Anthropology[edit]

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia!

I'm the editor that rewrote the article on the multiregional hypothesis a while back into the form it was in just before your edits. Prior to my rewrite the article was a bit of a mess, a result of edit wars between various earlier editors of the page. I appreciate the presence of another editor who has knowledge of the relevant anthropological history.

Did Coon ever refer to his theory as the "Candelabra theory"? My impression is that that title was applied to his theory by writers who interpreted his theory as polygenism, and that the term does give this incorrect impression. For that reason I'd prefer to stay away from it and I'm planning to make some edits accordingly. I have a copy of The Origin of Races but I don't remember Coon himself using the term there; please correct me and feel free to revert my edits to the Coon page if I'm wrong.

I would prefer to keep the focus in the multiregional article on Wolpoff's theory, as the previous theories of Wiedenreich and Coon did not have the full benefit of neodarwinian knowledge of the DNA mechanism of inheritance. For that reason I may be cutting back on your additions to that page. A more complete discussion might be more appropriate for a separate page on the history of the multiregional theory. This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on other people again, as you did at Talk:Roger Pearson, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. -- Atama 23:25, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for disruptive editing, personal attacks and off-wiki harassment. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
