I requested a unblock and a new username as instructed by Wiki admins so the information on my band page could be restored but now that request was denied with no explanation. Is this discrimination? You have vandalized my band page and done a disservice to our fans by deleting the information. What is the reason for blocking my account other than the claim that the account name was "promotional"? I'm trying to work with you "admins" but you're making it very difficult. Also, the user account "JzG" that removed my contributions to the page on January 22nd has since been blocked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:JzGorpheusband

JzG is not blocked - here's his block log. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:08, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Note that I do not respond to "requirements" from "admins" but will respond to requests. If you are requesting that I change my username to one which is not "promotional" (which is not a justification to block my account or completely alter my band page), I must request that an admin inform of how I can proceed with such an action being that my account is blocked.

Decline reason:

You can proceed with such an action by requesting a username change unblock just as you have done, but actually specifying a username change to something that does not appear to represent the group but only you as an individual. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:34, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have a choice - any unblock request that does not include a username change request will be rejected out of hand (use {{unblock-un|new username|your reason here}})- and you don't have the authority to control the content of your band's Wikipedia page. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:56, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please review WP::COI before adding any further material. Thanks. Pjefts (talk) 10:22, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User Warning COI username and Orpheus (band)[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Orpheusband", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. -- Jreferee (talk) 11:07, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Orpheusband has a COI for the Orpheus (band) article[edit]

Information icon Hello, Orpheusband. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Orpheus (band), you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing, and autobiographies. Thank you.

January 2016[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Orpheusband, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username. If you choose to do so, we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an e-mail to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles e-mail is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:17, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New username is required to unblock existing account AND restore all of the information removed from the band page including images and history.

As you intend on purposely editing an article in which you have a vested conflict of interest, in further violation of our policies here, I am declining this request. Coffee // have a cup // beans // 07:53, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I will not make a further determination, having made one earlier. But I will say that unblocking your account and replacing the deleted text from the article are two separate things; the block may well be released by the next admin who comes past; the article was pruned for cause, and you will have to justify its reversion. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 13:58, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
