Shmoo[edit]

Glad you like the article! The 2000 Winker article names and explains how to prepare a shmoo (so I used that reference for it), but it's the common museum term for this type of prep. As for the etymology, apparently when the Royal Ontario Museum folks developed this type of prep in the 1950's they named it after the Li'l Abner character Shmoo, since birds prepped like this look very round and are missing limbs.Parula 04:26, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
