Hi Qyd, I am trying to make sure the access dates for the footnotes on the Winnipeg article are current. I am finding that some come from the same source. Too many images at Havana

Hello Qyd, you had deleted all links that I posted yesterday, and I ask you now: if there are too many images (therefore page increments it weigh), why you don't select the best images about Havana and related to publish it on Havana's main page? Thanks for you interest... ZorphDark.

Ok, your answer was gratify, but I insist in review once in a while the new uploaded photos to select the best that make the article more comprehensible. Thanks again... & be 1n touch... ZorphDark.
PD: Also, keep in mind that one image had more value than a lot of words. A picture reveals contents that we can't appreciate by read. But obviously, we should abridge bytes as more as possible. ZorphDark.

Pearson Airport

Hello Qyd!

I was just looking up Pearson Airport page here and I couldn't help noticing you've got some nice shots of the terminals... I'm building a Pearson Scenery for a flight simulator called X-Plane and I need some pictures of the buildings so I was wondering if you have some there that you could share and allow me to use, the photos will be basically used for modelling the 3d buildings and to create the textures so only pictures from the exterior would be useful and especially ones taken from the aircraft ramps(showing the facades that face the airplanes rather than the ones that face the parking lots side), if you cannot share I'll understand! ;) You can find me at this e-mail

Template:Road types

Hi. I can appreciate the reasoning for you removing the whitespace from the top of the navibox, as it could appear 'inconsistent' when used with other Naviboxes. However, without the whitespace, the navibox 'collides' with whatever text is immediately before it, which I think looks dreadful. Adding a blank line (all I was trying to do – NB, this technique has been seen and used on other naviboxes) provides just enough breathing space to avoid the text being dominated by the navibox.

There must be a way of avoiding this problem without introducing new ones. Any ideas?

Take Macadam as an example. The last paragraph now 'includes' the navibox, as there's no visible separation between the two (aside from the leading below the last line of paragraph text).
In Tarmac, the navibox again 'touches' the final text, yet there is space allowed before the 'See also' heading – consistency would demand space before the navibox also.
You are right that {{Navigation}} includes 'style="clear:both;"', which should allow for some leading space. However, {{Road types}} is based on {{Navbox generic}}, which is a table, and does not include a 'clear' of any kind. The sample usage shows three such boxes butted-together, and I can't imagine why one might want to display that way.
Adding a blank line to the article is an easy compromise, but risky, as there are many editors and bots who will remove 'stray' blank lines on sight!

Just a comment: The part of your drainage diagram, Image:Canada-Drainage.png, that drains into the Gulf of Mexico seems a bit small and only seems to indicate the Milk River drainage and not the Old Wives Lake, Big Muddy Creek, and Poplar River drainages (I'm referencing the Saskatchewan Water Authority map at http://www.swa.ca/Maps/ ). (Although, being a native Saskatchewanian, I always thought Old Wives Lake was a self-contained basin which didn't actually drain anywhere...just loss by surface evaporation & irrigation, but I'm assuming the SWA knows better than I do) Thomas Dzubin Talk 16:07, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Photos

Qyd Per your photo requests, I do have several Stephen Ave photos and I would be happy to share. However, they are not better than the copyrighted shots. I will take a crack at beating the Chamber of Commerce shots and will post if successful. I do have some first class Calgary skyline wide angles and panoramas which I think are as good as or better than the Copyrighted Chamber shot there now. I have been hesitant to replace it since the Chamber shot is decent and it seemed so self aggrandizing. Is the Chamber copyright offensive? What would you advise? Cszmurlo 17:49, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Public domain BC govt map-generator

Just found this which you should have a look at; you're the first guy (gal?) I thought of when I saw it, though I'll let WPBC know as well. I haven't played with its toggles yet but don't know the quality of the graphics; the bigger mapplace system can load sat photos, contours, all kinds of stuff so this may be able to as well; looks like an easy way to do park and IR boundaries properly. No copyright, unlike Basemap (which you can't even mail yourself now; they want to charge for it; to hell with it I use prnt-scrn '-). Skookum1 00:59, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: {{expand}} and counties

Thats fare enough man. Reason i did so, was thinking that having the {{expand}} tag on top would encourage people that know bout the area to add things in...if u dont think it's need it just remove it. I wrote on that articles talk page though articles that are similar: such Brant, Ontario and unless im mistaken Chatham-Kent, Ontario is also a country/municipility? no? And that has a history section for eg? But fare enough, in future when i add a "expand" tag, i will make sure that i want something in particular added. You're right...

