Image copyright problem with Image:Winnipeg Mint.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Winnipeg Mint.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you created this image yourself, please look at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#For image creators, select one of those tags, and add it to the image. To do that, simply go to Image:Winnipeg Mint.JPG, click "edit this page", and add the appropriate tag. Be sure to remove the current tag indicating a lack of licensing!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me at User talk:Angr or at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. —Angr 16:37, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your subpage[edit]

Hi, Northwest. I noticed that your user subpage at User:Northwest/sandbox may not meet Wikipedia's user page guideline because it contains an identical copy of deleted material, List of Shaw Direct channels (see the deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/3rd bundle of channel lineups). If you believe that your userpage does not violate our guidelines, please leave a note on this page. As an alternative, you may add {{Db-userreq}} to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it, or you can simply edit the page so that it meets Wikipedia's userpage guidelines. If not, I will nominate it for deletion at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 05:10, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of South Surrey Park and Ride[edit]

The article South Surrey Park and Ride has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable infrastructure. No evidence of awards, charting or in depth coverage in independent reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. preparing for Evergreen[edit]

Hi,

What's your source for the upcoming reconfiguration of the Expo Line having the branch terminating at Production Way-University being called "University" branch? See here: [1] and quite a few other places you've made edits. Unless there's something official, I feel like "University" is not a good choice as "University" is not a place and obviously even "SFU branch" would be more suitable, although I do feel if there's no official statement yet, "Burnaby branch" (vs. "Surrey branch") is much clearer. Joeyconnick (talk) 23:30, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

also, these changes are really premature since the Expo Line hasn't even been reconfigured and won't be until Dec 2016 when the Evergreen extension opens. Joeyconnick (talk) 23:31, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This is the source I've been using; it's an official TransLink brocher. The term "University Branch" is unofficial, but I thought for the time being it was a good choice to help others understand the final destination of the branch. Had the terminus station been named "Production Way-SFU" I would have called it the "SFU Branch".
I don't think these changes are premature. I believe the public will be turning to Wikipedia for a better understanding of the upcoming service changes to the SkyTrain system.
Thank you for your input. Northwest (talk) 00:05, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! Sorry—I didn't realize they were splitting it that early. Given there's a source, it makes total sense to update the articles now.
In the articles at least, the changes should be sourced. If the brochure isn't on the TransLink website anywhere, then the imgur link is at least something; this is a fairly major change and people will be inclined to go "huh?" without something to back it up.
The placeholder branch names should be consistent and non-ambiguous. In the Lower Mainland, "University" could easily mean SFU or UBC or any of the other smaller institutions. As there's no station called "University" or that even begins with "University", I would suggest either "Surrey"/"Burnaby" or "King George"/"Production Way–University" as branch names for now.
If the full station name seems unwieldy, then I suggest using just "Production Way" as, to the best of my knowledge, that station is not commonly called University.
I'm happy to help out with the changes. Joeyconnick (talk) 05:42, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to help out too. I've been trying to update the articles as well, including the route diagrams. What do you think of the idea of making a copy of Template:TransLink Services with the expected changes and having it ready for October 22nd? A while back I did the same with the TransLink Major Route Diagram template (the changes to it were far more involved and required nearly a complete overhaul including verification on mobile devices). Sweetnhappy (talk) 19:32, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You should definitely make a copy of the TransLink Major Route Diagram. That looks like a lot of work, especially with the discontinuing of the 97 B-Line and the introduction of the 95 B-Line. Thanks. Northwest (talk) 21:44, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I did (sorry for not making it clear that I had). You can view it here: Template:TransLink Major Route Diagram 2017 Sweetnhappy (talk) 22:17, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Have since copied and updated a version of the TransLink Services Template. It can be found here: Template:TransLink Services 2017 Sweetnhappy (talk) 23:07, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That route diagram looks good, nice work. My suggestion for the TransLink Service Template would to rearrange the station order for the Millennium Line. Have the inbound stations ordered first (VCC-Clark to Lougheed Town Centre). I wish TransLink would abandoned the green outline and the branding (as it's not a branch) for the Evergreen extension as it creates confusion but the station signage says otherwise. Will they add another coloured outline for when the Broadway extension eventually gets build and make it an even bigger mess? Northwest (talk) 21:46, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I would change the order but I'm unsure as to whether VCC-Clark will remain the outbound terminus (like King George) or if it will switch to being the inbound terminus like Waterfront since it is closer to downtown Vancouver (the legend at the bottom states the order should be inbound to outbound). While the platform signage may not indicate which platforms are inbound or outbound, I'm fairly certain that their actual status in the system reflects westbound tracks/platforms from Lougheed to VCC-Clark being outbound and eastbound being inbound. Thoughts?
The order needs to be the same between the Millennium Line and the Evergreen extension stations (was reversed in the Extensions Under Construction section of the existing template). Sweetnhappy (talk) 00:36, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't realize @Northwest: had made the same suggestion I did (also pinging @Sweetnhappy:), but I started a discussion on Template talk:TransLink Services 2017. We should probably move the discussion there or to the actual page that will be updated (Template talk:TransLink_Services) so others can find it and comment if they so desire. Actually, Template:TransLink Services 2017 should really be in a sandbox, not created as an actual template. Kinda like this. --Joeyconnick (talk) 00:41, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

