Welcome![edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. You may want to create an account, which brings a range of benefits.

Please read The Five Pillars of Wikipedia to help you get to know this place, and you might want to look at What Wikipedia is not to see what is and isn't suitable for Wikipedia.

And remember, don't submit copyrighted work without permission. By submitting your work you promise you wrote it yourself, or copied it from public domain resources — this does not include most web pages.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Dan100 (Talk) 17:19, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Additions to Civil Rights Articles[edit]

Hello! You made a number of very interesting additions to American Civil Rights Movement (1896-1954) and American Civil Rights Movement (1955-1968) that I'd like to merge into Timeline of the American Civil Rights Movement. Could you please cite your source for this information (see Citing sources and Copyright problems) - other editors have to be able to check the facts, and Wikipedia can't use copyrighted material. Thanks very much, Simesa 01:47, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahem[edit]

Please be advised that it is considered vandalism to blank a talk page, even if that talk page belongs to you. You have been duly warned. Toodles. Evan Reyes 05:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a big deal. Just DO NOT let it happen again or you WILL be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. (winking emoticon denoting sarcasm goes here) Evan Reyes 00:14, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Album review formatting[edit]

Hi there. Regarding your recent edit to In Rainbows, please see WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews. Note specifically that:

  • The number of reviews should be limited to ten.
  • The link text should display as the year, i.e. "2007", not "link".

Have a nice day. --PEJL 21:22, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AmonTobinSplinterCell.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AmonTobinSplinterCell.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Can band.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Note, if you did create this file, you may want to upload it to Wikimedia Commons, which will allow the image to be accessed by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (which include the various localized versions of Wikipedia)

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Gyrofrog (talk) 18:43, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Thisheat.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Thisheat.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Armbrust Talk Contribs 15:57, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