Yukon shoudl be YT (according to ISO_3166-2:CA, which is the default for such thing on WP). I've tweaked the template so that using either YT= or YU= as a parameter will work, though the documentation now only mentions YT. Thanks for highlighting this iussue. Alberta location maps

Hi Q,
I asked for help at the village pump with the Airdrie, Alberta map. I seen that you switched the Medicine Hat, Alberta map to the roads map. I compared the older Census divisions AB.png map between FF and IE7 (WinXP) and there didn't seem to be a difference in dot placement at Medicine Hat. Have you come across any other odd dot behavior in the Alberta maps? —MJCdetroit 20:19, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Other than Resolute's issue on Airdrie, I didn't notice any odd behaviour, but than again, I can't test it in IE6. I swithed the Med Hat map only because I find the road map more informative (census divisions are not well known these days). I'm contemplating changing all AB census divisions background maps with the road map, but so far it's just a thought. Thanks, I am slowly working on the Canada Town one now. I figured that Med Hat switch was a preferance thing.

I may have found another odd-behaving dot eariler, Redcliff, Alberta, but at the moment I am using a Macintosh and everything looks good (go figure?).

Question: Is there a way to line up the dot in Firefox (or whatever) and select that map image and turn it into a permenant map (no dot x & y)? Like how Invermere, British Columbia's map is? —MJCdetroit 02:46, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Could be done by hand for every community (and was done, unfortunately by me, for AB and BC). But I believe that is the point of having map+dot, that is, avoiding the dotty map syndrome, piles of similar map images clogging up the servers. It was the resaon I preffered AB and BC municipality infobox over the canadian infoboxes. --Qyd 14:16, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

UPDate: I am going to start to fix the dot map placements. The list of places that maybe affected can be found here: Category:Settlement articles requiring maintenance. I am going to switch the templates to a test template first, then move the dot as needed. When all pages needing work have been fixed then I will edit {{Infobox Settlement}} and switch the pages using the "test" template back to the live template. All the maps have been fixed. Most by just subtracting 35 from the dot_x value. Some may need an adjustment one or two in either direction but they are close (compared with google earth). Template:Canada provinces map

Hi, I noticed your addition of the labeled map feature to Template:Infobox Province or territory of Canada, but the infobox is suited for maps of 250px or smaller. The bigger map you added is stretching the infobox and disrupts the layout. Since you appear to be the main editor of Template:Canada provinces map, can you please edit the template to make its width adjustable before it gets added? List of municipalities in British Columbia

Can I ask for your help on this page? I created the article the other day and the framework will be complete soon. I've been using the maps that were on individual articles, many of which you created. However, the formats differ and in some cases there are no maps (in which case the Regional District map is used). What do you suggest for using small image size maps? --maclean 07:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Some extra dot maps can be found at commons:Category:Community locator maps of British Columbia (for Burns, for example). The generic maps and overlain dots have the great advantage of saving space and bandwidth, but are not very usefull in a layout like that you propose. Frankly, I would suggest using the coordinates ({{coor dms}}) in the table, rather than a map image, as they are more precise. --Qyd 13:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Yah, alright, that is a great idea. I'll add the ({{coor dms}}) below the maps and see how that looks. Do you know how to superimpose those yellow dots onto the maps like map at Dawson Creek, British Columbia? Superimpose IS a shorter sintax (compared to the raw html code), the only things that can be trimmed are the captions for basemap and dot (both are optional). Nice job on List of municipalities in British Columbia, btw. --Qyd 13:45, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

The link was for Offerings to Obatala. This link was based off of the Ifa College part of the Ifa Foundation of America and very accurate information. Why was it removed?

A link to a page covered in Google PPC ads and full of broken images not to mention incorrect information is a better link?

The link someone added was to a discussion forum. Per WP:NOT (WP:NOT#LINK) and WP:EL, links to discussion forums are not acceptable as sources or external links. I was the one who added it. Didn't know that links to forums were not allowed. Sorry about that. Question....we have a couple of different sites that have ALOT of great information on Ifa. We'd like to start contributing it to Wiki. Some of this content is on the ifacollege.com site, which is technically a forum as well. As long as the link to the content as an external source for more information goes to a page on that site that is not a forum link, is this acceptable?

Yes, it probably is. However, the best way to add it is contrbuting to the article with information, and referencing it with external links, see WP:CITE. Please consider third party sources and hard sources (books) too, as WP:COI might become an issue. You might also consider registering, see WP:WHY. --Qyd 22:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Location of British Columbia provincial and national parks

your stitchwork

Hi. I just noticed the stiching you did with Image:Alberta Children's Hospital 3+4.jpg,of 2 of my images. Thanks, that was a nice job. I was previously dispapointed that I couldn't get a proper wide angle picture of the full length of the building (limit of my camera).