VCC-Clark will definitely stay as the inbound... Vancouver will always be inbound. You're starting at the metropolitan centre and going out to the suburbs. --Joeyconnick (talk) 00:42, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Sweetnhappy: It seems reversed in the existing template because the Millennium Line does a loop right now (from Waterfront to VCC-Clark) and Waterfront is "more" inbound than VCC-Clark. Once it's just running from VCC-Clark to Lafarge, VCC-Clark is the obvious inbound end. --Joeyconnick (talk) 00:51, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Joeyconnick: I'm still relatively new to Wikipedia and because of that I did not know about sandboxing until now. I will endeavour to use them in the future.
As for the arguments for which end is inbound vs. outbound, if everyone else listening in is okay with it, then I'd be happy to reverse the order. Sweetnhappy (talk) 01:00, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Sweetnhappy: Totally okay about sandboxes... I think I only just now created my first sandbox. As for reversing, I tried it out here: User:Joeyconnick/sandbox/TransLink_Services_2017. As for further discussion, let's get off poor Northwest's page and move it here: Template_talk:TransLink_Services#Preparing_for_Evergreen --Joeyconnick (talk) 01:07, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Evergreen Extension again[edit]

There are two problems with the source. The biggest one for me is that there's no indication that this is an official TransLink document. The second problem is that if it is, the publishing of the image is a copyright violation and we can't link to it. We should wait until TransLink officially makes a statement. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:37, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Walter Görlitz: You mean like this? Guess you could have probably held off on the reversions. Too bad they haven't named the branches. sigh Joeyconnick (talk) 21:03, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That is a good source. Thanks. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:33, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Joeyconnick: I have a reverted the articles and updated the source. Since there appears to be no official branch names; should the new branch possibly be referred to as the "Lougheed Branch"? Seems like it might be a suitable name since Lougheed Town Centre will be the major transfer point and both Millennium Line station interlined with the Expo Line will run along Lougheed Highway. Northwest (talk) 21:42, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You should not have reverted, you should have applied new edits. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:33, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmn... I really like "Lougheed branch" as a compromise between "Burnaby" (since the Expo Line will have been through a different part of Burnaby on its way to PW-U) and "Production Way-University" (long) or "University" (vague). So you'd definitely get my vote for King George branch and Lougheed branch... until I guess TransLink might come up with their own actual names. LOL

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. The 1000 Women in Religion Project is working to improve the coverage of women’s contributions to religious, spiritual and wisdom traditions worldwide. In support of this goal, the edit-a-thon at Atla's (formerly the American Theological Library Association) annual meeting will focus on improving articles about women in religion. You made the very last edit of the 2010s...[edit]

Revision 933439944, conveniently made to 2010s, was the very last edit of the 2010s (in UTC time anyway). Revision 933439945 gets the honour of the very first edit made in the 2020s. Still, congratulations for making the very last edit of the decade (and the article you edited was quite the happy coincidence)! —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 00:08, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Quite the happy coincident indeed! XD —Northwest (talk) 00:12, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RapidBus service to UBC[edit]

Hi Northwest. Thank you for your edits to the UBC Exchange article in regards to the new RapidBus service! Would you mind reflecting this information under the transportation section of the University Endowment Lands article as well? Transit isn't my editing area and I don't want to mess up the details. Thank you for your assistance. Daylen (talk) 05:51, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:2021 disestablishments in British Columbia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
