actually give a reason for the blanking. You are also the only account with much of a history before the blanking. Both of these factors led me to try to converse with you, as opposed to the "revert and forget" or "revert and warn" strategies that were used on the others. Whether you were the same person as previously, and finally giving something of a reason for the actions, or a totally new person, I felt that trying a conversation was better this time than warning or ignoring. :) - TexasAndroid (talk) 16:28, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RavenQuoth (talk) 13:01, 7 May 2011 (UTC) and I so appreciate it. When I saw I was reversed, I was hoping for a conversation. Is there any chance that, if I come across another quandary, I can run it by you? I have a long way to go before I am aware of the "usual procedures", but I do want to learn. THANK YOU![reply]

RavenQuoth (talk) 16:56, 11 September 2011 (UTC) I guess I put the cart before the horse. I am using this in an article on the novel - Emily Dickinson is a passion of mine. The article is in my sandbox - not ready to go live - but I am one of the contributors to the author's Wikipedia bio (originally added by Columbia University) which also has a section on this book because it is the author's best and just received two awards from the Library of Congress. Would it help if I put the picture up on the author's wiki page for now? Then add it to my article once it's fully sourced and ready to go live? So far I have only added two pictures to Wikimedia - both taken by me personally at public events. I need help on how to add 'fair use' pics AND ALSO pictures when the photographer has given me absolute permission in writing (I have two of those to put up on another article currently in my sandbox.)[reply]

Do I wait until the articles go live to add pictures? I thought it would be better to upload them so they're ready to go.

Disambiguation link notification for April 25[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Car rental, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Travelers (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Jerome Charyn, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Shomrim (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Blonde cast member[edit]

Hey, I just reverted you when you added a cast member to Blonde (upcoming film). You cited IMDb for your addition, and we cannot use IMDb as a citation as it is a user contributed website. See WP:IMDBREF for more info. If you have a different source, please feel free to add it back with that citation. BOVINEBOY2008 17:51, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I didn't know. I know the author personally. I'll find a better source. RavenQuoth (talk) 17:55, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
