Riza tbzli

Hello, This user "Riza tbzli" remove persian name from all persian soccer/coach Article/page. there isn't any article in persian about Tractorsazi as "red wolves". he deleted my source and using a turkish source as general nickname. red wolves is a nickname for racist turkish party Grey Wolves (organization).

Special:Contributions/Riza tbzli Gholaghabijan (talk) 08:56, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

@Gholaghabijan and Riza tbzli: As Riza tbzli has blanked their talk page, I'm copying my reply to your message here for the record:

@Gholaghabijan (responding here rather than on my talk page). I'm not an admin here but am happy to advise to some extent. I would say those additions probably don't belong in the nicknames section of the infobox as they aren't really nicknames. If they're important variations/translations, they would be better suited to the lead section IMO. 'The Red Wolves' appears to be sourced adequately, but I don't really know enough about the subject to say whether it should definitely be included or not. If you need assistance, there are various forms of dispute resolution you can use.
@Riza tbzli: It's important that Wikipedia editors communicate with each other. Please try to use edit summaries and give reasons for reverting other editors. Nzd (talk) 19:13, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Your subsequent reply may well raise genuine concerns. However, as I stated, it's not an area I'm really familiar with and I would prefer not to get drawn into this content dispute. I noticed that you reported this to WP:AIV. I didn't follow the outcome but I'm assuming that no action was taken. This was the wrong venue as vandalism has a very specific meaning on Wikipedia. I would recommend raising this on the article talk page, and possibly on the WikiProject Iran talk page, and, if you don't get anywhere, check the options at WP:DR which I linked to before. I would also advise that you treat this as a content issue rather than one of editor conduct. While I have had some issues with Riza tbzli's contributions, I also see good edits, and it's important to assume good faith (those that edit with ulterior motives tend to get found out in the end). Thanks, Nzd (talk) 19:25, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello, in Persia\Iran We don't have a racism epidemy\problem as United State or Turkey. So maybe some guy doing what they don't know anything about history of that. Like Hitler-lover or anti-Jewish persons who they are really good person with misleading face by bad\wrong act. Grey Wolves (organization) is a terrorist-Racist group and wiki is not their tribune. The another reason is Fifa forbidden all race\political slogan in stadiums.fifa-disciplinary-code-500275.pdf media-and-marketing-regulations-for-the-2018-fifa-world-cup-2922838.pdf

Nope, me citing CITEVAR was what I intended - but I've tweaked the formatting now anyway. GiantSnowman 14:25, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

It's under the 'generally considered helpful' section - imposing one style on an article with inconsistent citation styles (e.g., some of the citations in footnotes and others as parenthetical references): an improvement because it makes the citations easier to understand and edit. Joyce

Hi, I notice you have Joyce's Football League records book listed at the WP:Football sources page. I'm looking to complete Fred Keenor's stats table with the missing numbers from his three seasons with Crewe between 1931 and 1934. I was wondering if the book would have such statistics and if you would be able to fill in the table or list them for me to complete it myself? Thanks. Kosack (talk) 15:26, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

@Kosack: Unfortunately, the Joyce book doesn't break the stats down by season and only includes FL stats. Useful for infoboxes, but not for the tables. @Ureinwohner: Any chance you could look this up on ENFA please?
One thing I did notice: Joyce has the final club down as Tunbridge Wells Rangers (as opposed to just Tunbridge Wells). This is shown correctly in the body of the article, but not in the lead and infobox. Nzd (talk) 21:56, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
Ah I see, thanks anyway. Thanks for the Rangers spot as well, if the user pinged above is unable to help I'll see if I can find another user with ENFA access. Kosack (talk) 07:57, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Added. But you have to do the maths ;) Ureinwohner (talk) 08:04, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
@Ureinwohner: Thanks very much, that's great. I'll sort out the rest, thanks both for your assistance! Kosack (talk) 08:29, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

Denis Thwaites

Hello. Was always going to go back to Mr Thwaites after the publicity around his death eased off, but never did. Please nag me if I haven't done so in the next few days. Thank you for the kind words re articles created: the amount of Footballers from County Durham comes of very many Darlington players being local, and I certainly created a lot of them. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:32, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Few more facts:

Played for the Northern Football League in a Dundee F.C. vs. League Select game in April 1902, that was won by the later with 1-0. According to the article "It was only right from his experience that "Judge" Murphy should have captained the Northern League representatives to-day, but he did not know the spin of Dundee coin, and Storrier had choice of ends.[1]

In December 1902 he played with Hearts of Beath F.C. against Cowdenbeath in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup final,[2] Cowdenbeath won 3-2.[3]

