Information icon Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Pessoux. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this: |image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]], instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do: |image=SomeImage.jpg. There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recetly added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Hi Pyrusca. I noticed you created a few articles on Belgian politicians. Thank you for doing so, they were needed. However, to be honest the translations are sometimes of poor quality. Do you translate manually, or using a tool like Google Translate? I improved most of the content now. Please pay more attention to correctness and to following wiki standards in the future. Château de La Fougeraie

I saw you moved this to La Fougeraie Castle. I have moved it back. The term "castle" generally refers to a fortified medieval building. The term "château" is used in English for a stately home. I see no evidence that the Château de La Fougeraie has ever been called La Fougeraie Castle. Aymatth2 (talk) 12:11, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

ok. Let me offer my rationale. I had noticed in the category that it was split between chateau and castle so I thought I would rename them al to the same format but I yield to you. Pyrusca (talk) 14:36, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
  • The words château and castle have the same Latin root. The French use château both for fortified medieval buildings and for elegant country homes. But the English almost always use "château" for the house and "castle" for the fortified building. A key principle is that if there is a common English usage like "Château XXX" or "YYY Castle", regardless of logic that is what the article title should be. In this case I did not find English sources, but used "château" because there is no way it could be considered a castle. Aymatth2 (talk) 17:00, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Feudal families of Belgium

Hi. I see you created the category Category:Feudal families of Belgium. You might want to have another think about that, given that Belgium didn't exist as such in feudal times. I also note that the parent category Category:Feudal families doesn't exist, which would make me question whether we need this category at all. Are any of these families not eligible for Category:Belgian noble families? If not, then I'd suggest the feudal category is redundant. You might want to have a read of WP:Categorization before creating any new categories. You might also find Wikipedia:WikiProject Royalty and Nobility helpful, particularly the talk page. Cheers. Overcategorisation

Just be wary that you're not succumbing to the temptation to WP:Overcategorization - I'd suggest that for somewhere like Ciney I'd let the main category fill up a bit before feeling the need to at more WP:SMALLCATs like Category:Ciney Hamlets - and in general the fuzziness of hamlets versus villages means the usual cop-out is to refer to "Populated places". Also, it's important to put categories on any new categories you create - it makes it almost impossible for humans to find, and a lot of category maintenance relies on automatic scans of the category hierarchy, which can't happen to categories not in that hierarchy.Le Deluge (talk) 18:43, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

I think you misunderstand the problem. There is always something positive to come out of the weird.

I have no joy to see other editors losing opportunities to improve the encyclopedia, I know far more people who have left than are currently active.

There are now potentially over 40,000 edits that might or are probably in need of correction if not changing.

Also the admin who blocked has given the opportunity if there is any semblance of understanding to ask to come back.

There is the rub. I never take joy in seeing blocks, In most cases there have been usually positive things to come out of the presence rather than negative. Except for violent nasty socks or trolls.

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. New Page Review needs your help

Hi Pyrusca,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

It occurs to me that perhaps you were unawre of WP:BEFORE, It's a good idea to follow this, because sometimes there is stuff, like a writer you never heard of and a poorly sourced article, bu, when you run even a quick check, it is easy to see that Giwargis Warda was a major medieval Christian poet.
