Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, NotAtrollLikeYou. I’ve deleted the additions by those with a conflict of interest[edit]

I’m the legal, sole owner of Save Ferris, the band, as well as the lead singer. I’ve corrected the section that listed “past members”. I’m the only legal member, and I hire musicians as independent contractors in a per-show basis. This is FACT. Not opinion. I’ve corrected the exhaustive list, clearly incorrect, to reflect those that actually spent a number of years playing with Save Ferris. NotAtrollLikeYou (talk) 14:04, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Save Ferris. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. COI editing[edit]

Greetings. It is clear by your edits of "I am the legal, sole owner of Save Ferris" and "I am the owner, historian and only legal member of this band.", that you claim to be the owner. This presents clearly that there is a conflict of interest. I have left comments at the Conflict of interest/Noticeboard but thought I would leave comments here also.

Repeatedly making controversial COI edits could likely result in a block or ban. A determination might be if you are considered a single purpose account and if sourced content you reverted, was actually considered reliable. That you were warned several times might be additional factors but you largely attenpt to comply with notifications that you have a COI evidenced multiple times.

A problems arises if it is deemed you are in fact asserting ownership of the article and editing contrary to other policies and guidelines.

I did not come here to create controversy or get into some long discussion. My intent is to inform you that even though it seems COI editing is allowed there are restrictions and if it is deemed those have been violated sanctions may result. These restrictions are far easier to run afoul of than it may appear. I would suggest following the guidelines to infer that COI editors should not directly edit and if there is conflict with added content to seek dispute resolution.