1902-03 several appearances for Forfar Athletic.[4]

In 1917: "Judge" Murphy still keeps up his connection with the Hibernian. He walked the line in the game with St. Bernard.[5]

In 1931: [...] and Murphy became "Judge" because of the fact that he wore a wig. He always favoured a cap on the field, and the loss of it was really the only thing that would upset him.[6]

Ureinwohner (talk) 16:41, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

@Ureinwohner: Thanks for this. I've added most of it into the article as well as some other stuff. If you think you can work the other bits in, be my guest. It isn't an article I've been involved in up to now, I came across it while populating Category:Footballers from County Durham. I wasn't entirely sure about the "walked the line" quote. I assume it means he acted as linesman, but as a wing-half, he would have been pretty close to 'the line'. He would have been about 44 at that point, however. I think the match would probably have been a friendly as the date is during the off-season. Thanks also for the Litster correction, and for fixing my previous mistakes. When I first copied the CD onto my hard-drive, I noted it down incorrectly then, so I've been getting it wrong for ages! Nzd (talk) 02:54, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. DG Meester

Have made GS aware of the problems with Meester at his talk page. Koncorde (talk) 12:24, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

@Koncorde: Cheers. I see they've started removing location specifics from club pages as well. I reverted an edit on the WH article yesterday. That was a decent post on their talk page. I wondered about writing something similar but I'm not sure they'd listen to me. I don't think I've ever been called a playboy before, I'm not sure what that's even supposed to mean! Made me think of Frankie Mac... Nzd (talk) 12:58, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Badge of honour if he thinks you are Frankie! And yeah, will let GS monitor him. He's ran into me, you, Kanye, Matty, Walter etc in the last few months and made no effort to change so we'll see how it goes. Koncorde (talk) 13:29, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

FR30799386's User Scripts

Dear all. Recently, FR30799386 (talk) was blocked for sock puppetry. Among their projects were a number of user scripts that they left behind. I (DannyS712) have copied the scripts, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import one or more of FR30799386's scripts, and I thought that you might want to import a maintained version. Links to each script are provided below.

If you have any questions, please reach out and talk to me. --DannyS712 (talk) 03:57, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

@Scout MLG: Don't be ridiculous. You want a source for your grammar being terrible? Please also learn what edit warring actually is, and try to actually engage yourself before throwing templates around. Nzd (talk) 00:58, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
@Nzd:whoa whoa, please calm down. Scout MLG (talk) 01:00, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
@Nzd:my apologies. Didn't notice the name thing. Scout MLG (talk) 01:04, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
@Scout MLG:The IP was fixing a grammer error. That doesn't need a source, but if you don't think 'enjoyed' is the best word to use, feel free to think of a different one. As it stands, it doesn't make sense. Nzd (talk) 01:11, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
@Scout MLG: As you haven't returned to the article to fix this, I have restored the IPs edit. I would encourage you to raise this on the talk page if you disagree, and please note that you have already reached WP:3RR. Nzd (talk) 14:01, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
@Scout MLG: I've striken the unnecessary comment above and apologise. You caught me at a bad moment (let's just say that the easy way is still pretty difficult!). For the record, I've had a look through your other contribs and it looks like you're doing a good job, so keep it up Nzd (talk) 00:39, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Re: Unconstructive edit

Hey, yeah, I am not sure what to say here. I'm still in college living in an apartment and I left my laptop on in our common area while I went to do my laundry. Came back and I saw your message. No one has owned up. I know this is hard to believe but if you look at my edit history for the last 8-9 years, I don't mess around on wikipedia, make joke edits, or contribute to vandalism. I'll make sure this doesn't happen again. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 04:58, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, that's fair. I'll make sure this doesn't happen again. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 12:27, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Harry White

FYI: de:Harry White (Fußballspieler, 1901) Ureinwohner (talk) 19:29, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

@Ureinwohner: Thanks for that. I'll update the en one tomorrow if I have time. I see Joyce/Tony Brown have changed their mind on the name since the book came out. Does the Southend book note a full name? Nzd (talk) 02:06, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
Mason lists him as Harry White, born Leyton. Ureinwohner (talk) 05:00, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
@Ureinwohner: I'll add the discrepancies as a note. Did Manor Park come from ENFA? Sorry, I was hoping to have done this by now but I've not been editing much in the last couple of weeks. I've just stopped smoking and sitting at the computer was the time when I most chainsmoked, so I've been trying to avoid that temptation for a while. They say that after three weeks is the 'magic moment' so I've only got a week to go (hopefully!). I'm also working on an article for Dan Bailey if you have anything. Cheers, Nzd (talk) 02:43, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
The biographical data is from ENFA. Got a few information about Bailey in the books about Charlton and Leyton, but not sure if theres anything you don't already know. GL with quitting smoking, glad I never started it.. Ureinwohner (talk) 11:58, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

mobileUndo

Hello, recently FR30799386 was blocked for sock puppetry. The left behind few of their scripts. DannyS712 has copied the scripts, and has taken over maintaining them. It appears that you currently importing an outdated version of import FR30799386's mobileUndo, and I thought that you might want to import an updated and maintained version. The outdated version you are currently importing has some bugs. Those bugs have been fixed by the original creator and DannyS712 synced their version of the script with it. Also FR is currently rewritting and updating this script on meta-wiki per this advice as well as adding new features. Please copy one of the following codes and replace it with the code you currently have in your Special:MyPage/minerva.js or Special:MyPage/common.js to import this script. Thank you. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Book source

Hi NZD, I'm trying to find information on a Henry Harvey who played for St. Mirren between 1908 and 1912, specifically if he played in the Scottish First Division and would satisfy WP:NFOOTY. I noticed on the WP:Footy booklist you own a title A Record of Pre-War Scottish League Players, and was wondering if that would have such info? Cheers. Kosack (talk) 10:09, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Kosack:, according to Litster he joined St Mirren from Wallsend Park Villa on 18 June 1909. Made a total of 16 appearances in SLD1.
1909/10: 11 apps in SLD1, 4 apps in SC
1910/11: 5 apps in SLD1
1911/12: 0 apps
Signed for Cardiff City on 1 August 1912

Steve Riches

Hi Nzd: New to this wiki thing. I hope that you are well.

I noted that you thought that The Sun newspaper (UK) was not a good source for a quote about footballer Steve Riches. It is one of the few sources from that era.

I was wondering if you could take down you notation.

I saw the source and can send you a photo of it if you would like. It was a general round up of all the weekend's football fixtures and there was genuine reporting and quotes going on.

I find that labelling the Sun not a reliable source could perhaps be subjective. I mean the football reporting was comprehensive and the pages were a comprehensive straight reporting round-up of what was the past weekend's fixtures in the Football League.

This is a national newspaper and this was a sporting report.

I know that the Sun has a sensationalist stance for reporting "news" and is disliked by many on Merseyside and things like that. I do feel that at the time it ea true reporting.

Anyway it's all we have to go by - I am hoping that you can find it in yourself to take down the comment.

Steve Riches is a good local soccer figure here in Sydney and I hope that you can let this one go - based on the fact that the reporting was part of a comprehensive round-up and was seemingly legitimate football reporting by a national newspaper.

Thanks for your time SarfLondon20 (talk) 08:19, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

@SarfLondon20: Hi, thanks for reaching out. I'm just off out but I'll try to respond later. Nzd (talk) 08:29, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
@SarfLondon20: I'm sorry, I haven't been editing all that much recently and I'm afraid to say that this slipped my mind. I've made a compromise edit, making it clear that it's according to The Sun. It really would be better to have a stronger source though. Community consensus is that tabloids are not reliable, particularly on BLPs. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 13:53, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

St Albans

Yeah, that had me confused when the IP changed it too. Took me a while to dig out my old book and read the chapter to see who it actually was. Koncorde (talk) 22:08, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

@Koncorde: Yeah, sorry. I misread the edit history. That match was probably the reason I created the St. Albans FC article in the first place. Nzd (talk) 14:48, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
Not a problem. I wasn't sure if worth mentioning the original FC on the City article in the "history" as like a general "before City were incorporated an earlier team played at the same ground" sort of thing. For the moment I have just added a "for the earlier club see...." link at the top of the City page. Koncorde (talk) 14:57, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

Sam Irving

Hi NZD, I was wondering if I could ask you to check your pre-war Scottish league book again if possible? I'm currently working on Sam Irving and a handful of sources have mentioned a possible loan spell to Partick Thistle in 1923/24. Is there any mention of this in the book and, if so, are there statistics for the spell? Thanks. Kosack (talk) 22:45, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi Kosack: No, sorry, there's no mention of this in Litster. Nzd (talk) 16:30, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
That's OK, it sort of confirms my suspicion that it didn't happen and some of the sources are a little confused. Thanks very much. Kosack (talk) 21:31, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Sorry to keep asking, but there seems to be some discrepancy between sources for Hughie Ferguson's numbers for Motherwell. Would you be able to fill in his stats table, or list them here if easier and I'll do the rest? Kosack (talk) 13:25, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
